SeaSpray Cottage is the quintessential 50's beach cabin! Wether you seek a family vacation cottage or a cozy romantic getaway cottage for two, SeaSpray is the perfect vacation cottage from which to explore and experience the beauty of Lopez Island, a jewel of the San Juan Islands. Known as the 'Friendly Isle', it is a haven for bicycling, kayaking, gentle hiking, beachcombing and beautiful views of the San Juan Islands and Olympic Mountains. Lopez Island is peaceful and quiet.
SeaSpray Cottage is 30 feet from the natural rock steps down onto our private, no-bank beach on Davis Bay. Launch your own kayak from the shore, fly kites with the kids, picnic on the sand or take your family for a bicycle tour of rolling farmlands and gentle fields. Your family can walk along the trails at Iceberg Point, explore Shark's Reef, play at Spencer Spit State Park or Watmough Bay.
SeaSpray's living room is perfect for spending time together; relaxing in front of the wood stove, reading or watching the water just out the windows that stretch across the front of the cottage. Move onto the Sun Porch, even closer to the beach and listen to the waves and the grumbling sea lions. There is a large dining table here for your evening meals. The kitchen is small but fully equipped for family style cooking. Plenty of dishes, glassware and cookware are provided for your use. You will also find a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, full set of kitchen knives and a hand mixer. The kitchen is open to the living room, across the breakfast counter, which will seat four. Along the eastern picture window off the kitchen sits a breakfast table for two more people.
The Master bedroom is on the ocean side of the cottage and has a double bed. From here a sliding glass door opens onto the Sun Porch so the breeze and water sounds will find you while sleeping. The kids will enjoy the cozy, built in 'cabin style' bunks in the garden side bedroom. We have provided fine quality cotton linens for all the beds and fluffy towels for after your showers. The bathroom has been freshly painted and the shower surround tiled, adding another sparkle to the cottage. Beach towels will accompany you to the shore for your adventures there.
It may look small, but SeaSpray Cottage has been a cozy, comfortable year round residence that is big on making memories for families! Whether in winter, summer, spring or fall there is no better spot for a getaway. Come be our guest at SeaSpray!
If you have a larger group, we can accomodate up to 13-15 people in all three of our cottages at Wildwood. Please visit: 'wildwoodcottagesonlopezisland' (all one word) @ shutterfly(dot)com for a large selection of our photographs!

Sun All Day & on the Beach: a '50's Beach Cottage!
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Lopez Island
We loved the sunny, expansive view of the sea framed by the Olympic Mountains and we love being right on the beach. We wanted to have our grown kids bring their children here, where they can make memories together. We watch eagles, deer, geese, otters, seals and sealions play at the water's edge.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
Unique to our property is the easy access to the beach. We can walk our kayaks to the water from our yard! We have beautiful gardens, a wide grassy lawn where kids can play badmiton and chase eachother in big circles. It's the best vacation spot we could ever imagine.
Here is the organic and conventional grocery store, restaurants and coffee shops, art galleries and the Saturday Farmers Market! It is 6 miles or 10 minutes from SeaSpray Cottage.
Our favorite hike!Walk the many gentle trails along the edge of the sea. Easy walking and great for kids.
This is a great place to watch the seals on the rocks and some awesome riptides! See amazing sunsets from here...it's walking distance from the house (1 mile)
Owner's Map of Lopez Island
Lopez Island has long been our favorite place in the San Juan Islands! We jumped at the chance to take care of and share this magnificent spot on the sunny, south shore of Davis Bay. It is our dream come true!

We actually stayed in Wildwood Cottage, which is on the same property as SeaSpray. Wildwood was terrific. There was a real vibe of coziness, and everything was clean and well-appointed. The library was unusually well-stocked, and I spent the better part of one day slowly flipping through their book on Gaugin. Lots of books on art, cooking, and gardening, along with well-selected fiction; a person could hibernate here for the entire winter. Kitchen and cooking equipment were just great as well, and we ended up cooking almost all our meals in because we couldn't tear ourselves away from this fantastic little nook of Lopez Island. Views of the water were excellent, and soothing. We saw lots of otters (who even hopped onto the beach for a quick respite) and plenty of eagles and cormorants. Comfy bed, comfy chairs and couches; everything has a nice, lived-in feel (and I completely mean that in a good way; this is far from a cold, sterile, antiseptic vacation rental). Beautiful grounds and gardens; great location. Terrific overall. We hope to return soon.
Owner response:Thank you for this wonderful review! We are delighted that you enjoyed the cottage, it's vibe, amenities and the incredible piece of earth that it sits upon. We feel so lucky to take care of this special place and love to share it with our guests. Please return again soon, and as often as you can! My family and I enjoyed SeaSpray cottage for 4 nights in August and Michelle and Lani were so accommodating and welcoming. We felt very special. The cottage was well equipped for some fun cooking and the location was beautiful and functional for lawn games and just laying out in the sun. A fun place to get away from it all and experience the Lopez Island life.
Owner response:We really enjoy seeing our guests relaxing and playing at the edge of the Salish Sea. Sharing this incredible place with families, like yours, was truly a treat for us as well.

