Three of us stayed at this great apartment recently and it was exactly as described by the owner. Fantastically clean and with a great layout it was an excellent base for our week's stay in NYC. Maryla and Geoffrey are very good hosts - available if you need them and unobtrusive if you don't Links to Manhattan are very easy, Greenpoint Avenue is the nearest station (5 minutes) and it's a very easy and quick link to Midtown Manhattan. The East River Ferry is great and gets you to Wall Street very quickly. The local restaurants are very good - better than many on Manhattan and cheaper; Five Leaves and Calyer were particular local favourites. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to our friends.

I stayed at this property for 10 days with my partner, my sister and her partner, when we arrived we were delighted with the apartment, it has lovely original period features with decorative mouldings and high ceilings. The kitchen and bathroom are really well finished with plenty of appliances to make your stay more comfortable. The location itself is pretty good with teh subway and the east river ferry close by to get to New York itself, I would recommend using the ferry crossing on sunny days to enjoy the good views. Also nearby are good local bars, local shops, cookie rd is a must for chocolate lovers, there is also a lovely chinese a few streets up near Macdonalds, aswell as little clothes shops close by. Maryla herself was friendly, polite and helpful upon greeting us and shows us the good places to visit and best ways to travel around. Clearly takes pride in her property as it lovely in many ways. We really enjoyed this option of renting a house instead of staying in a hotel as it gives you more flexibility to enjoy your holiday the way you want to whilst not having to worry about hotel schedules, this is also really good value for money. We enjoyed this so much we are hoping to return either later in the yr or next yr. Only piece of advice is an extra sofa would be helpful by moving over dining table into void by tv, Perfect otherwise.

I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay here. The flat is as pictured, spotless and very comfortable. Really, the cleaning was so well done. Maryla was very sweet. The apartment is not far from every cool spot in Greenpoint, including some very good restaurants. The subway is a 10 minute walk, and all you would need is available to you on that walk. The local car service was totally reliable and took us to Manhattan in 15 minutes. I was very happy here!

I am a proud resident of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. My family was visiting from Thailand and needed a place in the neighborhood to stay for the week. Usually they stay in a hotel while visiting but after this trip, they have made of their minds! They fell in love with this apartment. It is spotless and has every imaginable amenity you may need while away from home (my mom was super excited about the washer/dryer). In addition, they loved experiencing the "hip" neighborhood while still being a close train ride away from Manhattan. This apartment is now our new go-to place for all our family members to stay!

I live with my family in Greenpoint and booked this apartment for my parents and my aunt, all visiting from Germany for the Marathon (my Dad actually ran the Marathon, -his 2nd in NY!!). They stayed for 10 days and enjoyed it very much. The apartment is bright, clean, very, very comfortable and everything is brandnew- it feels like a home away from home. The apartment is in the historic district of Greenpoint close to everything you need, shops, restaurants and great food stores (Garden Market) and a 10 min walk to the heart of Williamsburg. It is minutes away from the East River Ferry which has a stop at India Street in Greenpoint and another stop in Williamsburg at North 6th Street. Hop on the ferry and it takes you upstream to Long Island City in Queens and to Midtown 34th Street (just two stops). From there you can take a free shuttle bus to Broadway. The bus stops at every regular bus stop and loops back to the Ferry via 6th Avenue, 48th Street and Lexington Avenue. Take the ferry downtown with stops on the Brooklyn side at North 6 Street, Schaefer Landing (South Williamsburg) and at the Brooklyn Bridge Park (Fulton Street Landing) before it continues to Manhattan and Pier 11 next to the Financial District, only a 5 minute walk to Pier 17 and maybe a 10-15minutes walk to Wall Street and the WTC Memorial. The Ferry is the quickest way to get to Midtown and the Financial District with stunning views of Manhattans Skyline. Subway stops for the G train are in close range (maybe a 2-3min walk). The G-train takes you into Queens where you can connect to the M/E train to Manhattan (and Central Park) or into Brooklyn to connect to the A/C train to Manhattan. Or walk 10-15min to Williamsburg and take the L-train to union Square. This apartment felt like a home, no comparison with NY’s overpriced hotels, and is in short distance to Manhattan (again the Ferry ride is stunning). My parents loved all about it (and my kids too). They also liked the feeling to be part of the neighborhood, do their own shopping, cooking sometimes and have a place that feels like theirs for a short time. We absolutely loved our stay at Maryla's place. Every bit you read in the other reviews is true! The apartment is better organized, cleaner and nicer then my own at home. Recently they opend up a ferry from Indiastreet (just a few blocks from the appartment, $4) towards manhattan with several stops along the way. You can get off at the brooklyn bridge and walk towards downtown. It's the best. The neighbourhoud is changing so fast -in a good way- that it's attracting tourist by itself. If you are looking for a place that is away from Manhattan with the best value for money this is your place.

