Wonderful Beachfront Escape!

Guest: Julie (Dublin, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 03/18/12 Review Submitted: 04/15/12

We recently had a wonderful stay at this beachfront townhouse. It had a spot for everyone - from the sunny balcony off the master sitting area to the shaded porch off of the dining area. Richard was great to work with. He responded very quickly to any questions and personally called the day we arrived to make sure everything was OK. The three level living area was very clean and very tastefully decorated. The views from all areas in the back (family room, dining room/kitchen, master bedroom and sitting area, and two porches/balconies) were awesome! It was any easy walk on the boardwalk to the beach. You do have to walk up many steps from the parking lot to get to any of the townhouses, but there is a ramp that you can drive up to unload your car ( and my mother-in-law used that to walk to and from the car ). It is located right next to the Amelia Island Inn, if you want to use those facilities. We chose to just enjoy the beach and the views from the townhouse. Everything on the island is close by, including grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping. We would recommend this property to any of our friends and family and we would definitely come back ourselves.

We had a relaxing time at this very nicely decorated townhouse...

The owner was very helpful with any questions we had prior to renting the townhouse and he was very prompt and polite in his emails. The townhouse was very very clean and very nicely decorated. I liked the decor very much. The bedrooms (4) were good sized and comfortable. The master bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was small but fine and I loved the living room with the wonderful views of the ocean. The owner called us a few times to make sure everything was fine and it was. It was clear that he loved his home and that was reflected in the home itself as well as his approach to renting. I liked having a washer/dryer in the house. There was a tennis court and pool very close to the townhouse. My son and his friend appreciated the wifi and the televisions in each of the bedrooms and the living room area. The owner did an outstanding job of communicating. I would definitely recommend this town house.

Excellent Condo centrally located in AIP

We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully decorated and immaculate townhome. Even the windows were sparkling clean to take advantage of the amazing views from the living/dining area and the upstairs sitting area and master bedroom. The spice cabinet, beach gear, and travel-sized products in the bathrooms were extra bonuses that made packing a breeze. We especially enjoyed retreating to the shady pool just across the parking lot after we’d had enough sun and sand on the wide, un-crowded beach. Additionally, the owner was very responsive and patient with all my questions and made the rental process so easy. We hope we can return soon.

Wonderful Family Vacation

Date of Stay: 06/26/11 Review Submitted: 07/09/11

We have been visiting Amelia Island Plantation for over 10 years. We have stayed in many locations having a variety of experiences. This vacation rental as well as the owner, Richard, were fantastic. The ocean views are outstanding and the unit is beautifully appointed. In addition, the complex is a true gem- very close to everything but yet a feeling of privacy. The ease of the rental process was great and Richard took care to ensure that we received everything we needed to enjoy the unit. This is the first time that we are actually considering returning to the same unit next year.

Beautiful Oceanfront Condo!

Guest: Erin (Indianapolis, IN)
Date of Stay: 05/21/11 Review Submitted: 05/25/11

My family and I just returned from an absolutely perfect vacation on Amelia Island. This condo is beautiful, clean, comfortable beds, nice decor, a great location, with a perfect ocean view. Working in the travel industry myself, I am extremely picky about where I stay when I travel, this condo met all my expectations and then some. My husband and I got married on Amelia Island 4 years ago and we fell in love with it then, and have been anxious to return with our son, my parents, and my brother's family. We will be returning to this condo year after year for sure! We had 6 adults and two small children and had more then enough room and space for everyone! My son slept in pack and play, provided by housekeeping which was very accommodating. The location is perfect, right on the beach, and in walking distance to the Beach Club, shops, and restaurants on the Plantation. Richard was easy to work with and answered all my questions along the way and even called to be sure we got into the condo ok. He was great to work with! I highly recommend this condo for families, couples, or anyone for that matter. One of the best vacations I have ever taken!

A wonderful respite for a weary family of four

Guest: Meredith (NY)
Date of Stay: 04/16/11 Review Submitted: 05/10/11

The property was emaculate, our view was unobstructed, and the space was just right for a family of four with a few visitors over a week's vacation. Our only wish was that there be a more accessible grilling spot within the townhouse itself but we understand why it has to be down and around the corner. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful getaway, the shops and restaurants on Amelia Island Plantation were a brief walk away and a very nice option if you don't want to make the drive to Fernandina after a day of fun in the sun. The amenity card got us into the Beach Club pool which was great for our 6 and 2 year old children--we found the combination of poolside and ocean side recreation a great advantage to renting this property. The property was everything it was advertised to be and the owner was very easy to communicate with and got back you promptly via e-mail with any questions along with way. I recommend this property without reservation. We'll be back!

