The dining area seats up to 16 and is open to the family room which consists of a large wall of glass windows overlooking the sunroom and the lake. Just a few steps down from the family room, is the bright and cheery sunroom which is also surrounded in floor to ceiling glass. This is the perfect place to enjoy your morning cup of coffee or to use as an additional dining area. Right outside the main house, a private bungalow provides a large, separate sleeping area for those who want to get away from the rest of the crowd or for the older kids who want a place of their own. This area includes three twin over full bunk beds, TV, DVD player, and a refrigerator for your convenience. A private deck gives you the best views of the lake.

This is a picture of the Thompson family at one of their favorite restaurants, The Gruene Onion Grill in New Braunfels. Greg & Tana Thompson are the proud owners of BlueMoon Inn on Lake Dunlap. Tana Thompson is a graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos and Greg is an A&M alum. Taylor, the oldest daughter also graduated from Texas State University and has just been accepted to their graduate program beginning summer 2010. Their son Hunter is a student at Tomball High School.
The Thompson's bought BlueMoon Inn in September of 2008 and totally renovated the property inside and out. They also added a third bathroom, a separate bungalow closer to the water along with a hot tub and stone patio with fire pit. This home is a great place to sit back and relax, but still only 5 miles from the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers.

Stayed at BlueMoon Inn in December 2011, and we had a very enjoyable family vacation. The house is just as depicted. The backyard is large and we really enjoyed the fire pit. My 3 boys (ages 6, 10, 10) really enjoyed gathering pecans, playing football, and especially using the paddleboat. The beds are all comfortable and we felt right at home. We had our one year old baby with us and found the house easy to keep her safe in, the only stairs are going down into the sunroom, so we could just close the door to keep her from falling. The hot tub was a nice amenity as well.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Great place for a large crowd, a very well equipped kitchen, a place for everyone to sit and sleep, lots of televisions, which was nice as it rained one of the days we were there and not everyone wanted to watch football. A very pretty view of the water, we caught enough fish for a fish fry for 15 people, convenient to everything, most importantly it was very clean.

We had a family get together and traveled from Sugar Land & San Antonio. We had a wonderful time! The home exceeded our expectations. It is equipped with everything you need (and then some), has beautiful views of the water the moment you walk in the front door, and was very clean. Tana & Greg have put a lot of thought and effort into making you feel extremely comfortable from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave. We grilled, ate, fished, watched football, relaxed and enjoyed each other's company. We never left the house, except for those who got in a morning run. There were 8 adults and a baby, and everyone had plenty of space. We enjoyed morning coffee sitting around the pit by the water and in the sunroom. The different levels and areas for sitting on the deck and by the water were perfect. We were lucky to get gorgeous weather (low 60's to high 80's) and soaked up every bit of it. I highly recommend this home!! We were extremely impressed.

What a wonderful place for our family to come together - parents, children and grandchildren. A good time was had by all. Meal preparation was easy because of a well stocked kitchen. Everyone slept comfortablyand no lines formed at the bathrooms. Add the dock,water,bost and jet ski (ours) and what more could you ask for.

Lake Dunlap is a beautiful setting. This property was perfect for our family reunion of 14 (ages 14-76). The home was clean and well maintained and the kitchen was superbly stocked. The pictures very accurately depict the setting. We brought our boat and jet ski with no problems. You may want to call and check the status of the water levels before you come if you are bringing watercraft. The owner instructions were very detailed and quite helpful. We would definitely considering returning to this home.

Wow! This is a great home in a perfect location! We had a great time & will recommend this home to all of our friends & family. We literally did not have to bring anything except for food and additional lake toys. Everything was provided from BBQ utensils, bathroom toiletries, even card/board games. There was plenty of room for all of my guests and some even enjoyed the hot tub during the hot summer! Great communication as we called/e-mailed back and forth with questions. We even enjoyed their recommendation of visiting Gruene and The Gristmill. There was even a bunkhouse that could hold several more people, but we didn't even put that to use. Everyone mentioned how beautiful and NICE the lakehouse was, and that we would most likely be returning here for our next get together. The homeowner did warn me of a wary neighbor, and we did see him peek his head every hour to check on us - go away, man! My advice: be honest with the homeowner of your intentions on the rental including guests, age, and "party" type (if any). But like my title says, this lake house is above and beyond any other one I have stayed in before.

Renters Beware!

This property was perfect for the ten of us who met for a girls reunion. We had a lovely time and only stayed in the main house. After our return home we were accused of breaking a knob that had previously been glued together and leaving a pillow there and taking one of the homeowner's pillows instead. After contacting the group I reported that no one in my group had a "switched" pillow. I was accused by the homeowner of doing such and told that $10.00 would be deducted from my deposit for a new pillow and another $10.00 deducted for the broken knob. When we checked in, the previous group was late in checking out, and the maid was very flustered and cleaning very fast and may not have noticed the door knob had been glued back together and the switched pillow. I have stayed in at least 15 VRBO's in four states and never had an experience like this. So you future renters BE AWARE that this homeowner is willing to charge you a TRIFLING $20.00 when you have just stayed 3 days in an expensive four bedroom home!! The sad thing is that we really wanted to return next year for our reunion, so the real loser is this homeowner.
Owner response:When asked about the above issues, the response of the guest was very rude. I would never accuse anyone as this is not my nature. This is a very nice home and we love for guests to stay here who see all the hard work we have put into the place for their enjoyment. This is the first time I have charged for a missing pillow but it was obvious they took the pillow because all our pillows were accounted for except for one and instead, a dirty, old and musty pillow was left in its place. The maid was not "confused" about the above issues. I have the same maid for every cleaning. All of our pillows are very nice and brand new! The knob was not "glued" as well. Someone from their party had to kick it pretty hard to break the knob in half. If the guest had just talked to me about all of this, we would not have had an issue.