Best family apartment in New York

It was our first trip to New York (also USA) and we were so confident to choose this apartment. Maryla and Geoffrey, thank you so much for your hospitality and helpful informations … The apartment is very clean, calm, the beds are extremely comfortable. We felt very safe in this area of Brooklyn. Maryla solved every little problem; extra eiderdowns for the frosted North-Germans (the weather was unusual for us: from extremely hot to cold), call a taxi to the airport, … Geoffrey speaks perfectly German. This was very helpful for us. In this polish area of Brooklyn you can buy everything for fresh cooking. There are a lot of polish and organic shops, butchers, bakeries, … , just a short walk away. We have never had a better family apartment. A flat with lovely details: Schlesische Bunzlauer Keramik (Boleslawiec pottery). And I cannot translate the following meaning in English: Maryla vermietet mit Herz und Seele. Es liegt ihr sehr viel daran, dass es ihren Gästen sehr gut geht und sie sich so wohl wie möglich fühlen. Danke!!

We stayed really well in this apartment, quiet, pleasant, clean, confortable and supplied with better electric household appliances. When we arrived, Maryla and Jeffrey welcomed us with warmth and kindness, very appreciated after an hallucinating journey from JFK with a crazy taxi driver in a car without conditioned air! Apart from this, our stay in NYC has been fantastic. Maryla has been really disposable in all the occasions that we needed of her help. The beds were confortable and they had been a sweet cradle for our dreams. If we'll return in NYC surely our address will be 2 Clifford Place! We recommend it to friends and relatives. Greenpoint is a quiet district with many shops, supermarkets and services. Subway and buses are near home and there is a beautiful park full of life. We thank newyorkers very much for their kindness and Maryla and Jeffrey for all things they have done for us. We'll sure retain a wonderful clear memory of these holidays. So... the Oscar goes to... Maryla and Jeffrey!

What can I say....I am honored to have stayed at Clifford House! Maryla and Jeffrey were both incredibly when we arrived and give us the "insiders" view of the area which we were so pleased to have. I called to inquire about avail at the last minute since our SUNY cadet was arriving the next day. Maryla was so gracious and sincerely, personifies hospitality! The accomodations were more than expected, and the apartment was impeccably clean, well appointed and just perfect for what we were looking for. Truly a class act and clearly, these folks are professionals in all that they do! Parking was not an issue; we parked almost directly in front of the house every time. As far as the area, it was charming and very easy to get around. My only regret is that we didn't have more time! I would love to have taken a walk to the park, and the hosts recommend the ferry for a quick tour of the waterfront area of New York. There is an abundance of eateries in the area for all tastes and price ranges. You can park your car for the entire weekend and just get around on foot. As I said, the home was fabulous, and sincerely, for the price, and incredible bargain. I would say two couples could stay here comfortably and there was even a washer/dryer which makes the return trip easier as i like to return with clean clothes. All in all - one of the best experiences I've had going to New York. We've used HomeAway twice before, and this was by far, the best experience we've had and would recommend this to anyone. It was a weekend I won't forget and we will definitely be back! Thank you Maryla and Jeffrey for being so welcoming and warm....you were both truly a blessing!

WOW! That should sum it up. Our stay in NY was fabulous all because of the comfortable accomodation we had. The apartment was the cleanest place I've EVER been. It was absolutely spotless and sooo... comfortable. We had complete privacy, and it was located within minutes of anywhere you would want to go in NY. When I go to NY again ( it will be soon) I hope it will be available for it is certainly THE BEST ! Maryla and Jeffery were so nice and helpful. My husband and I consider that now we have a Home away from Home. Everything was just as it was advertised and more.

