Al Parco - Living in Great Comfort, Style in Central Bologna

Al Parco – or how to be at the top in Bologna, the Italian capital of fashion, gourmet food and leisure. This beautiful, roomy, bright apartment is part of a brand new (February 2008) residential building situated in a spacious, well-served area facing a green and shady park, a small museum right on its side and plenty of little traditional stores in the vicinity.
With the city center, the railroad station and the Fiera District at walking distance, a newly-built shopping mall with an indoor swimming pool, a gym, bars, restaurants, stores and shops of all kind just around the corner, Al Parco qualifies as one of the most convenient rentals in Bologna. From here you can easily reach any spot in town: the bus stop is right by about 40 mts. and private parking is provided in the yard, which is completely fenced and 100% safe for the kids.
The apartment is a first floor (elevator) and overlooks the park with a very large (30 sq.mts.) terrace which makes a great spot for your al-fresco dining (garden furniture is provided). Very spacious (about 110 sq.mts.), safe (safety door, gates) and comfortable with high-quality fittings, Al Parco can accommodate up to 7-8 guests with two full bedrooms (one with two single beds, the other with three – all can be put together to form doubles), a sitting room with a double sofabed (a put-up bed can be added, if needed), two large bathrooms (one with a tub and a shower, the other with a shower), a large kitchen and a hallway.
All rooms give on the terrace and feature the beautiful view of the park. The kitchen is fully equipped with all possible cooking utensils. Linen, silverware, dishes etc. are provided.
Al Parco has been furnished at the top of love and zest with mostly antique, craft furniture and furnishing. Particular attention has been paid to the details, among which the many paintings, etchings and various pictures stand out for their beauty and taste.
Major appliances include a cooking range/oven, a microwave oven, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, an iron, a washing-machine, a hair dryer, a TV-DVD set and more. ADSL internet connection is available and included in the price. The apartment is air-conditioned.
With its very reasonable rates, we believe you can hardly find a better rental than Al Parco for your stay in Bologna. Inquire now! We look forward to having you over.

We stayed for 5 days in July 2009 and were totally impressed with this condo. The size of the rooms was very large and everything seemed recently renovated. The outside terrace ran the length of the condo, making it also very spacious. The condo was situated in what appears to be a recently built development. The landscaping also seems recent. Outdoor parking was gated, very secure. We used the condo as a springboard for day trips to Florence, Venice, etc., and of course Bologna. In Bologna, all interesting spots were a short bus ride away, very convenient. The owner, Paola, was very welcoming and helpful. She even provided complimentary bus tickets, bottle of wine/beer, fruit baskets....WOW! A North American style supermarket is a 5 min walk away. Overall our family was extremely satisfied and would definitely return next time we’re in Italy. Grazie Paola.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks, Vince. It weas a pleasure having you over and we all truly hope you come back soon!

This is a well located flat, in a quiet residential area, close to a park, a supermarket, restaurants and bus stops. We walked to the station (15mins) and caught trains to Ravenna and Ferrara for great day trips. We also walked into the town centre, about 30 mins, and the frequent buses (stop almost straight outside) take 5-10. The flat is very clean, well furnished, and extremely well equipped. No need to buy dishwasher tablets or oil or other useful items. The owner prepares the flat for her guests with care and attention to detail. For example, she gave us practical advice, booked a taxi for us and provided all we needed to make breakfast, with wine and an excellent dessert. For us the best part was relaxing and eating on the large terrace, enjoying the spring sunshine. This is a comfortable, high quality apartment, and we hope to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you very much, Ann. We are very pleased you had a great time, both relaxing on the terrace and sightseeing. You certainly took some walks, both to the station where the historic center starts and as far as Piazza Maggiore. We hope to see you again too!

A warm welcome from Paola was the prelude to warm and comfortable week in her spacious flat, well provided with every amenity, as accurately described on this website. There was a useful and well stocked supermarket and several places to eat nearby, with many more in the city centre. The flat was perfectly located both for easy access to the historic centre of Bologna (a short bus-ride) and to the Bologna Fiera complex (10 minutes walk) where my daughter was attending the Children's Book Fair. The free wifi internet connection at the flat made it easy for my daughter to communicate with colleagues, and for us all to check travel arrangements. The railway station is close for visits to a variety of locations throughout Emilia-Romagna or the Veneto. We visited Florence, a mere half-hour journey on the high speed train. The ancient buildings and beautiful art available to see in Bologna itself and wider afield, then coming back to our 'home from home' at Al Parco made for a memorable and enjoyable stay, made all the better by Paola's care and attention to detail (greeting new guests with wine and a tasty pannacotta). I would certainly recommend Paola's flat both for family holidays or business trips. Thanks for a great stay, Paola!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The listing description was very accurate about this attractive apartment. When we arrived, Paola was there to meet us, and give us a walk-through about how things worked. She also graciously provided us with a Bologna bus pass and a great Italian dessert! The bus stop was just outside the building and that bus takes you to the train station and the center of the city. It couldn't have been more convenient. We 2 couples spent 3 weeks in November and were blessed with sunny weather most days. We were able to make day trips via rail to Verona, Venice, Florence, Modena, Ferrara, Ravenna and Padua. And of course we spent many days exploring the beauties of Bologna! There were 2 large grocery stores within easy walking distance, so we were able to keep well stocked with food. Our favorite restaurant within walking distance was Trattoria Papa Re, at Piazza dell'Unita, 6. Paola was always helpful, even pre-ordering our taxi for the crack of dawn ride to the airport. The apartment was clean, well-maintained, nicely decorated, and well stocked with English- language books. What more can you ask for? I would heartily recommend this vacation rental!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I cannot express how happy we were with this rental. You always have that nagging feeling when you rent a private home...can it be as good as it seems? Well, in this case, YES, it is better than that. When you arrive the owner greets you and gives you a full tour, not leaving out any details about each of the rooms. She has everything you could need in the apartment and the place is clean and very comfortable. You will feel at home instantly. The dessert that she makes for you and leaves in the fridge is such a wonderful touch and was very tasty! I have no hesitation in recommending this rental. It is a quick 10-15 minute walk to the train station, and another 5 minutes to the start of the downtown arcades. A large western style grocery store across the street. Could not have been happier. Thank you!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

