Lake Norman is the largest lake in North Carolina, with over 520 miles of shoreline.
The warm water is perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and relaxing. The house is located on a quiet cove on the northeast side of the lake, easy to access from Interstate 77, about 40 miles north of Charlotte, just minutes from Lake Norman State Park.
Easy day trips can be made to Charlotte, Hickory, Lowe's Motor Speedway, Paramount's Carowinds Theme Park, the Biltmore Estate, and many other local attractions. There are also nearby restaurants, shopping, go-karts, and plenty of other activities, if you want to stay busy.
The house sits on a large .7 acre wooded lot and is a perfect getaway any time of year. The lake water is perfect for swimming from May thru September, with canoeing, kayaking, sailing, boating and fishing available all year.
The outdoor fire pit is a hit all year as well, while the 2 indoor stone fireplaces make everyone warm and toasty from fall through early spring. The hot tub is fun all year too.
Inside the house, the loft overlooks the great room, which has a soaring cathedral ceiling and a big stone fireplace. The master bedroom, with a private master bath, is also located on the 1st floor, along with a 2nd bedroom and another full bath. Completing the 1st floor are the dining room, screened porch/outdoor dining room, and complete kitchen with electric range and oven, refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster oven, mixer, and more.
The loft has 3 single beds, which are comfortable for kids or adults. Access is up a fairly steep stairway/ladder, so be careful. It's a great hang-out for kids, and a place for them to escape from their parents.
The lower level has 2 more bedrooms and a 3rd full bath. It also has a large family room with a wet bar and another big stone fireplace. There's a wrap-around couch in front of the fireplace and TV, and also a futon for additional seating or sleeping.
The deck that spans the 1st floor in back of the house has a steel cable rail, so it doesn't block views of the private dock and the lake. The hot tub, with wrap-around deck and steps, is nestled in overhanging dogwood trees overlooking the lake. A few steps away is the large fire pit, great for cooking hotdogs or marshmallows, or warming up on a cool fall day.
The deep water dock averages 11 feet of depth, and even had 8 feet of water under it during the 2007 drought, so we could take boats out while many others were aground. Rent a boat nearby, or bring your own - the community boat ramp is about 150 yards down the street.
The dock also has 4 canvas swinging chairs (with cup holders) mounted on springs and swivels. Sitting in one of those chairs, sipping your favorite beverage, a cool breeze in the air...there just isn't a better way to relax. But if you have to work during your escape, don't worry...THE SECURE WIRELESS NETWORK WORKS AT THE DOCK!

My husband and I rented this house with some friends that we don't get to see often. It was the perfect "meet in the middle" location and we really enjoyed our stay. The house was very neat and organized. Once we hit the grocery store for a few food essentials we were set for the rest of the trip. Most of our time was spent at the dock chatting and enjoying the sun. I didn't want the temperature to drop in the evenings because I didn't want to leave the hanging swing chairs...ever! It wasn't cool enough for a fire at night so we spent our evenings on the back deck overlooking the lake which was just as wonderful (bug spray a must). The steps were a bit much but all the houses were the same, not too much you can do about the steps in that particular cove. And it was just another excuse to stay in the swing chairs. Mike was WONDERFUL to deal with. We would love to return!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Beautiful home, we loved having the different levels to play, talk, and sleep. The only negative for our gathering was the yard, there was no outside play area for small children. Great for teens and adults. We totally enjoyed the fireplaces, it made our Christmas together special. The loft was an awesome place for our boys!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

A wonderful family vacation with many unforgettable memories at this great vacation house on lake norman. Enough room for 17 adults ages 24-80! This place is even better than the pictures! Great views from the deck! Loved the hot tub and firepit! We especially enjoyed the use of the 3 kayaks provided for our use by the owner, Mike. Had great weather (60's). Mike was very helpful from the time i first inquired about the home. I would definitely come back to this home! We got our exercise walking down the steps to the dock but it was worth it! Would like to rent it in the summer sometime so we can use the slide! Thanks again Mike! P.S. The 2 indoor fireplaces were great too!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This is a perfect getaway. The house is very clean and well kept. Plenty of beds for larger groups. The dock is great and if you have time get the hammock chairs out. You will love it. The Kayaks were fun. Unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy the fire pit. We would definitely rent this house again. Mike, the owner, is great to work with.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children.

If you are looking for a restful vacation in the Central portion of the Tarheel State, then this place is for you! We arrived the day after the summer season & the lake was still relatively warm, the kayaks worked GREAT & the Jacuzzi was perfect for those of us from Florida. I am from the area & spent a wonderful time during a reunion with both high school & college buddies. The house is very spacious with plenty of beds for everyone, lots of bedrooms with TVs in everyone. Don’t worry about cooking & eating utenzils, the place is fully stocked! Plenty of wood available for either of the two fireplaces &/or the outdoor fire pit! Spent one day in Blowing Rock….just an hour away. The place is well maintained & we all felt like we were at home. Will probably return in the future & have already recommended the home to other coworkers.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

When we pulled up to the property, it looked like a quaint little cottage, opened the door and the house just exploded into a wonderful get away location. Everything was great, beds, hot tub, fire pit, lake. We were amazed to be swimming in a lake in October! The steps to the lake were alittle much, but worth it. The dock is amazing, if you rent this property, be sure and take the hammock chairs to the dock, so worth it! Very clean, comfortable and pretty. Mike, the owner, is so nice to work with, responds to any emails/phone calls, offers suggestions, even sent us coupons!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

The best vacation for our families. The house is a youngsters paradise with kayaks, water slide, fishing, high dive next door. Lovely setting in the woods providing cooler than normal temps in the evening for sitting around the fire ring or back porch. Evening and morning fishing good for bass and catfish. Hybrides (small) plentiful along the shore line with #16 hooks for kids. House is in excellent condition and well kept considering the continuous summer rental. Plenty of child tapes to occupy the young ones during idle times. I would certainly recommend this property. One air conditioner went out and the owner had it fixed within 24 hours.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children.
