Dolce Toscana is an intimate, private estate nestled on a wooded hillside overlooking the Etruscan Riviera about five minutes from the medieval villages of Montescudaio and Guardistallo, fifteen minutes from Casale, Bolgari and the sandy beaches of Bibbona.

We are 40 minutes south of Pisa Airport and 20 west of Volterra, 45 from San Gimigniano. Just follow the wine route!

Accommodations are provided in an 18th century manor house called La Quercia. The grounds are comprised of: 2 hectares (5 acres) of lawn, olive groves, grapevines, fruit orchard, woods and farmlands extend as far as the eye can see, over the Cecina's river valley.

La Quercia villetta, 135 square meters (1,400 square feet) has two bedrooms, two baths, and sleeps up to five. It has a gourmet island kitchen that opens up into a large dining area with a fireplace and a sitting room. A private terrace accessible from the kitchen offers an outstanding view of the river valley below.

The family library, wireless internet access, outdoor grill, laundry facilities, bikes and covered parking are available. La Quercia has a dishwasher and has been completely renovated and tastefully decorated to a high standard.

Historical tours and wine tasting tours in DOC wineries are available upon request.

English, French, Spanish and Portuguese are spoken here.
Pet friendly if well behaved.
European style breakfast is offered for an additional €.5 per day, minimum requirement of 3 days service.

  • Talking about a great Girlfriend getaway in Tuscany.... If you want a great location to call home base for your exploration of Tuscany, I highly recommend Dolce Toscana 5 minutes outside of the quaint village of Montescudaio and right in the heart of Italy's wine region and many medieval hill towns. My childhood girlfriend and I stayed at Dolce Toscana for 3 nights and plan to return again in the near future for a much longer stay. Only 30 minutes from the Pisa airport, it was easy to get to and we were excited to discover how much of this region we could see within an hour or two in any direction. The hill village of Volterra a 25 minute drive away is a must see! This being our first trip to Italy, we were somewhat hesitant about renting a car because of all of the warnings we had read but found driving in Tuscany to be much like it is in the states understanding that they do drive faster. You cannot enjoy this region without your own transportation. Dolce Toscana is located on a crest of an olive orchard over looking vineyards and a stunning view of a beautiful valley below. Our 2 bedroom apartment Nespola had the best bathroom of our entire 10 day trip through Italy and was quiet, clean and cozy. The rates are reasonable and for 5 euro a day a basket of local breakfast foods was waiting outside our door each morning to get us started and on our way. Our host Silvia Harris who speaks Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish and English has poured her heart and soul into Dolce Toscana and it shows. She left the U.S. to realize her dream of owning an Inn in Tuscany and to share this most beautiful place.
