We love the beach and purchased our second home for a quick weekend getaway and vacations for us and our family. From Portland it's a quick 1.5 hour drive to relaxation and fresh ocean air
Why the Owner Chose Rockaway Beach
We fell in love with the area, there are no motels or condos in the neighborhood so the beach is pretty secluded. The house location is a short 500' walk to the beach and on a very quiet street and flat street that is great for our grand kids to ride bikes on. Down the road is a small pond that is stocked yearly with trout, our 10 year old grandson loves to fish there.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We are never board at the beach with so many activities near by.
Obviously the beach is the main attraction but we also are next to the Nehalem river which provides a great location for fishermen, surfers and Kayaks. State parks with hiking and bike riding trails are abundant close by. We are located between Rockaway and Wheeler. These little towns offer antiquing, nice restaurants, sightseeing train rides and gift shops. Less than a 20 minute drive north to Nehalem, Manzinita and Cannon beach for unique shopping and gallery experiences. To the south Garibaldi with it's deep sea fishing outlets and Tilliamook with the famous cheese factory, air museum, movie theater, historic museum and much more.
For lazy days your can's beat sitting on the front deck with a book to relax or on the beach watching the waves roll in.
Evenings spent cooking hot dogs over a beach fire with roasted marshmallows can complete a wonderful day. (We keep plenty of kids beach buckets and shovels for everyone's use in the garage)

A Great Beach House For All

Our Family of 4 stayed at this Beach House in Rockaway Oregon and Loved it!! There were several bedrooms with very comfortable beds and linen. The house is updated and kept very clean. The Kitchen was fully stocked to accomodate most any dinner. There were books, games and local cable to keep the litte ones entertained. The location (which is one block from the beach) was perfect as you could sit on the deck or the courtyard with little direct wind and also quickly access a very clean and beautiful beach. There was also a cute fishing pond located approximatley 1/2 a block from the house that locals and vacationers flock to for some quick and fun fishing with the their families. We enjoyed dinners and lunches at some of the Restaurants within the City. We also rode the train from Rockaway to Tillamook with our children and they had a blast. We would truly reccomend this vacation house for families or couples that want to have fun and be very comfortable with all of the included amenitities.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

This house is located a block from the beach and close drive to Rockaway beach shopping and food. Isn't cute outside but is just fine inside. Master bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs. There were TV's in every room. No dishwasher, which was fine. Stocked kitchen. Beds were good. We enjoyed the pellet stove. Plenty of parking. This house was clean. Owner is not super fast with responses, but did respond within 24 hours. They asked us to wash all the linens before leaving. I didn't love that so much. We did have an issue with an awful smell in the house. It was just a fluke that we were the ones that stayed there when something died under the house. I am pretty sure it was just a one time thing and you would be fine staying there. The house is old but a family could have a fabulous time there. and wouldn't tell you not to go. The owners did what they could for us to make it right. So, to sum it up. Clean, good location, and good for a family.
Owner response:In the 5 years this home has been rented, this was our first and only complaint. We immediately responded to their concern and resolved . The house is immaculate, we have always received excellent feedback and have many repeat renters who have enjoyed the quaintness of a clean older home that is well furnished by the beach.
Recommended for:People with disabilities, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
