Why the Owner Chose West Yellowstone

Several years ago, our oldest daughter worked in Yellowstone on a summer break while in college. She then convinced one of her three younger brothers (and an avid fisherman) to spend the next summer working in the park. While she went back to school, her brother never really left. He spent his summers fishing and his winters guiding snowmobile tours. Eventually, he built a home on a bluff overlooking Yellowstone country where he and his wife raise their daughters. When the home next door to his became available, we decided it would make a great family retreat. Although at the time it was just framed -- our talented sons were more than ready for the job. Our oldest son (a fine carpenter) visited from Michigan and spent his vacation building the staircase while his brother (the ultimate do-it-yourselfer) spent virtually every night after work either supervising or doing the finish work himself. The result was everything and more than we expected!

The Unique Benefits at this Home

Regardless of the season, Yellowstone country has a vibe that just allows you to relax and escape the stresses of every day life. There is plenty to do but the fact that activities are so centered on the outdoors slows the pace and gives you the time to reflect and breath. Even when the weather keeps you indoors -- having the time and a beautiful space to put a puzzle together, play a game of cards, or shoot pool is relaxing and yet also re-energizing. Of course, the best part is usually just sitting together around the kitchen island visiting with one another.

All of Yellowstone country is unique and amazing -- but from the property itself, you can't beat the views in every direction. In the summer you can see Lake Hebgen, surrounded by the majesty of mountain ranges in every direction while autumn in the mountains just can't be beat. Winters are just plain magical -- and you feel like you've been transported into another world. The springs are special because each day the bison herd migrates literally through the front yard. And regardless of the season, the nighttime skies are unbelievable. Far from the glare of city lights, it's a sight to behold and never fails to leaving you in awe of the universe. We invite you to share our deck and home sometime soon!

Owner's Map of West Yellowstone

After years of moving around the country (primarily Michigan and Utah) and living abroad (Panama), we have retired to southern Idaho. We love having a vacation home that will accommodate our four children and their spouses, our nine grandchildren (ages 1 - 21), and our great grandson. We love being able to share this space with other families and have filled it with everything we enjoy having when we are away from home -- including the memories of our own family vacations and those of our guests.

    • Wonderful! That is the perfect word to describe our stay at your home in West Yellowstone. This was our families first visit to Yellowstone and one we will never forget! The proximity to the park is amazing. We only had 2 days to enjoy the park, but we did it! It was so nice to come back to your wonderfully appointed home at the end of a long day spent in the park. You and your family have done a wonderful job making your guests feel at home and well taken care of. The house was well stocked with everything we could have needed. We will defiantly be back! Thanks so much for sharing your home and all it has to offer with us!

    • This great home away from home is a tribute to vrbo and the home owners. We had 12 people from three of our families and plenty of space for more. We spent 5 days visiting Yellowstone and this is the first visit that we saw a grizzly bear up close along the Madison River. The home has a very personal touch by someone very talented at adding the little things that make a house a home. It was stocked with all of the little things that we forgot and many other things that we did not use on this trip. The spice rack, pantry items and utensils went on and on. Our grandchildren did not want to leave the childrens upstairs TV nook stocked with all of the childrens videos and play things. The large open vaulted ceiling over the spacious two story living and kitchen area was very spacious, friendy, accomodating and roomy. The teenagers really enjoyed the lower level walk out recreation room playing pool and games and having their own TV area. We enjoyed having access to the internet as we needed it. The location is peacful and quiet and the owners next door were very helpful. We looked foreward to returning to this lovely home each day after visiting and seeing the sites of Yellowstone.

    • What a great house. Six of us stayed there for a week visiting Yellowstone. Room for lots more if you wanted. I have never stayed in a house rental that was so well stocked and organized. It had everything that you would need across all age groups. The kids had toys, coloring, games, videos and books to choose from. We had a lot of fun playing pool in the downstairs family room. The WiFi was helpful, but we were so entertained we didn't even turn on the satellite TV. The location is residential and quiet. A quick 10 minutes from the West Entrance to the park. The owners are very accessible by e-mail ahead of time and right next door when you're visiting. Friendly but also totally unobtrusive. I would never had contemplated visiting Yellowstone in the winter, but after such a great summer experience I would strongly consider going back to stay here. The owners were very helpful in lining up good itinerary suggestions outside the park that we enjoyed. If you're contemplating staying near Yellowstone, but not in the park, this place is totally worth it.

    • We stayed for a week and had a lovely time. The house has beautiful mountain/lake views that we looked forward to seeing each day. The house is very comfortable, spacious, and cozy. It is located among residential homes in a rural setting rather than among other rentals. We did appreciate the many items that we were able to borrow for the stay such as back packs, coolers, etc. We do not cook much on vacation, but I did love the warm kitchen which has a huge island, a large pantry, and is extraordinarily well-stocked and very well- organized. The owners were very nice, responsive and thoughtful. We loved staying there, and I would/will most certainly recommend this vacation home to my family and friends.

    • 10 on a scale of 10!! Our family spent time there as our base as we toured Yellowstone in May. it could not have been better. Close to the park but with ALL of the comforts of home and then some. Spectacular views from the house and deck. House was furnished with everything we possibly needed and more. Saved us a lot of time & money. Owners very accomodating and anxious to please their customers. We can not wait to go back and plan to stay here again. What a find!!

    • Lovely home, very spacious. We especially had a great time with the two children in this house as it was very kid friendly. Close to W.Yellostone and fabulous fishing. The pool table is an added bonus!
