Private Homes house description

Renovated charming Kiawah home with upscale bathrooms, kitchen, premium bedding and new furniture.

House is 900 yards from Kiawah's gorgeous 10 mile beach, rated among best in the country for walking, dolphin watching, and sunbathing. Two (or more) bikes are provided for cruising miles of bike trails on Kiawah. New high definition flat panel TV's throughout house including 52 inch big screen in family room and 32 inch in each bedroom.

Wi-Fi installed in house and also available throughout many venues on the island. Kiawah has numerous golf, tennis, kayaking, biking and canoeing opportunities. The Ocean Course, open to the public, hosted the PGA championship in 2012. The Sanctuary resort is a 5 star property located about 1 mile from our house. Night Herron Park, with basketball courts, soccer fields, and other kids activities is about half a mile away.

Charleston's spectacular restaurants, shopping, and restored homes are 20 miles north of Kiawah. Many local restaurants on Kiawah are also highly rated. An extensive list of restaurants and other recommended activities is available to our renters with a near pulitzer prize owners sheet. The Freshfields shopping center is about 3 miles away at the entrance to Kiawah. Freshfields has an upscale grocery store, restaurants, and other beach essential shopping.

Kiawah is a naturalists dream for bird watching, gator gazing, and dolphin sightings. A great horned owl nests frequently in our yard and provides a hoot to everyone. Deer frequent the yard and eat only the expensive plantings with impunity. A white heron rookery is located at the end of our street and creates nightly excitement when the great white birds come in for their sunset landings.

At the end of Kiawah Island near Capt. Sam's inlet, local dolphins provide free entertainment with their unusual habit of stranding baitfish on the shore. Sunrises and sunsets on the beach are just minutes away. The house is about a 10-15 minute walk or quicker bike ride to the beach.

If only I could give more than 5 stars. This is a lovely, well maintained property which is close to one of the best beaches I have ever visited. The sand is white and the water is a perfect compromise between tepid and bath-like. There were 4 bikes available for our use and the paths to the beaches, observation tower and grocery were shady and green. Take a walk at night and see the stars without light pollution. I had not really seen the Milkyway in years, but it's still there! We forgot bug spray but noticed that there were only mosquitoes at dawn and dusk. After about 9pm, we could be out without any insects whatsoever. Everything about the house and property is accurately described and in life all the rooms are larger than we expected. We cooked all meals in the well stocked, well appointed kitchen and were able to get local produce at the farm stands just down the road. Chez Fish supplied exquisite seafood. There did seem to be interesting restaurants nearby and in the city, but we're weird about food and have some allergies so just stayed in. If we are lucky enough to return to Kiawah, we would consider flying into Charleston as the schlep from Charlotte was longish at 3 1/2 hours. Charleston city market was worth a browse and the city itself is lovely for walking tours. We do not play golf, but of course Kiawah is the place to be if you do. All communications with the owner, Ken, were easy and helpful. We would recommend this heavenly property without the slightest reservation. Thank you, Ken!

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful home for two weeks. Two other couples stayed with us the first week. There was plenty of room for all! We enjoyed the PGA for the first week and Kiawah Island the second week. The owners were very easy to work with and their home is everything they said it would be. There is lots of room to spread out and we loved the kitchen! My husband loved the office area where we saw the deer in the mornings. All the information about what to do and see on the Island and in the area was a great help. We plan on returning. Thanks so much Ken and Stephanie for sharing your home.

