Suited to a family, a couple who need an optional office or studio or even a single person in need of a zen retreat. There is an open-plan living room, large kitchen, master bedroom with ensuite half-bathroom, a twin room and a loft-room. There is a full bathroom with bath and shower and finally a third living space that can be closed off with a sliding door for guest-room/office.

The house is lightfilled with large picture frame windows and skylights. It has clean-lines and architectural features throughout, open fireplace and bespoke kitchen... all to be featured in the Sunday Independent Magazine this month (February).
The house is impeccably quiet. All that Dublin has to offer is right on the doorstep and our management team can help you with anything you may need for your stay in Dublin City.
You can bike around, taxi around, bus, Luas or drive around with very secure on-street parking right outside the door. Highfield Grove is beside excellent shops - Dublin's top butcher and fish monger's (Lawlor's), a health food store with organic vegetables and specialty foods, Fothergills bakery, and Wild Lily Cafe with great coffee and croissants, not to mention the great restaurants five minutes from your door...
Palmerston Park with beautiful landscaped grounds is a minute's walk with its great wooded playground for children. River-walks, mountain trails, ocean-strolls and urban-life all in a 20-minute radius. This is a perfect Dublin retreat from which to embark on the Dublin adventure you would like to create.

Why the Owner Chose Dublin
I grew up in Rathgar. When choosing a place to have as my home when traveling back to see family and friends it was important to me to be near the Dublin I had always known. I have always liked to live in the centre of a city whether it was in London, Paris or New York and this house is 2 miles from the hub of Dublin in a beautiful leafy setting with lovely parks, restaurants and shops. The house itself attracted me because it was old with plenty of character and yet in need of complete refurbishment that would allow be run wild with my creativity. The setting of the house, one of twenty cottages around a village green set off from the main road, is completely unique to Dublin and I loved the tranquility and old-world feel of this environment. Every time I turn off from Highfield Road and down into that village green, my body relaxes. The calm is a much needed tonic for life in Manhattan.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
Very important to everywhere I go is to have a place nearby where I can buy fresh, healthy food, a place where I can have a cup of coffee and a croissant, and somewhere to have a lovely walk. Rathgar village and Upper Rathmines Road offer all that anyone could offer in terms of satisfying gourmet cravings and Palmerston Park, 2 minutes from the house, is beautifully landscaped with a wonderful children's playground in the shelter of its old oak trees. All public transport is available right outside the door as well as free parking. And there isn't a quieter spot in all of Dublin. Particularly appealing to me is watching the trajectory of the moon across the master bedroom picture frame window at night, hearing the birds in the morning, leaving the front door open on a sunny day and wandering in and out of the house to the village green with my friends or my cup of coffee, saying hello to the neighbors who have been their for generations, walking in my bare feet around the house with the floors warm from the sun coming in through the skylights, showering outside in those rare summer days, having feasts at the big kitchen table with family and friends and snuggling up in front of the fire with my loved ones.

Hi!
My name is Dolores. Originally from Dublin, Ireland, I now live in New York. I have lived in and travelled to many places around the Globe, from Tahiti to Egypt and in between and know what it is to have a nice port of entry and a nice bed to sleep in. I am a writer and film-maker and lover of life. Inherently in tune with the needs of a traveller, I take great pleasure in providing a beautiful place to stay in, in my native country, native city, and native village - Rathgar.

Stayed 3 weeks November 2011 for the Dublin Marathon. Have stayed in many places in and around Dublin and this was wonderful. Clean, bright, well maintained and fantastic location. Located in Rathgar a short (10 minutes) LUAS/Bus ride to the city centre and yet a quiet, lovely neighbourhood complete with fully stocked shops minutes walking and a friendly local as well. For car access.....the M50 and routes to Wicklow and south a short and easy drive. Delores and family are top notch owners and provide for a 5 star holiday. Look no further, you certainly will not be disappointed. Can't say enough good things.

