House is very small, but plenty of room for the two of us. Cute, but owner needs to give it some TLC! Wonderful location--right on the beach. would rent again for this location.

This was the perfect little hid away. Yes it is small BUT that is explained in the description. I truly loved this little piece of heaven and YES we would stay there again. The location was great, the beach was fabulous. the house needed a little work but it is a rental and it was VERY clean. The pictures are exactly what you will see when you walk into the property. I had never been to Mexico Beach before but I will return.

This little house is the perfect getaway! Yes, the house is small and no, there aren't any closets, but it is the cutest, coziest little beach house ever! Our stay couldn't have been more comfortable. The location is amazing too! We practically had the beach to ourselves! Our sons, ages 4 and 2 LOVED it. Our 4 year old still keeps asking when we can go back to "our Florida home"! The homeowner was SUPER nice in our email communications and the property management company was incredibly friendly and helpful. Mexico Beach is the perfect place to vacation if you want to spend a quiet week on the beach. There is so much to do in the surrounding towns as well. Port St Joe had some really nice shops and great restaurants (although we mostly just grilled and ate our meals at the house!) and the St Joseph Peninsula State Park is amazing. We spent a whole afternoon just wading around in St Joseph Bay catching and releasing little fish and sea urchins in nets! There are also plenty of activities for people without small kids such as deep sea fishing, snorkeling, horseback riding and parasailing. The one downfall to the house, I would say, is the spiral staircase. I was worried sick that one of my kids would climb on it when my back was turned and fall. But the pictures clearly show the staircase AND the owner was thoughtful enough to point it out to me in an email as well - BEFORE we had paid, even! So even that isn't a complaint, just something to consider if you have small kids. And since the house has an open floor plan and the staircase is in the center of the house it wasn't any trouble at all to just keep an eye out for a curious boy heading to the stairs! Now we're busy counting the days till we can go back to this adorable A-Frame!

If you are looking for that perfect beach home you saw in Southern Living, look elsewhere. You need an open mind and relaxed attitude to enjoy the quirky A Frame. Because of the shape of the walls, the shower curtain doesn't quite close and you have to stoop a bit to look in the bathroom mirror. The plumbing talks to you at the kitchen sink. The jaded owner, I'm sure after replacing things so many times, has resorted to the cheapest possible deck furniture, temperamental toaster, and mattress-on-a-board for the second bedroom. All that being said, my husband and I had a great time- we almost had the beach to ourselves and it was clear, clean and quiet. Area restaurants were great! The coolest thing was the Fun Pass, we saved a LOT of money playing golf, fishing, even horseback riding. The A Frame was a good home base for all our activities. I recommend the A Frame for nimble couples (think about negotiating a spiral staircase on a 4 am potty trip) or small families on a budget. The price was definitely worth it- if you are gonna go to the beach, you should always get a beach front property.

The wall unit a/c's do not adequately cool the house in the afternoons and early evenings. Cockroaches in the house and silverfish became problems the second week we were there. Pack light as there are no closets and cupboards. Aside from that, the view was beautiful and short walk to the beach was great.
Owner response:If there were bug problems, I wish you had contacted the management company that's a mile down the street (ph. number is on the fridge), or the pest company that's posted on the fridge, along with all other contact numbers. Because we are ocean front, we do get pests (fyi, they are not cockroaches but Florida bugs) & pay an exterminator to come out bi-monthly. They come out on night on the back deck occasionally, but never have been in the house. And yes, bcs we are an A frame style house, there are no closets, only dressers/chests/hooks. We have never had complaints w/the a/c before as we have 3 units in 800 sq ft house. Again, maintenance is available 24/7.
