This is a true "Old Florida" cottage, completely, yet tastefully renovated so as to keep it's 1940's charm. When you drive up to the rustic picket fence you will see one of Florida's treasures- Western Lake- one of a handful of Coastal Dune Lakes found only in this small stretch of coast and no where else in the world! Seriously. Over 300 feet of shoreline is yours to enjoy. The cottage has never been a rental before, only family. When you walk in the front door- look to your left, they have signed the wall on visits for nearly 60 years. You are invited to do so also, please just keep it short. The screened porch faces the lake and runs end to end. Just sit back or lay down, its real quiet. The old town of Grayton Beach Circa 1890 is only a block away and so are the world famous beaches. You can Kayak to the beach also, as Coastal Dune Lakes are unique in that they lead right up to the waves. Try out the Red Bar restaurant, D&Ks, or Pandoras they are all in Old Grayton. If you want to hear a sensational Jazz band, The Red Bar's is world class. Seaside is about a mile away and maybe you'll see Truman there, that's where they made the movie. Shop, catch an outdoor concert or play, dozens of restaurants-that's Seaside, a very unique community. When your done with all that head back and have an outside fire and roast marshmallows.

We stayed at Coco's cabin for a week and a half while in town for a wedding. It was a wonderful place to stay. We loved how quiet it was and that it had a beautiful view of the lake! Each morning we had our morning coffee out on the dock. We walked everywhere and really enjoyed that we were able to bring our dog with us! She had a blast! We hope to be back next fall!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed here during the weekend of our wedding at a nearby state park. The owner was so kind to us in e-mail communications and our conversations over the phone. He had said "this was a special little place" and it turned out he was right. We love historical homes and this one has been updated quite nicely. We had immediate family over the night before and enjoyed grilling and using the outdoor porch area. The master bedroom has a comfortable bed and a view of the lake with double doors that open. There I sat on the steps looking out at the water and wrote some sentimental notes to my parents on the morning of our big day. Writers should feel right at home and the beauty of this place is inspiring. We walked to the beach the next day and had a lovely afternoon lounging (this area of the Gulf Coast really is the most beautiful green) and appreciated the outdoor shower. It almost reminded me of a mountain cabin, but at the beach instead. Grayton is still holding to its historical roots unlike the other beaches, but it's not that far away to get the groceries and even go shopping. We recommend the local eateries in Grayton that are right off 30A (and the well-known java-chain is right down the street). It was such a blessing to have this peaceful place during a busy wedding weekend and we regretted not booking more nights. Thus, this became "a special little place" to us as we spent our first night here as husband and wife (and we wrote our names on the old wall as other visitors have for so many years), and we hope to visit for our first anniversary next spring.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

If you're looking for 5 star, beach-front accommodations... with fast-paced raucous party action, continue your search. This isn't the property for you. If you're in search of a quiet, off-the-beaten path cottage, with easy access to all the other trappings, you might wanna' give 'er a try. The cottage is clean, well-maintained, comfortable, functional and relaxing. We were very comfortable and satisfied with our stay. The photos posted are pretty current as of this writing - no surprises to report. Reservations, payment, etc., went smoothly and, again, no surprises. We tacked-on an extra day at the end with no problems whatsoever... and I suppose that'll serve as a recommendation, of sorts, no? If you're not familiar with the Grayton Beach area, it's near Seaside, Watercolor, Blue Mt. Beach... and it's pretty much equidistance between Destin & Panama City (about 30-40 mins, depending on traffic). So if you're looking for quiet, with the occasional foray into the more traditional Florida night life, it's not too far away. The beach is accessible to vehicles with permits so bring your Jeep or truck but leave the sedan at the door. The cottage is pet friendly (our dachsund, Hunter, had a good time). The beach is also pet-friendly at certain hours. Be sure and check before you throw Fido in the back of the Jeep. Grayton also has "The Red Bar," along with one or two other nearby eateries, etc. Publix is 10 minutes away... so while it's neatly tucked away from the more hectic traffic and lifestyle of much of the Florida coast, it's easily accessible and near enough to provide whatever you need or want. Bottom line - Grayton is an idea destination for a more "mature" crowd - and is very family-friendly as well. Younger, more "thrill-seeking" crowd's probably better served by other venues. The property itself won't disappoint, just so long as you match your expectations to your final selection. Lauryn and I give it two thumbs-up and consider it a possible "do-over" down the road sometime!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

We spent three nights at Coco's and will definitely return! My son loved the fact that you can KAYAK TO THE BEACH from the cabin! Laid-back, relaxing property with all the amenities. Outdoor shower was a hit w/ the kids after coming back from the beach. Great for all outdoor activities=can fish off the dock, ride bikes to the Grayton Market, Red Bar and a short walk/bike ride to the beach. A jewel of a property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, tourists without a car.

This our family's second time staying at Coco's and we feel like it is ours while we're there. We decided it's better than being beachfront because you're nestled in those little crooked trees and looking out over that beautiful lake (but you can hear the surf from the screened porch)! We hope to return to Coco's many more times! The decor is beautiful and the house is so inviting. We enjoy using the kayaks and riding the bicycles all over South Walton county.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time at the beautiful and quaint Coco's Cabin. The location is perfect for getting to the beach, Redbar, biking, shopping and relaxing! We loved having the huge yard for the children to play in and we all enjoyed the use of the kayaks and bikes. The view around the lake is spectacular! We loved having bonfires at night and enjoyed the lakeside when the beach was too windy! The cottage itself is beautiful and furnished very comfortably. The owner was easy to work with and we hope to return again soon!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: We figured if you are going to the beach why not go to the very best.
Why the Owner Chose Grayton Beach:
Old Grayton Beach is such a romantic place to get away from it all, yet... have it all. Nestled on one of only a handful of Coastal Dune Lakes found in the whole world, at this cabin you will not see tourists, you won't hear cars but... you will hear mullet jumping, a Great American Blue Heron named CoCo crowing and you'll see Osprey, ducks, Kingfisher, Coots, Sandpipers, Gulls, Pelicans...you're probably getting the picture.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
In this remote part of the Emerald Coast you can walk to at least 5 restaurants, including the world famous Red Bar. Here you can sit on couches and listen to an amazing Jazz ensemble, eat from an eclectic seafood menu or hang out at the Bar (during the Summer it becomes a street party). Pandora's is quite the experience also with nightly live music and the highest quality steaks, prime rib and seafood. The futuristic community of Seaside is about a mile down Scenic 30-A with it's outdoor venues and artist community. Jim Carrey's movie "The Truman Show" was filmed entirely in this one of a kind pedestrian friendly enclave.