This must be the best property we have rented for vacation. It is even better than the internet description in that it has everything, including very good free wifi. The cleanliness and attention to detail is terrific. We were very comfortable both inside the apartment and on the large terrace. Everything has been thought of including many items (e.g. shampoo, dishwasher tablets etc) that one does not expect. The car parking and the apartment block are extremely secure and very convenient to shops, and regular buses serve the city centre and train station from just outside the apartment building. One supermarket is within walking distance and another is just a few minutes drive away. On our arrival, the owner couldn't have been more helpful and we came to regard her as a friend. The property is immaculate and we would certainly recommend to friends. We are already planning our next vacation in it. The restaurant across the street produces some lovely dishes and is also friendly. There were also some excellent notes on restaurants etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay and exploration of this area of Italy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+.

We are a family of 5 ( mother, father and 3 daughters ) who stayed in Al Parco for 2 weeks in July this year. What spacious, tastefully decorated accommodation! The owner was waiting for us when we arrived and was very welcoming. She was a great help at explaining both about the flat and Bologna itself. ( In fact we had a lovely meal out at one of the restaurants she recommended.) She had also left some delicious goodies, including an absolutely scrumptious home made panna cotta. The amenities in the flat were second to none - like a home from home, with microwave, washing machine, dishwasher etc. and the washing up tablets to go with them. No buying a big box for of anything for just 2 weeks! The owners had thought of absolutely everything from hair dryer, shampoo and soap, to table cloths and sun lounger. The flat has air conditioning in all the key rooms, plus a private terrace which was ideal for eating outside ( with a lovely view over the park ) and sunbathing. It was very refreshing to come in from the sunny exterior to the fresh interior with its comfortable furniture, television, dvd player and 2 spacious bathrooms. The Coop, which stocked everything we needed, was a few minutes walk away, and the train station, which we used often, a short walk towards the centre, much of which was under covered arcades. We visited many places including Verona, Pisa, Florence, Venice, Ferrara, the beach at Cervia twice and Little Italy theme park - again twice as the second day was free! All in all we found Al Parco to be an ideal apartment in an excellent situation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Although Paola and Ken were away when we visited, they made us feel at home by being available even on their holiday, and leaving wine and cake for us. Their daughters were good substitutes. This apartment has all the amenities, and we very much enjoyed our stay here. It is convenient to the train station for day trips to Venice, Florence, and Ravenna. It was perfect!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you very much, Matt. We are pleased our daughters held the fort when we were away! We are happy you enjoyed your stay and hope to meet you some other time!

We spent 10 days. The description and photos of the property were accurate. The apartment was clean, and very well maintained. The owners were very helpful and quick in answering questions. There was a home baked cake, wine and beer in the frig. The kitchen was well equipped and everything in the apartment was in excellent condition. The large balcony was a huge bonus. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station and less than 1/2 hour walk from the center of Bologna. There is a supermarket across the street, and several restaurants nearby. It is a great location for day trips out of the city. There are busses that go to the train station and the city center as well. We would recommend this property to a friend or relative.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you very much. We are always pleased when we can be of help and we were happy you enjoyed our suggestions about day trips and things to see. Indeed the apartment is about 10-15 minutes' walk to the train station and the center and about 20 minutes to Piazza Maggiore, the main square. I hope to see you again!

What a lovely apartment! Our family of four (two adults and two kids) just completed a 10day stay in this lovely Bologna apartment and loved it! Right from the beginning everything went very smoothly. Owner, Ms Paola, was very helpful and kind! She immediately responded to the emails, and answered all of our questions thoroughly and quickly. When we arrived, she was waiting for us and gave us the tour and the details of the stay at the apartment The apartment is truly beautiful and was so comfortable for our family. It was thoughtfully and beautifully decorated and very clean and well maintained. Beds were comfortable with down comforters and the outdoor terrace was just wonderful. The apartment is also very comfortable for long stay since it has a washing machine. We would really be delighted to return there for our next holiday! Wonderful find!Owner response: Thank you very much! We are very happy you and your family enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure having you over and hope to see you again sometime.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We are a married couple - a teacher of English and a physicist - with two daughters and living in the immediate outskirts of Bologna. We like meeting new people and keep in touch, that's why we began renting out our property.
Why the Owner Chose Bologna:
We found this a perfect location - the center is an easy walking distance and so are the station and the fairground. Right in front the mall with the fitness facility and the pool (plus a good pizzeria!) makes this corner of town a really enjoyable one. Plus, of course, the park, a great bonus in the Spring, Summer and Fall both if one has children or not. Finally, the place is colorful and safe, lively yet quiet, especially at night.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Comfort is number one - nice, good quality furniture (some antiques), large spaces, a great terrace. Convenience of the location follows - we are at a stone's throw from everything, you can walk or take the bus, all is there in a few minutes. No fixed changeover day, schedule your stay for any period you want. Last but not least - functionality. Everything in the house is brand new and thoroughly checked before each rental.
