Loved the place! Great location, with easy access to the city and Garden District. The king bed was extremely comfortable! Parking was also a big plus and very private. Look forward to staying there, and only there, the next time I visit New Orleans. A great value and most charming!!!

FANTASTIC House, Updated, perfect location, decorated fabulously!

This was our family's first trip to New Orleans. We were traveling with our two children and my sister (five in all). We stayed 4 days in this house. It met or exceeded our expectations. The neighborhood and location were excellent--not too busy, but close too the action. We spent a good deal of our time in the French Quarter and Marigny, which were fairly convenient. Free Off-street parking at the house was a bonus, and we frequently left our rental car. We strolled to Magazine Street for breakfast (fun and funky "Slim Goodies," per the owner's recommendation, provided my favorite meal of the trip), or coffee at Mojo's; we browsed the shops along the avenue. We also appreciated the proximity to trolley service. The kitchen and dining area in our house were perfect. We loved our accommodations, which were charming and tidy. The owner was great to work with and very hospitable. They provided useful resources, both prior to (via e-mail) and during (via a notebook) our visit. His tips greatly enhanced our experience. During our stay, we had a minor problem accessing wi-fi, and he promptly responded and followed up to make sure it was resolved. He made us feel welcome. The laundry facilities came in handy. Although we shared a single bathroom, it was roomy and nicely appointed. We found New Orleans to be a superb city, very warm and welcoming and fun. We anxiously look forward to our next visit, and we would undoubtedly look first to this house.

Southern Charm, Hospitality and Grace

Date of Stay: 12/22/11 Review Submitted: 01/11/12

My family and I stayed in the upstairs unit with our 2 sons December 22-27th and we cannot say enough about how fantastic the property was! We have been in 6 or more properties in New Orleans and this one was by far the BEST. It has GREAT New Orleans charm with hard wood floors and Brick walls with 2 fireplaces. and the Balcony is perfect to sit and read a book and drink coffee. So i was surprised to read the review that stated it was dirty because it was spotless! 1. The location is perfect. we could catch the street car right outside and we could take a 2 minute ride to the zoo, french quarter, Imaxx and more! 2. Staff: they are so kind and helpful! They gave us so much information that helped us during our stay ! 3. Value: AMAZING! i don't want the owner to raise the rates but this place is under priced! CLEAN, PERFECT and I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Owner response:Thank you so much Caroline! We appreciate our guests and your honesty! :)

Great location, lots of charm, but lots of issues

Guest: Kate (United States)
Date of Stay: 12/27/11 Review Submitted: 12/31/11

We stayed in the upstairs units with our two daughters who slept on the sleeper sofa. We have stayed at lots of VRBO units and all of them have been much better experiences than this one. First of all, the good things about the unit: 1) The location was great. It has great proximity to the streetcar, the french quarter, and there are a lot of restaurants in walking distance. We really enjoyed Blue Plate Cafe and Slice nearby. 2) The owners, managers, and staff (yes - we ended up talking to many of them) are all very nice. They felt bad that our stay was not pleasant. (But - they did refuse to refund our money and let us stay elsewhere.) OK - the bad: 1) When we first arrived, the musty smell in the unit was overwhelming. We aired out the place, but even after three nights, it got better, but still smelled. The unit is old, and not well maintained. It has old carpet, furniture, etc. The cleaning is very surface, with mini blinds, fake plants, etc, covered in dust and grime. The windows to the balcony have a lot of mold. My husband and I felt quite bad every morning after breathing it all night. 2) There is little thought put into making your stay comfortable. There was no mattress pad on the king bed and when we arrived, there was no blanket for the sleeper sofa, among other things. The owners were very apologetic about this, but we still had to go out and buy a blanket for our girls that night. 3) If we had wanted to cook in the kitchen, we couldn't have. There is only a couple of pots, no pans. Most of it is fairly dirty, and I didn't want to cook there anyway. Again, the owners were very nice. But, I told Brad that I wanted a refund because of the condition of the unit. He said the owner refused, so I felt I must write the truth about the unit for others that are considering staying here.

Owner response:Dear future renters: I would just like to say that Kate was frustrated before her arrival as she called on on December 23rd at night asking what tolietries to bring yet I was not in the office until Monday the 26th. I did have a cell number listed. When I spoke Kate on Monday she was frustrated even more stating it was too late as she already left to travel. I apologized. She arrived at the house (4) hours in advance therefore the AC was not turned on by our cleaning company and it is a 200 year old beautiful home. I let her know she was early so with the humid New Orleans weather she will just need to turn on the AC. She refused, stating she wanted a refund. I asked her to please let the AC run and i would send someone out tomorrow morning. We had our cleaning crew arrive the next morning and there was no musty smell. She continued to complain and then stated there was no mattress pad. I thanked her for the suggestion and told her we would put on on. The mattress and all bedroom furniture was purchased in May 2011 brand. The dining room table is just 2 years old and the couch is 4 years old. The Charm of our Home on Historic St. Charles Avenue is that it is over 200 years old with 12 foot ceilings, brick walls and hardwood floors. The carpet is on the stairs which have a lot of travel on them but they are clean. I also spoke with Kate's husband whom did not ask for a refund and said everything was fine. We did bring them a dozen wonderful Pralines to enjoy. Please read all other reviews which are all rated a 5 out of 5. Thank you.

We loved your condo! The condo downstairs was beautifully decorated and very clean! We enjoyed our stay so much that we've already booked it for another time. From the moment I called to reserve the room till the day I left you've made my stay great! We loved the fact that the streetcar is right outside the front door and we even walked down to Emerils to eat since it's so close to the condo. Thanks again for making our stay enjoyable!
