This is a beautiful place to stay and works well for a small family reunion. All 3 of our families enjoyed the house very much. It is well maintained plus spacious enough to spread out. The kids had a great time in the water with the canoes, kayak and fishing. The bikes were a plus but didn't get to use them much unfortunately. The property owner is very good to work with. There also is a person who lives a few houses away that checks you in and out. He is also very helpful with any issues that come up during your stay or with information about things to do in Door County. Brussels is close by for groceries. It is a little drive to the main Door county attractions, but there is plenty to do at the house. It is relaxing to get away from the crowded tourist areas. I would recommend this place to friends and relatives.

Our family spent a week in beautiful Whitestar in August, 2010. After having vacationed in Door County for over 20 years, this is by far, the nicest accomodations. There was plenty of room for everyone, while maintaing privacy and "quiet" areas. Whitestar provided something for everyone. The kids loved swimming and snorkeling off the pier, and exploring the forest out back. My husband and I were really excited to have found a good fishing spot using the canoe. We had a few great bass and perch meals! The views were breathtaking. Every window to the home provided a beautiful landscape. I wish I would have brought my acrylics! Rainy days do not mean boring days at Whitestar. The home had a great selection of movies and DVD's along with many fun games and puzzles. Our favorite for the week was a new game called "Bananagrams". We took a few trips into Sturgean bay to shop and visit some local galleries. I would highly recommend visiting the home and garden of Karin Overbeck. Her Evergreen Schoolhouse garden is an amazing mix of mosaics, sculpture, and recycled art incorporated into her garden. We were truly impressed by the coziness of the home. There must be an artist in the family as seen by the hidden gems throughout the garden! The owners have a very good way of making us feel welcome. There were plenty of pillows, sheets, and blankets. The kitchen was well stocked and the bikes were a huge bonus! The home was exactly as portrayed, if not better. The owner was quick to respond, very polite and helpful. Looking forward to our return in 2011!

This place exceeded my expectations. We rented the house for a family reunion - my family, my two sisters and their families and my mom (12 of us). It was hard to tell by the outside photo of the house how big the place is, but it felt nice and roomy. The indoor photos gave a good feel for the place. The great room was beautiful - windows on both sides. One side facing the lake (Green Bay) and the other facing the woods. We love to camp and this place gave us the feeling of camping, but with all of the creature comforts! The yard is nicely landscaped and we had some cozy campfires by the lake. There was plenty to do and explore. Others in the group just enjoyed hanging out in the beautiful house or yard. We have some musicians in the family so the piano came in handy! My son & I took hikes in the forest preserve behind the property, tried our luck fishing in the canoe, and our family took a bike ride through the beautiful country roads of Door County. The property is a great place to get away and spend quality time with friends and family.

We stayed at this property for a week this August. The property and the area exceeded our expectations. The cottage is kept in excellent condition with lots of room for our group of two families (total 4 adults and 5 kids). The pictures and descriptions posted here and on the owner's website are all accurate and if anything don't fully capture the beauty of the property. The location is very private and the grounds are well kept and well suited for family games or just hanging out watching the incredible sunsets over Green Bay (much warmer than the other side of the peninsula!). We were really pleased to find a great assortment of sports equipment, games, books and puzzles to enjoy during our stay. Our dealings with the owner were very friendly and he was always prompt in responding to our questions and in helping us with our vacation planning. We have provided our contact information to the owner and would be happy to correspond directly with anyone that is interested in finding out more about our experience.
