Welcome to “Sea, Sand and Stars Cottage," where you will experience the overwhelming wonder of the ocean, PEI’s beautiful and clean soft red sand, perfect quietness, and amazing starry night skies.
The cottage is situated on a large grassy, pine and larch bordered lot, part of a 2.5 acre property. It overlooks the cape, our 500 ft. beach and the expansive ocean of the Northumberland Strait. The beach is accessed by a short walk through the wooded area at the side of the yard. Plan to relax or build sand castles.
Walk the beach for miles either to the Miminegash Harbor where fishing boats come and go carrying their seasonal catches which one can purchase, or walk the other direction from the property past iron laden water seeping from the cape, a view of the windmills and many more of the stunning, ever changing ocean waves and sunsets.
Miminegash harbor is a one mile walk along the beach.It is the little fishing village with 2 small convenience stores, a post office and a gas station. Continuing through the village takes you to the door of the famous “Seaweed Pie Restaurant” where mouth watering seaweed pie and coffee await you.
To be sure this is a most relaxing home in which to vacation.

Why the Owner Chose Miminegash
This cottage was the only property that was perfect for us. It has a wide, expansive, clean beach with shallow water for children to play, The beach has easy access through a short path that winds through some trees, shrubs and flowers and has only one easy step down to the beach. The house was very clean and well maintained, well furnished with only special additions needed to make it our own. There is a large verandah in which we installed windows so that we now can use it in all weather and at any time of the day. We were sold on this feature as a wonderful place to eat breakfast while watching the fishing boats and dinner watching the sunsets. The yard is large so our grandchildren (if they are not at the beach) can play safely.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
A great benefit of this cottage is the peacefulness that it provides. There are only a few cottages on the lane beyond us so we are very private and quiet. The darkness of no street lights allows the stars to shine at their brightest and fullest displays. I can not help but stand and look up and marvel at them. Our local neighbors, who live just over 1 K away are wonderful, helpful and have quickly became our friends. They are a constant source of information for us and help us with the needs of the cottage. We enjoy the short trips to the small towns for groceries and other needs where we never see a red/green light. One quickly becomes known as being from "Away" and friendly conversation is just natural for the people of PEI.

This is a most interesting little Studio where you can watch the owner create furniture and other unique articles for your home and yard. You will see our house sign, raven and blue jay that were made
You absolutely have to taste "Seaweed Pie". It is a light, creamy mouth watering dessert. Also enjoy the scallop burgers and other light entrees.
North Cape and lighthouse has a wonderful restaurant, delicious food, reasonable prices all with a perfect view of the ocean from all sides. There is a short hiking trial with descriptions of the area.
Here you will find a lighthouse that allows you to climb to the very top, reading history and seeing pictures of the past all the way up. From the top you have a panoramic view of the area.
This mill has been in operation for many years. Here you can walk through and ask questions of the workers about the entire process of wool from dirty sheep wool to beautiful finished yarn and knit it
Do you want the best lunch or Chowder. Here is where to find it. This is a very busy little place.

Welcome to our "Home Away from Home" Cottage on Prince Edward Island, Canada. In 2007 we visited the Maritime Provinces on a whim and absolutely fell in love with the ocean, the life style and the people. That led us to almost buy a property on the spot, but we decided to look around a little first. After looking at 75 properties in the Maritime Provinces we found this cottage and knew immediately that it was the place for us. Since purchasing it in August, 2008, we have been out (from Alberta) at least twice a year for extended periods and have rented it for a good portion of each summer. Our whole family spends some of their vacations at the cottage and all wanted to stay. They and friends describe it as being heavenly. We were very happy with our stay at the cottage. The kids loved the beach and the game system. My husband and I loved the sense of space, the privacy and the location. The house had everything we could ask for.

The property was excellent for a relaxing getaway. We really liked the house and being so close to the beach. In October, most tourist attractions are closed but we appreciated walking on the beach and short drives to explore the area. The offseason golf rates and easy access to tee times were a bonus. We would recommend this property to anyone that enjoys the ocean a beautiful house.

Our family of 6 stayed the first week of August. We saw seals just off the shore the first night and foxes several times through the week! So easy to relax and settle in with everything you can think of to help have a good time. Felt luxurious but also able to enjoy it as a family - the screened verandah was a hit for meal times - and with the chance to play music there while we ate! We spent several evenings playing soccer overlooking the ocean and having a fire. Friends from Ontario were driving through and stayed a couple nights without feeling like we had to squish in. The beds were great, the beachcombing provided hours of family fun and the water much warmer than some other places on the island that we tried! The weather was beautiful - some hot, calm days and some breezy days that gave a whole different feel to the ocean. The one day we had light rain gave us the opportunity to get away to the amazing Avonlea village. We really enjoyed seeing the fishermen getting their equipment ready - too bad we missed the launch of that. Such a treat to have a place like Sea, Sand and Stars to enjoy creation and make memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks for all you do to make it so enjoyable!

This cottage is a piece of Heaven! Everything you need and more for a vacation is in this house. This cottage has the perfect view of the ocean and the gift of sunsets. The house is immaculate and beautifully decorated, yet comfortable for any size family. We loved the short, gentle path to the beach instead of a steep staircase. The ocean water was surprisingly warm, the people on the island are amazingly friendly, and the slower pace will make you want to visit again and again. Sea, Stars, and Sands is the perfect vacation home!

For many years my family has wanted to visit PEI. Selecting a place for myself and 4 adult children was an important part of the process. The Sea, Sand, & Stars Cottage did not disappoint us in any aspect. We found the home to be very comfortable with everything to make our stay truly enjoyable. The kitchen has all the equipment you may need including several pantry items. Coffee, tea, sugar, flour & packaged food keeps you from having to run to the store for that one little thing you don't have. My family enjoyed playing horseshoes & croquet, making s'mores in the campfire, and daily walks along the beach. The sunsets each evening were incredible and a joy to experience. We were able to explore the island from one end to the other from this location while still feeling like we were a part of the community during our 2 week stay. I really enjoyed working with the owners through e-mail. They have a wonderful treasure in this vacation spot, that I am grateful they have decided to share with the rest of us. By opening this home, my family and I were able to make our dream vacation come true.

Our party of three persons rented this vacation home in mid-July. Spectacular sunsets, long sparsely populated beach (the beach is virtually at the end of the property) and very quiet. The home was spotless. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and produced a detailed information binder outlining the cottage amenities and suggesting local merchants, restaurants and activities. I have highly recommended this property to family members and friends.

We stayed at the Sun Sand and Stars cottage for five nights and will give the property a very good review. Amongst the outstanding features of the property were the following: -excellent sea views including lobster boats at work, sunsets, stars -large well-treed lot -easy beach access -absolute silence (one car went by in five days) -plenty of beach playing "toys" -kitchen is extremely well-equipped with good appliances, plenty of small appliances and sharp knives, new dishes etc. -the house is well laid out as per bedroom and bathroom arrangement. -the living area is open, user friendly and fresh feeling. -a bonus is the windowed and screened sunporch opening from the inside hallway and also opening out to the sea facing grass lawn -overall the house is extremely clean and well cared for.