Nous sommes venus à deux reprises (2009 et 2011) dans ce luxueux appartement très bien situé à Brooklyn. D'un accès facile depuis JFK (2 changements), cet appartement donne tout le confort aux visiteurs, en permettant de découvrir un autre mode de vie à celui de Manhattan. Cet appartement est situé dans une rue typique de brooklyn à moins de 10 minutes à pied de la station de métro "Greenpoint". Les propriétaires, Maryla et son époux, forment un couple très sympathique, ils nous ont accueillis chaleureusement avec des boissons fraiches à notre arrivée. Avec notre grande famille (2 adultes et 4 enfants), nous avons logé dans cet appartement spacieux qui comportait tout le confort utile pour quelques jours de vacances (lave linge, sèche linge, frigidaire, four, four à micro-ondes, accès internet par WIFI). On se croirait chez soi ! Nous avons apprécié de pouvoir préparer nous même notre repas le soir, après une journée de marche dans new york et fatigués avec le décallage horaire. A quelques minutes de l'appartement se trouvent de nombreuses épiceries, un restaurant type Mc Do, plusieurs petits restaurants. Nous sommes habitués à voyager et sommes allés plusieurs fois aux Etats Unis, cette formule de logement nous a semblé idéale, dans un rapport qualité prix imbattable pour une famille. Bon séjour à Brooklyn !

Maryla's apartment in Greenpoint is ideally situated: 5 minutes walk to the shops, 15 minutes walk to the bars of Williamsburg and only three stops by subway to Manhattan. Clifford Place is a very quiet location. The only thing you can hear in the morning time are the birds. The apartment is nicely furnished and there are all the facilities you need: washing machine, fully equipped kitchen and everything else. Maryla has recently done some builders work. So the kitchen and the living room are now open, and the new door in the hallway makes it a real private apartment. Maryla is a very nice person. She would bring fresh flowers, give you advice where to go for dinner or help with your program in town. We've spent three weeks in Maryla's apartment . It made a big part to our perfect stay in New York.

After my parents stayed in one of Maryla's (the owner's) apartments for a 2 week stay and absolutely loved it, I reccommended my friends also stay when they came to town but to check out this apartment since the other one was fully booked. It is in a beautiful brownstown and decorated so nicely that you feel you are at home.. only better! I wish my home looked like this!! It reminded me of a quaint British Bed and Breakfast except you can do your own cooking. Maryla the owner is such a sweetheart and will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable. There are also brochures in the apartment for suggestions on where to eat and go in the neighborhood. I have never seena temporary apartment do this! The area is great to, a short walk to the park and neighboring Williamsburg which is full of boutiques and restaurants and bars. I can't reccommend this place enough. An adorable apartment at a crazy low price! I searched all over NY for my parents and after finding this place I am reccomeding it to all my friends who come to stay!

I enjoyed staying at your newly renovated apartment. the new private entrance only enhances the charm of the apartment. It's sunny yet the street is very quiet and we got an excellent night's sleep on the comfortable beds. The newly renovated kitchen is perfect. The place is located in a great neighborhood that has a lot of charmand characters and his convenient to Manhattan. We left very much at home and you were the perfect hostess. It was great staying here with my friends. The rental was great, we had our own apartment, it was clean, private, and there was just an overall comfortable feeling. We were left alone, unless we needed something, and it was just a fun experience. The owner Maryla is very professional, she responded to our email quickly and she seemed very knowledgeable of what is going on around the neighborhood which helped a lot. This location is in Brooklyn; the Williamsburg / Greenpoint area. The "G" train is a 5 minute walk from the house, and connected easily into the city (Manhattan Island). Also the "L" train is a 10-15 minute walk from the house and it is 1 stop from the city. Shopping is convenient, there is a grocery store a 2 minutes away, and a main street that has a bunch of shops and places to eat. Also the Wiliamsburg area has a great nightlife, with bars, galleries, and venues. It always seems like there is something going on. The overall picture of the neighborhood shows a strange demographic, of young urban professionals and hipsters, mixed with a native the Polish population, it really makes for an authentic experience.