My husband and I, along with another couple, rented this 3 bedroom home for 6 nights. We absolutely loved it. We felt at home the minute we walked through the door. My husband and I took the Master Bedroom and spread out - which is easy to do - there is a beautiful walk-in closet with lots of storage, shelf and hanging space. The bathroom is a "loo with a view" and the shower is to die for! Plus, there is a sliding door to the deck. The other two bedrooms were roomy as well and all three have great beds. The second bath is a very nice size and has a great shower too! The dining/living room area is huge and very comfortable with a wood burning fireplace in the center if you stay there during cooler weather. The kitchen was well equipped and great to cook in. Fabulous stove/oven and a huge refrigerator. We ate all of our meals in the kitchen, but if you have a larger party - the dining room is perfect. My favorite part of the house was the room off of the kitchen which has a comfortable couch for reading and a long desk with a view of the side woods for your computer. I had to work while we were there and it was so pleasant and relaxing just watching the birds at the feeders and the deer making their daily trek. There is a huge laundry room as well off the kitchen with stairs to the side parking area and outside storage closets. In the evenings we sat on the deck and relaxed for hours. No bugs and a beautiful setting, plus we had perfect weather. We rode our bikes, walked on the beach, investigated the beautiful neighborhood this home is located in and just enjoyed all that Kiawah Island has to offer. What more can you ask for? Ken is a dream to work with and watches out for your every need. We can't wait to go back in the Fall. Book early if you plan to rent this house as it is very popular because of its size, location and affordability!

After our first stay in this exceptional home in June, we knew we wanted to return, which we did in October. We have stayed on Kiawah Island probably 20 times, and this home is by far the best we've ever rented. The house is beautiful, the beds are wonderfully comfortable, and everything you could possibly need is provided. The owner is great to work with, and very quick to respond to any questions. I can't say enough about what a great experience it is to stay here. We've found our home away from home!

This was the second year we stayed at this home and this time was every bit as wonderful as last year's. The property is wooded and beautiful--on two occasions we saw deer grazing in the yard. The home is very comfortable and well-equipped. The pictures do not fully reflect the lovely furnishings and spaciousness of this house. It is very much a "home away from home" with an upscale kitchen with wine refrigerator, office/den space for reading the paper in the morning, and televisions in each room. The owner is very accomodating and easy to contact. He provides an extremely helpful 6 page summary that covers everything you need to know about the house, contact persons, the island, and good restaurants recommendations. A highlight for us is the four bikes that are available--we rode all over the island! The beach is within walking distance and an easy bike ride away. This is a gem of a property rental and we are very glad we came across this home last year when we decided to head to Kiawah. This is a vacation my teenage children enjoyed and as we left both times they said they wish this had been a two week stay! We greatly look forward to our next summer in Kiawah.

We had such a wonderful time at this beautiful home. The upgrades are wonderful - both baths have been updated, beautiful hardwood floors and a cook's kitchen. The grill outside is wonderful too. The owner's have done such a wonderful job with this home. There is a ton of space. We were a family of four and had so much room. The owner is wonderful to work with as well. We will try to stay here from now on (we come to Kiawah every year). The location is great too - you are pretty centrally located - close to the park and in between east and west beach. We rode all around on the bikes and were at the beach in no time (the owner usually has at least 2 - we rented one with a trailer for the kids). Whichever beach we decided to visit!

My family has been vacationing on Kiawah since 1994 (back when I found villas to rent by looking at the ads in the back of Southern Living!), and we've never stayed in the same place twice; but now we've found our permanent second home. This house has everything you could ask for at a reasonable price: it is clean, spacious, excellently equipped and furnished, and is in a wonderful location. We rode the provided bikes to the beach and all over the island, then were able to come home and rinse off in the outdoor shower, cook a meal in the gourmet kitchen, and eat it out on the shady deck. Before the week was out, I'd used my laptop, set up in the convenient office area, to book a week for next summer!

Our family just returned from an incredible week in this beautiful and comfortable home. The owner has thought of all the extras: an incredible kitchen, exquisite matresses, towels, showers,3 bicycles, all the little things which make you feel very pampered. The pictures do not do this lovely home justice. Located near a lot with wildlife, I saw a deer 1 day and the most beautiful birds all week. The beach is only a bicycle ride away.

This was our 4th trip to Kiawah, and by far the best house we've rented there. Every room was just perfect. The lot is heavily wooded, making the very nice back deck private and relaxing. The included bikes were well maintained, and there were even beach chairs! We only needed our car for a ride to Charleston - otherwise we were on the bikes all day - and we're in our 60's. This is where we'll stay at Kiawah from now on.
