Enjoyed our stay at this Lawai Cottage. It is located on a quiet secluded road but still located close to Poipu, Koloa and the beaches. The house is very well stocked along with the washer/dryer. We enjoyed the fresh papaya Kim left for us. We really enjoyed our stay in Kauai and plan to come back soon!

Charming and cozy, this comfortable 1-bedroom Cottage is a real gem. Away from traffic and off the beaten track but close enough to get to Poipu/Brenneke, Shipwreck Beaches, major resorts, and Hanapepe in 15 minutes or less. Owners know what travelers need and supply snorkel gear, picnic cooler, umbrellas, boogie board, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and many kitchen staples, such as syrup, mayonnaise, mustard, seasonings, sugar, coffee, and tea. Surrounding papaya trees, banana trees, hau trees, and other tropical plants make you feel you are in a country setting--fun to pick your own papayas and bananas. You will enjoy the island melodies of the mockingbird, the island doves, and the kauai chickens as they serenade you. Old Koloa Town is 5 minutes away and has a market and several charming shops with some interesting history to explore.

We have stayed in many private vacation rentals and this cottage was the nicest of all. It was decorated nice with a tropical feel and very clean. It had all the extras you could need. Kim was always a phone call away and very accommodating. We hope to come back soon!

What a wonderful place to stay! The owners thought of EVERYTHING to make our stay just perfect. The location is great to visit all the island. The bed is super comfortable. No air conditioning is needed as it is very cool at night! There are condiments and plenty of other things there so we didn't have to buy very much to cook with during our stay. The avacados from their tree are wonderful! We loved having the washer and dryer in the cottage! If we ever come back to Kauai, we would love to stay here. Thanks so much for sharing your property with us!

My husband and I stayed for a week here and found that prior reviews all rang true. Great location, spotlessly clean and adequately sized for our needs. As noted by others, the place was well stocked with all the little things you need, and the provision of beach chairs, towels and travel cooler was unbelievably convenient! (We kept the chairs, towels, umbrella and mats in the vehicle the entire week and just re-packed the cooler each morning so we could stop where ever and when ever it suited us!) We especially enjoyed seeing all the frogs hopping around the property each night when we came in. I will note that the mattress is very soft - something to consider if you are accustomed to or need a firm bed to sleep in. This place is a fabulous deal if you are just looking for a place to land each night after a busy day on the island! Mahalo Kim! Erin & Shawn

We very much enjoyed our 4 night stay at this cottage. You will definitely need a car to reach it and the road to get there is a little bumpy. It is set at the end of a road in a local neighborhood and the backyard has a very tropical jungle feel with avocado, banana and papaya trees. The cottage was next door to the owner's house and we received a warm greeting but otherwise were left to ourselves, the owners were very respectful of our privacy. The cottage was clean, nicely decorated and had everything we could ever need including beach gear. The only downside was that there are bugs in the backyard (saw a couple of cockroaches, spiders and the mosquitos were pretty bad). There were a few little lizards inside, but it's Hawaii and they eat the bugs so those were not a problem and rather cute. If you are looking for a substitute for a oceanfront resort, this is not your place but if you are looking for a quiet place to feel like a local, a bit off the beaten path but still close enough to explore I would definitely recommend it.

We just returned from a 10 day stay at Luana Ohana and were very satisfied! It exceeded our expectations in many ways: decor, well-maintained modern amenities, very clean, nice shower, many extra comforts and conveniences, beautiful well-groomed tropical grounds, and more. The VRBO description and photos are accurate. It was well-sized for a couple but there is also a pull out couch/futon that could sleep 1-2 more. We were also very happy with the location. It is in a quiet residential area yet close enough to main roads that allowed us to go all over the island, with a bit of driving. We knew we wanted to spend time in the North, South, and West so picked this central spot. We also appreciated the welcome gift and fresh papayas during our stay. We hope to return! Many thanks to Kim and Debi for all the help and hospitality.

We just returned from our stay at Luana Ohana March 9th -23rd 2011 and were very impressed. We read reviews of others who have stayed there and all were positive, so our expectations were high. Everything was as advertised, in fact even better. My wife and I have visited the islands 17 previous times and have usually stayed in privately owned condos or similar and have never seen a unit stocked so well down to the smallest detail as Luana Ohana. From beach towles to all the beach items that you could ever need to everything in the kitchen and shower..and friendly hosts..this place has it all.Everything is as exactly as it shows in the photos..very up to date..neat ..clean and very private and relaxing. The owners are just up the hill if needed, but never bothersome to our privacy. There are neighbors in the area, but you would never know anyone was around because you cannot see them or hear them.Sitting outside in the private yard was also relaxing, weather grilling out, enjoying morning coffee or eating dinner outside, it was pure paradise listening to exotic birds and enjoying the surroundings. My wife and I will definitely be back for another stay and next time hope to stay longer than 2 weeks.