Great vacation of a german family

In this very nice and spacious apartment we spent a gorgeous time with our two adolescent children. Maryla was a very friendly and attentive host, so we felt like in our home. We appreciate the calm, cosy and clean apartment with separate bedrooms for us and the children. We slept well in the comfortable beds, enjoyed the fine living room, where we had breakfast with nice tableware. Close to the house there are a lot of shops, Delis, restaurants and bars. Greenpoint is a good contrast to the busy and exciting city life of Manhattan. From Brooklyn riverside there are different views on the skyline of Manhattan. There are different possibilities to reach the city, either you want to go uptown or downtown. The Greentpoint Ave Station (G train) is only a five min walk away from the apartment, you are two stops on the G train and one stop on the E train from Manhattan - 15 min to reach Midtown (5 Ave, MOMA, Rckefeller Center and Central Park), the L train is a 10 to15 min walk - only a single stop away from Manhattan. we loved our stay here in NY, thanks to Maryla for her hospitality. We can recommend the apartment to all, who like to discover NY in another, very interesting way.

Wonderfully peaceful in amongst the buzz

This apartment is just as beautiful as it looks in the photos and Maryla is a wonderful host - there if you need her but not pushy if you'd rather be private. It is a peaceful place to return to after the buzz of Brooklyn and Manhattan and the local area is great, really vibrant and safe too, with lots of shops, restaurants and bars nearby (we'd recommend Five Leaves). We were glad we stayed here as we wouldn't have had the chance to explore the area otherwise. The apartment is handily located near the G train but be aware that this line only serves Brooklyn so you'll need to either change lines to the L or walk to the nearest L station (Bedford Avenue) which is about a 15 minute walk. The only thing that was a tiny downside (and I'm trying really hard to think of something here) is that the apartment isn't completely private in that there is a shared front door and stairs up to the apartment but then no private door for the apartment itself. But the only other people using the front door are those in the flat on the ground (first for US readers) which is separate so it felt completely safe. Each room has a lock so your things are safe (it never worried us). We had a great time and will definitely be back. Thank you, Maryla!

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié ces 15 jours passés au cœur de Brooklyn. La maison est idéalement située dans le cartier Polonais de NY, très calme, et avec toutes les commodités à moins de 5 mn à pieds (Métro, commerces, laverie, parcs, salle de sports, piscine…etc.), elle permet d’accéder aussi bien au cœur de Manhattan, qu’aux plages de Coney Island en environ ½ heure de métro. Nous avons apprécié le charme de cette ancienne demeure qui est bien équipée et d’une excellente propreté. Seuls, la cohabitation avec d’autres locataires à l’étage inférieur (appartements séparés, mais entrée commune) et quelques détails liées à l’ancienneté de la maison nous ont légèrement surpris. Maryla et Jeff, merci pour votre hospitalité et votre gentillesse, même si nous n’avons pas pu passer plus de temps ensemble…

Perfect Place to Stay

We planned a "girl's get-away". Having stayed in Manhattan before, we decided to explore Brooklyn. The apartment was perfect. The two bedrooms and living room made it very comfortable for the three of us. The n-borhood is very Polish. Lots of Polish bakeries and restaurants within walking distance. Grocery store is very close so it was easy to buy breakfast items. Lots to see and do in Brooklyn. Visit Bedford St. (Williamsburg). It is about a 20 minute walk from the apt. You can get anywhere in Brooklyn using the metro. We had dinner @ Enoteca on Court St. (Carroll St. sub). Very good Italian food. Great area to walk around. We also took a walking tour of Brooklyn. If you fly into LGA you can take public transportation to get to the apt. Give yourself an hour and a half. Take the bus (Q33 or Q72) to the 7 line. Get off @ Long Island City, then get on G line to Greenpoint Ave. If you're going to be in NYC for 4 or more days, get the 5 day pass. It is well worth it.

Its a lovely, bright, beautifully furnished flat, the beds are very comfortable!. Brooklyn is much more interesting than I expected with fantastic views over Manhattan, especially at sunset. Maryla was very welcoming and helpful. I look forward to staying there again soon.

An Englishman and family in New York.