We recently visited Richard's property during our daughters' mid winter break. We couldn't muster the energy to go skiing, & decided on a quick getaway from home instead. The property is extremely good value, right on the beach, clean, quiet, great view of ocean, nicely furnished & accesible to all the local amenities. We had great plans to go kayaking, cycling, lots of tennis etc,( all of which are available), but we all ended up totally chilling out & not going far at all. My husband & I did manage a daily walk on the beach & we rented a couple of golf carts one day. There is a tennis court right next to the villa for a quick game of tennis without having to go to the tennis courts on the Plantation property, so we did have a couple of days playing there. All in all we felt totally lazy & relaxed by the end of our stay, but there is plenty to do if you want a more adventuous stay. Richard is extremely helpful & efficient.

Wonderful place!

Date of Stay: 12/20/10 Review Submitted: 12/28/10

Myself and my 4 nieces and nephews (ages 11 and 14) just returned from a fabulous stay at this fabulous condo. From beginning to end the owner was very easy to work with and made sure everything was OK during our visit. We have been vacationing at aip for many years and the kids declared this to be their favorite place and the one we would be staying in from now on. I have to agree with them. The condo was very clean and has a wonderful layout, tasteful and comfortable furnishings (beds, too), and is fully equipped right down to WIFI, board games and cleaning supplies. Being so close to the dunes and beach gave us a gorgeous view up and down the beach. We were especially enthralled with the full moon and ability to see the lunar eclipse from the upstairs deck. The condo is conveniently located near all the amenities. We were able to stroll to the inn (heated outdoor pool), the spa and shops, and the beach. Looking forward to our next visit!

This unit at Amelia Island Plantation was perfect for our family vacation. We've been coming to the Plantation for years, and we've stayed in several different properties and rental units, but this one takes the cake. It was the perfect location with perfect views overlooking the ocean. The owner was extrememly friendly and wanted to make sure everything was as we expected it - and then some. We got to enjoy every amenity that the Plantation has to offer without paying ridiculous surcharges through rental agencies. It is not a matter of whether we'll return to this unit, but when we'll return. This is an outstanding property. I'd give it six stars on a scale of one to five.

Well maintained and CLEAN unit!!!

Date of Stay: 07/10/10 Review Submitted: 08/13/10

What a beautiful and clean property only steps from the beach!! We have been visiting Amelia Island for over nine years, and this property is by far the nicest property that we have stayed in. It is very important to our family that we are in a beachfront unit and close to the Ocean Club at the plantation, so I originally reserved this unit because of its location. I was not expecting the unit to be as clean and well maintained as it was. Mr. Smith has spent considerable time renovating and decorating this unit, and I can not stress enough how clean it was!! We felt very much at home in this unit and plan to return next year. In addition to the actual appearance of the unit, the owner, Mr. Smith, was very attentive to our needs and making sure that we were comfortable and happy in the unit. I especially appreciated that fact since I have had experiences in the past where an issue came up with the unit, and I was unable to reach the owner.

Jewel Vacation Find

Guest: Ang (Marietta, Georgia)
Date of Stay: 06/19/10 Review Submitted: 06/27/10

I have just returned from the most fabulous vacation find on Amelia Island a real jewel. My family (of three) in addition to my sisters family (of four) had the joy of vacationing at this property located at Amelia Island Plantation. I had visited Amelia Island Plantation before and enjoyed it but this listing is truly a home away from home. It had everything we were looking for; location literally steps away from the beach, beautiful but very comfortable. What we did not expect were the breathtaking views the cleanliness(which is a must for me), accessability to the pools and did I mention the views? Wow. This property is very well taken care of and was so gorgeous! The owner was very kind whom I have enjoyed working with and look forward to working with year after year. We had the most fun. We spent our days at the beach looking for shark teeth, relaxing, building sand castles, shell collecting, walking, kite flying and then we would choose which pool we wanted to visit late in the day. We also enjoyed making new friends. The weather was perfect.

Beautiful Oceanfront Condo

Guest: CincyGirl (Cincinnati, OH)
Date of Stay: 05/21/10 Review Submitted: 05/25/10

The oceanfront view is beautiful and the condo is very well maintained and spacious. Walking across the dunes takes you directly to the beach and another 5 minute walk will take you to the shops at the Villa or next door to the the Amelia Island Plantation where you can enjoy all the amenities that they offer. Attractions include golf, bicyling, and boat excusions to name a few and historic downtown Fernandina is only a 15 minute drive. The condo looks better than the pictures and I would definitely recommend this place to friends - we will be back.