The stay at Seapray was remarkable in its tranquility and invigoration. Naturally, the scenic views are spectacular and are matched by the quiet walks on the beach, sounds of the waves at night and the enveloping gentle rhythm of the location. Another plus was being able to run on the near deserted country roads and breath deeply the fresh air or walk to Shark's Reef and be entertained by the herons, eagles and sea lions. Then again watching deer, harbor seals and otters from the deck is eqally as enjoyable. I must say the property is spotlessly clean, extraordinarily well-maintained and very comfortable. One note about the property owners; they are welcoming, charming, gracious and let you enjoy yourselves without interuption. Will we return? As soon as the calendar permits!
Owner response:We also enjoy the quiet rythms and nature's gifts bestowed on this special spot on Davis Bay. We are so glad to share it with our guests! Just after your stay, we were on the beach watching the sun set after one of the first, warm summer days, and we saw in a group of creatures swim across the bay heading straight for us. At first sighting we thought they were ducks, but they swam in an unusual way...and had tails that would appear every so often. To our amazement, they were 11 river otters; young and old, that deftly came out of the water and dissapeared into the ravine to our east, without so much as a sound. It was a great sighting! We are so glad that you appreciated the quaint charm of the cottage, the pristine surroundings and enjoyed your stay at SeaSpray. Please do return as quickly as your calendar allows. Our thanks, Michelle and Lanie

What a rare treat... a fabulous location, beautiful accomodations, and a world apart from Seattle yet only a couple of hours away. We felt like we were transported to another time and dimension! The beach is wonderful... private, interesting and excting all rolled into one. We could have spent many more hours experiencing and exploring. Our time was just too short and we will go back soon! Mary and Ardyth
Owner response:Dear Mary and Ardyth, It was also a rare treat for us to have such appreciative and wonderful guests. Thank you for infusing the cottage with your warm and lovely energy. We really thrive on seeing our guests awed and inspired by the beach, the views and the peace of this place. We love to share it. Please do return soon and often to the cottages. Our thanks, Michelle and Lanie

A Fabulous Respite From the Real World

The weather report predicted wind, rain and snow....surprise, surprise, we had beautiful sunny weather in February. It was glorious and of course we are taking credit for it and claiming we brought it from Nevada. We loved our cottage, Lopez, the beach...it was all so fabulous. You have created a very special respite from the real world. Everything we could have wished for was in the cottage. it is all very representative of the love and care you have put into your property. Thank you for recommending The Bay restaurant. Our dinner was fabulous and they took great care with one of our "gluten free" diners. We also had a couple of fun and lovely visits with Robert at the local coffee shop. By the way, he makes an incredible cappuccino. We will definitely be back and will tell our friends about this incredible find.
Owner response:Dear Deb & Gary, It was wonderful to meet both of you and have you stay at the cottages. You were marvelous guests and it gave us such great pleasure to see you enjoying yourselves; walking the beach, sitting around the fire ring with a mug of morning coffee, exploring the island, it's treasured spots and meeting our island personalities! Please visit again soon. The beach will be waiting for you. Our best, Michelle and Lanie

SeaSpray Cottage was a wonderful, peaceful and inspiring getaway, offering one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever had the pleasure to be enchanted by. I could have stayed on the beach there forever! The island is also great to explore and if you are in to local, organic foods, they are abundant at some of the area farms and it is so much fun to bring it home to a cozy cottage with a marvelous view to cook! I could barely tear myself away from the windows while inside during the day. I enjoyed the warmth and beauty at night of the fire burning stove and comfy bed. Thank you for a fantastic, timeless time in nature.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cottage with us! This is our first vacation we've taken as a new family of 4, following the birth of our second son, Russell, in May. We couldn't imagine a more restful place to spend six days together. Rain & shine brought us to the beach to play with our two year old, Charlie. He loves every stick and rock out there! We also enjoyed exploring Lopez Island, especially Horse Drawn Farm, the Iceberg Point hike, the bucloic country roads and scenery.

This was our second stay here at SeaSpray and both have been so lovely! We've loved getting to know the island in both the winter and summer. SeaSpray is such a perfect home away from home for our little family. Abby & Jack both had a wonderful time playing all day at the beach and we all love falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. We'll always remember our time here with lots of smiles and laughter, it's been amazing!