We loved this house! The combination of the simple, brick row housing exterior in a really lovely historic area of Dublin, and the sleek modern sunny interior was wonderful. We are a family with children, and wanted a place that was central enough for easy touring, with shops nearby, but quiet and roomy enough for a family retreat. Rathgar appealed to us because it's very central for touring the city, but still peaceful, and we liked the look of this house. Dolores was very helpful as we made our plans, and everything exceeded our expectations! Rathgar is truly beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the lovely streets admiring the historic homes and their gardens, playing in the beautiful nearby park, and running our errands (messages, as the Irish call them) in the nearby village centre. Trips into downtown to sightsee were quick and easy by bus or Luas, and parking for our rental car was literally right at our front door. The house is sleek and full of light, with very smart design, has everything you need for housekeeping, and in addition to being very modern, manages to be very comfortable. Our children absolutely loved the loft bedroom with its little window into the main living space, and alternated nights sleeping up there. We even entertained a couple of times while we were there, and the house got rave reviews from our relatives and friends. We wish this was our Dublin house! Thank you Delores and Colm for a great holiday.

We started out as four single women starting a 3 week Irish vacation in Dublin but before we got to the airport two had to drop out due to a death in their family. The two remaining travelers, one experienced and the other a novice arrived at the Oasis before 7 am and thought we must be in the wrong place because there were no modern looking cottages around. But a call to Colm and his arrival 5 minutes later assured us that we were indeed in the right place and in good hands. With a normal three night minimum stay we had negotiated this early arrival in advance as our third night. As advertised we found it easy to get into Dublin on the bus, convenient to neighborhood stores and restaurants, and a quiet out-of-the-way location. This was a great place for the two of us but would have been rather tight for four middle-aged ladies with way too much luggage. But it is also fine for a family. Access to the loft bedroom is through the front bedroom and the master bedroom is up a steep narrow concrete flight of steps. The living room is also down two steps with no rail so anyone with mobility issues might have a problem here. But with this limitation I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a great hide-away in Dublin. The hospitality of the host was great even allowing us to leave our food in the fridge after our check-out time while we spent a last day in Dublin. I hope to return some day!

Our two 14 year old granddaughters, my husband and I had a wonderful week in Dublin. The Oasis felt so special that staying home, cooking, sitting in the garden all felt both comfortable, familiar and yet exotic. The neighborhood is so friendly, the village just walking distance has a lovely bookstore, eateries, and shops and the bus is easy to take back and forth to downtown Dublin. It was just what we hoped to give our grandchildren -- and understanding of a neighborhood, coupled with a city experience. Your home is so very special yet practical. Colm is himself a treasure and his suggestions all proved just exactly right for us. An all day bus tour to kiss the Blarney stone toped it off. But at the end of the day, it was staying at the Oasis that made it so special. Many thanks.

Hi Dolores, I was meaning to write to you after our stay and rant and rave about our stay in you fabulous place. We, myself and my 3 pre-teen children thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your flat and our time in Dublin. It was my children's first time to Ireland and I loved the experience of walking up to the bus stop, hoping on and being in Central Dublin in less than 10 minutes. Listening to the conversation and the Dublin brogue. Your flat accommodations were more that comfortable. We all experienced great sleeping accommodations, the shower was fantastic with the overhead faucet and having enough hot water was never a problem with 4 people taking showers daily. I cooked a hardy breakfast every morning that began our day before heading off to explore Dublin and often did not have to eat again until Dinner time. That was so very beneficial due to the high cost of eating out in Dublin. I did eventually rent a car and had no problem parking in front of your apartment, and without the added cost of what a downtown hotel would charge me for overnight parking, I might add. With our GPS navigation device we found our way around town without incident and that itself is miraculous for those of us that drive on the wrong side of the road. We found your apartment a warm and very comfortable place to return to after a long day out and about. We loved all the windows and the bright, modern and airy feel. We were completely surprised at the interior after arriving from the Airport and our long flight over from the Bay Area. From the outside one would not expect to see the interior so wonderfully remodeled with the open, light filled, comfortable layout. My children enjoyed the freedom of playing ball on the grass in the court yard and that is not possible when staying in a large hotel. I have and will continue to highly recommend your apartment to anyone traveling to Ireland in the future. All the Best! Mattie

I had friends visit from the USA, a couple with two strapping sons, ages 16 and 21. They were very comfortable and happy in the cottage. They layout gives everyone their own sleep-space, and they enjoyed making breakfast together in the kitchen before sightseeing. The lads especially enjoyed the sliding chalkboard wall! This is a great place in which to anchor any visit to Dublin!
