This chalet offers the perfect cross between great cabin atmosphere and modern updates (including WiFi) to make everything easy. And it has location - easy access to Highway 4 on snowy days, and a level, few minute walk to Snowflake Lodge and all the Blue Lake Springs recreation amenities in summer.
If you are the cooking type, this kitchen will appeal to you: easy and efficient, decked in pine with new appliances and a view to the trees to keep you smiling. There are both gas and charcoal barbecues on the deck plus room to dine inside or out.
Three bedrooms and a loft can accommodate ten in a furry blink of the eye, there's even a small crib for baby bear. Two bedrooms have queen size beds, one has a king and the loft holds four twins with room for foosball and romping, or just watching TV (DVD & VCR, too) - great for kids and teens!
True bears can stoke up the wood stove, for lazy bears there is forced air gas heat at the flip of a switch. Enjoy the flat surrounding forest area for some hearty outdoor activities (there are swings, zip-line, tether ball and even a basketball hoop in your driveway), relax on the couch and settle in for electronic entertainment, or pull out the games and toys and have an old fashioned getaway. Cozy and casual, warm and inviting, plenty of mountain atmosphere.
Very family friendly and great for two families. Sleeps 10 in beds (all shapes and sizes) and pets are welcome.

Bear Valley Ski Resort is about a 30 minute drive up the mountain (both downhill and cross country) with beautiful Alpine Lake just a bit further. Fabulous hiking at Big Trees State Park is only 4 miles away. Also, enjoy the quaint town of Murphys with numerous wineries and check out the caves at Mercer or Moaning Caverns. Boating, rafting, golfing among the many activities available. The recreation center offers a swimming pool, sandy beach lake, tennis courts, basketball, ping pong, movies, and other activities all for just a small additional fee. Or... just relax on the deck surrounded by trees and the fresh mountain air!

Charming Cabin Great for Two Families and Pet Friendly!!

Why the Owner Chose Arnold
I live in the bay area immediately south of San Francisco in Brisbane, which surprisingly has a smaller population than Arnold! Without stops it is a three hour drive to the cabin and once past Stockton, it is a very pleasant and beautiful drive along Highway 4. I love the Arnold area because, besides being absolutely gorgeous, it is much less crowded than Tahoe and a shorter distance. Bear Valley has excellent downhill and cross country skiing and the recreation facilities are wonderful in the summer. One of the main reasons that we got this particular cabin is that it is so close to the Blue Lake Springs rec center that we can walk there.
The Blue Lake Springs Rec Center includes access to Snowflake Lodge and restaurant as well as the pool, lake, tennis courts, shuffleboard, sand volleyball, basketball, ping pong, kids activities, movies at dusk, and more. Sequoia Woods Country Club is a private golf course in the Blue Lake Springs subdivision. if you have reciprocal golfing privileges with your country club you may be able to use the 18 hole golf course for a $65 green fee. White Pines Lake is free and open to the public. Playground, picnic areas, sandy beach, fishing, dog-friendly.

We got this cabin in 1995 when our son was four yeas old and have had many wonderful experiences over the years. Many hours were spent at the swimming pool and lake which are just a few minutes walk from the cabin. Now that my son is grown, one of my favorite things to do is to relax on the deck with good book. However, I have also spent a lot of time upgrading the cabin over the years and have recently finished expanding the upstairs half bath into a full bath... it turned out even better than I anticipated! I hope that you check it out and enjoy it as much as we do!!

We are here again for our annual trip and we just love this cabin! It's so homey and very well stocked. The new additions are beautiful as well!! The zip line and tether ball are neat too. All in all this is just the perfect place to bring the family together and create many special memories! Thank you for everything!

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at this warm, cozy and beautiful cabin. This cabin comes with all the comforts of home and so much more. Our kids and their friends had the best time playing basketball, tetherball and loved the swings but the zipline was by far the biggest hit. It's obvious that the owners of this cabin take a lot of pride in it and want their guests to be comfortable and enjoy their stay. We especially enjoyed dinners on the spacious deck and it was so great to be able to take our little dogs with us on our vacation. I can't recommend this cabin enough and we can't wait to come back and stay next summer!! It was the nicest place we have stayed at in Arnold and by far the kids' favorite.

What a cozy cabin! We all enjoyed it completely! Our bed upstairs was so comfy. This was the first time on skis for our girls so it was quite a memorable trip. Your cabin, its foosball table, and everything about it will become a big part of this great memory for each of us! Our youngest wanted to take care of all the bears and had a hard time saying goodbye. Thank you for sharing your special place with others. We were so lucky to be here and have such a wonderful trip!

This cabin was absolutely perfect! Dog friendly, kid friendly, 15 minutes from wineries and the snow. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us - it is the nicest we have ever rented. We didn't want to leave!

The scenery is amazing and we love the clever bear theme. We enjoyed everything, but especially liked the homey atmosphere and the fun games available in the cabin. It was such a wonderful surprise to see that there was nothing missing that is usually missed when away from home. This truely was our home away from home (foosball and all!) From the moment we put our key in the door to the moment we shut it to leave, every second was memorable and very special to each of us.

The Bears' Lair is outstanding! Six friends and I rented the cabin for a long weekend, and we enjoyed every moment there. The cabin is pristine, welcoming, and cozy. After hours out in the snow, it was the perfect place to come 'home' to. The kitchen was our favorite part, being spacious and perfectly stocked for cooking our meals together. I have already recommended this cabin to other friends and family! I will certainly go back.

The Bear's Lair is perfection!! We arrived with my husband and myself, our daughter and her husband and our two grandkids to spend three days in Arnold skiing. The cabin's location is perfect and the quiet environment, yet convenient to local stores, works well. We were about 30 minutes away from our favorite hiking spot. When we entered we felt immediately at home. Clean, inviting, cozy. We started a fire, my husband cooked our first dinner there and surprisingly, all cooking items were well stocked. The living room heated up quickly in the efficient fireplace, the pine smelled so good, and we just hung out loving it. Upstairs which we referred to as the goldilocks room, is an A framed large room with our master bedroom right off of it. The kids loved it because there were many beds there, and so they and their parents could be all together. My husband and I slept in the Master just off the Goldilocks room so we were a part of the fun...not cut off from it. The bathroom was clean and everything worked well. Water pressure was excellent. There was nothing better than to awake in the Bear's Lair, take a hot shower and then have great coffee off the back deck all bundled up. This cabin is a win win for anyone wanting comfort, cleanliness, coziness and charm. We will tell all our friends about this lovely jewel in the woods and hope to return just after Christmas next year.