Graduation Gift of Amelia Island and this townhouse

Guest: None Applicable (North Carolina)
Date of Stay: 05/16/10 Review Submitted: 05/25/10

My husband, daughter and I just returned from spending the most wonderful week at this townhouse. I guess I feel like the writer of one of the reviews I had read, I don't want to share this experience too much with others since I want to come back and use this property again. The house was very clean and the views are beyond reproach. I loved the overall cleanliness of the property. My daughter had just graduated from Medical School and her Birthday was May 18th so a quiet vacation before starting her residency was what she wanted. I just can't say enough nice things about the townhouse and Amelia Island and Richard Smith. Working with Richard was so pleasant. You will not have the normal worries if you use Richard's property. He is very honest and extremely helpful.

My family, 5 adult, 1 toddler, and 1 infant visited in early April. Beach, pool, tennis, and golf access couldn't be better. View from the living room was one of the most fantastic oceanscapes I've seen in quite a while. Extremely clean and well maintained property. Free WiFi was very helpful and worked flawlessly. Outdoor grill was very conveniently located and easy to use. The staff at Amelia Island Plantation were very accommodating. Once you're on the resort property you never need to drive unless you want to. Free shuttle will come and pick you up. Staff will also come help with luggage. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Would definitely recommend this property. Owner was very helpful and responded to all inquiries promptly.

Exceptional!

Date of Stay: 03/26/10 Review Submitted: 04/05/10

My only hesitation about writing this review ... this home will be booked solid in the future because I have so many great things to say and I won't be able to stay again. The views are incredible, decor is tasteful, beds are comfortable - basically it felt like a friends place and not a rental. Richard was extremely responsive and helpful. I am a very selective traveler and have stayed often at beautiful hotels, this townhouse compares favorably. The beds are unusually comfortable and a king sized bed in the master is key. For our family of 6, it was ideal and the resort is both picturesque and family friendly, but in a uniquely civilized way. If you want a relaxing, spacious, ideally located rental on the island and a hotel room just won't suffice, this is a great option. I would stay again and hated to leave!

We stayed the week after Easter and had a tremendous time. The accomodations were better than we expected. Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed the condo; especially the beach access. Amelia Island has been a vacation destination for my family for over 15 years and this condo was by far the best we've experienced. I would welcome the opportunity to stay here again.

We had an incredible stay at your gorgeous Amelia Island condo. The location on the Plantation was perfect-- close to restaurants, bike trails, shopping and most importantly just steps away from the beach. The decor is top-notch, with the feeling of a five star resort. And the views from the condo are spectacular! Thank you for a wonderful family vacation-- we can't wait to go back.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this Beachfront Townhouse at Amelia Island Plantation! Our trip was from 6/20-27th, 2009. The location of the townhouse was ideal as it was just steps to the beach and very close to the pool. We have 3 kids (12,11,&6mos) and the proximity to get back and forth was great. The townhouse was nicely furnished and had a great layout with two scenic balconies overlooking the ocean and the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking meals. There is a great grocery store very close for supplies. The beach fishing was wonderful with over 100 fish caught during the week (sharks, jack crevalle, sea trout, bluefish, whiting, & even an unusual fish called an Atlantic guitarfish). The kids loved collecting shells and finding shark teeth as well as catching elusive mole crabs to use as fishing bait. Other activities on the property included body surfing, biking, hiking and a segway excursion. The kids also liked the activities sponsored by the Nature Center. These activities could be put on the amenity card which is included in the rental. We did not golf or play tennis but these facilities were top notch. The entire plantation was great & the townhouse had a great location so everything was easy to get to. We also did 2 back country fishing charters as a family which was close-by, and great for kids since water was nice & calm. Overall, I would highly recommend this rental & can't wait to revisit again!

Date of stay: 6/20-27, 2009 We had a wonderful time at this Beachfront Townhouse. The location was excellent with proximity to the Beach as well as private pool. Wonderful surf-fishing with over 100 fish caught during the week (Jack Crevalle, Sea Trout, Sharks, Bluefish, Whiting and even an Atlantic Guitarfish.) The townhouse was nicely decorated, clean and full of useful amenities. The kids (11&12) loved collecting shells, catching mole crabs for fishing bait, utilizing the nature center programs & even hanging out on the scenic porches reading. The baby (6 mos) had ample room to maneuver around main living room without getting into any troublesome situations. We enjoyed bike riding, segway adventure, 2 different family half-day back country fishing charters (off-site). Endless things to do on the property! Amenity card was included with the rental which was great for nature center kid programs, dinner, & bike/segway rentals. We didn't golf or play tennis but the facilities/courses looked very nice. We are definitely planning a trip back! I would highly recommend.