My wife and I I had a wonderful time here.everything was as represented in the photos. We had been to Kawai before, and this was her best experience so far. The owners were very helpful yet unobtrusive. We particularly liked having a snorkel gear boogie board beach umbrellas and beach chairs at our disposal.we are in our 60s and love to cook and have our privacy. This place fit that bill, completely

Kim and Deb really thought of everything we could need or want! The rental is private, and very very clean and newly furnished/ decorated. The little details they have thought of, really made our stay wonderful. We enjoyed the grill, the fresh papaya juice, the avocado tree, the lovely decor and the bed was very comfortable. The toads in our driveway in the rain were a riot! And the chameleons, geckos and tree frogs sang me to sleep. Best of all the house was 100% bug free:) thanks we'll be back Mahalo

Kim and Debi are the perfect hosts for a wonderful cottage and property. Every detail was thought of and provided and I could tell they have thought it out thouroughly and know how to provided guests with a wonderful stay. There is fresh avocados and papayas to pick and a quite neighborhood to stay in with the hosts living next door to quickly take care of any needs you might have. I am already planning my next years stay here because it is the best rental in the area for the best price. You need to book early because there are lots of return customers who are booking their next stay there :)

We stayed at the cottage for 9 nights for our honeymoon and it was perfect. We loved that it was on a residential street because it really made us feel more like locals than tourists. We also loved how private it was, perfect for a honeymoon! The cottage had everything we could possibly need and we used the snorkel gear and cooler and the beach everyday. Kim & Debbie were very sweet and informative. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Even before we arrived for a four-day stay, June 16-19, we experienced the warmth of our hosts – a bottle of champagne would be waiting to commemorate our 47th wedding anniversary. The accommodations were charming and Kim and Debi made sure we had everything we needed, including fresh papayas from their yard. They provided advice on the best time of day to see sights such as Waimea Canyon and which gardens to visit. We had a wonderful visit and would definitely return.

We stayed at Luana Ohana for six nights at the end of May. The cottage was very quaint and charming. It came equipped with all the amenities one could need including basic cooking condiments, extra towels and blankets, beach chairs, snorkel gear, etc. Kim and Debbie left a papaya on the porch for us one day - from one of the papaya trees on the property. It was the best papaya we've ever had! The cottage is in a great area - at the end of a private street, just 5 minutes to Koloa and Poipu. We look forward to another stay at Luana Ohana on our next trip to Kauai!

Aloha everyone! We have been coming to Kauai for the last 10 years and this year was the best! (1 Feb. thru 7 Mar. 2010) The accomodations provided by Kim and Debbie are very clean, just great! The many added things such as beach chairs, towels, boggie boards, etc. are not always provided at other places or some times there is a charge. Both Kim and Debbie were always available for help if needed, but not intrusive in any way. Luana Ohana soon felt like home. This is a place to return to year after year. You will not find better accomodations for the price any where and we have ten years experience on Kauai. Perfect for a couple and the house will work for four. Quiet neighborhood, friendly neighbors and complete privacy. The deck is very convenient for lunch with the grille nearby. Excellent, we reccomend it highly! Judy & Dave MacKenzie

My husband and I spent 7 nights at Luana Ohana and we were very comfortable and happy staying there. Kim and Debi were very welcoming and are very attentive to details. Debi oriented us to the cottage shortly after we arrived; both she and Kim made themselves available in case any problems arose. The cottage is nicely furnished and we really appreciated the guidebooks, beach towels and snorkeling gear that were available to use. This is a great location. It's on a cul-de-sace in a quiet neighborhood. It's feels very remote but it's quick drive to Poipu Beach and Waimea Canyon.

This cottage made our Kauai vacation perfect. It is simply and elegantly decorated with all the added perks of a house instead of a hotel. It is so comfortable (and has a great bathroom!) and private. The available beach gear and cooler were an added bonus. Eating breakfast on the lanai each morning made our trip relaxed and personal. Kim and Debi were the perfect hostesses. At the end of each day, we found ourselves saying "Lets go home" which was so different (better) from previous hotel vacations. Thanks again for everything Kim and Debi! Key and Perry.

Luana Ohana made our vacation perfect! It is in a wonderful location only a few minutes from the Poipu area beaches, but in a very quiet and private neighborhood. We loved having our own little home to come back to every day, and eating out in the garden was so peaceful. The house is very clean and comfortable. We really appreciated having the beach gear available, and the BBQ was great too. Kim and Debi are wonderful hosts, and we look forward to coming back soon. Mahalo! Amy, Bryan and Ty Arcata, CA

This place was lovely to stay in. The owners really go all out to supply you with everything you could want to have a wonderful stay. The house was equiped with a BBQ, beach towels, booggie-boards, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, 2 TVs, a full kitchen... Word got around the tinsy town that one of us had a cold, so the owner actually brought over a body scrub which helped with the stuffed nose! They really go over and above their duties. The lanai in the back adds a beautiful room to the house, where we had all of our meals. Paradise.