It was our first trip to the USA and we were so happy that we chose this property. We caught a Taxi from JFK. We were just not up to working out the subway on our first visit. I found the Taxi drivers knowledge of anything outside Manhattan itself was not like a London cabby. Not a problem, just an observation.The subway takes a bit of getting used to, but If we can work it out, anyone can. Maryla is a diamond and was very helpful.l She is there if you need her but she totally respects your privacy. The apartment is upstairs and the downstairs is also used by guests so the front door is shared.Maryla is in the basement flat. Very easy access to the shops and supermarket. There is also easy access to the subway. We had one worry about New York, and that was crime. We felt very safe where we stayed and the subway was safe to even at night.This was a great area to stay so stay with confidence. I was expecting to see all the subway trains covered in graffiti. They were very clean. You had the very occasional oddball but you will get that anywhere in the world. The apartment is very clean and those beds are so comfortable. The house inside feels very victorian/edwardian and is just like a typical home you will find in England. Don't forget your travel adaptor for the plug sockets. If you visit the Empire State Building try and book your tickets and opt for the Express tickets. You will by pass the huge queue's. The staff in their regal burgundy uniforms will look after you, but hold your express tickets up high so they can see you. Expect a few comments from other people in the long queue's like "Why are they going before us?" We found it quite funny. Try and pre-book The Statue of Liberty too. It saves alot of time. Expect double security checks on the Statue visit. Overall a great visit. I would recommend Maryla's apartment to anyone.

I cannot recommend this property highly enough. Excellent location and great information in the flat about the surrounding area. Hopefully will stay here again on my next visit to NYC.

We stayed over a week in NY in dec 09. It was our first stay in city and I must say Maryla made us feel most welcome and was very fine hostess all in all. Apartment it self was very convient for us 2 adults from Helsinki, Finland, Europe. Apartment was nicely located and it was very easy and quick to take a metro all over NY. We are looking forward visiting NY, Brooklyn and Maryla again!!

Very enjoyable 3 day stay in Maryla and Jeff's apartment. The two were hospitable, warm, and extremely helpful with their knowledge of Brooklyn. Greenpoint is a must to visit with many coffee shops, bars, and small boutiques...change of pace from manhattan. The apartment was extremely comfortable and clean in a safe environment. Thanks for everything and "à la prochaine"

We've just returned from a wonderful week at 2 Clifford Place. This was our first trip with a 6-month-old baby, so we were anxious for everything to go as planned. Maryla was incredibly helpful with every detail. Our flight landed very late, and when we finally arrived she had already cleared a space for our portable crib. She was always available for any needs. The apartment was immaculate (I'm quite particular about cleanliness, and it met my standards!) and we loved the location. On a rainy day the subway may be a bit far for some, but we had wonderful weather and enjoyed being outside with the baby and exploring Greenpoint / Williamsburg on foot. Thank you, Maryla!

My stay in Marylas house in Greenpoint was a pleasure. The house with the garden was nice, clean and quiet. And just around the corner there are fabulous places for coffee, food and the Subway that quickly takes you to Manhattan. I really fell in love with Greenpoint and Marylas place contributed this feeling. I am also grateful for the night when Maryla and Jeff introduced me to wonderful Brooklyn.

Spent a wonderful 10 days in the apartment in September 09. Perfectly located for the 'happening' scene of Greenpoint & Williamsburg, and 10 mins walk to the subway on Bedford where its one stop to Manhattan East Village. Maryla made us more than welcome & the apartment is great. Definitely recommended and I can't wait for my next visit!

Hi Maryla, hi Jeff, Our 9 days' stay started with a warm welcome by Maryla who explained us everything we needed and showed us the apartment. Maryla being polish and married to Jeff who is American, we felt directly at home, a little of Europe in America. We had a nice and quiet stay with the bedroom at the back. It is very safe and convenient to reach Manhattan with the subway. JFK airport is also easy to reach. Thank you very much for the nice Belgian beer in the garden. Can you imagine what does mean having a glass of white wine in a nice and secluded garden for welcome as soon as you arrive for the first time in N.Y.? Well, it's just the beginning.. The stay we had in this beautiful house in the historical district of Greenpoint, Brooklyn was really pleasant, due to the particular beauty of the area, the absolute comfort of the place, the kindness and simpathy of Maryla. This area is changing continuosly, a little park facing on the East river will be finished in a year, entrance at the very end of Greenpoint Ave, beside there's a nice little antique shop called "Le Grenier". My friends, my wife and I stayed 10 days in april. This apartment was great it was a very nice place in a very nice area (Williamburg / Greenpoint the new Manhattan), easy access to G line to Manhattan. We felt very safe walking home at night from the subway. Maryla and her husband are very welcoming and helpful. Merci beaucoup Maryla
