  What a wonderful time we had in this sweet, cozy cottage in the quaint town of Black Mountain! A perfect place to gather with friends and family as we celebrated our son's first birthday. The house was perfect for a busy crawling baby (he loved all of the toys!) as well as for our four-legged friends. There was plenty of room for everyone and although there was plenty to do in the surrounding towns of Black Mountain and Asheville, our favorite thing was just hanging out in the comfortable, cozy living room in front of the fire place. Late-night ping-pong tournaments were also a big hit. We loved exploring the area...you can't beat the breweries, BBQ and bluegrass! Can't wait to come back.

  It is a rare treat to see my daughter, son-in-law, and especially my grandson from Oregon, so what better place to meet than in Black Mountain. My son and his wife joined us from Maryland along with their childhood friend from D.C. What a perfect house to reminisce and enjoy each other's company. There was nothing that we needed in the house. All was provided for us in an organized, neat, and user-friendly style. The playroom in the basement was perfect for children and we all loved the gas fireplace in the living room...such a cozy retreat, the perfect place to make memories. Judy, from Maryland

  My wife and I feel like Black Mountain regulars after spending a lovely week with many of our family at the Sweet Cottage. We heard local music in the neighborhood, strolled through the friendly Black Mountain town center, climbed to the dramatic 360 degree view atop Lookout Mountain, and just had a ball in Asheville! But the best part was sharing time with our family in the cottage. It was so warm and comfy, and there was plenty of space for all of us to do our own thing, or come together for some fun. Thanks to the Posts for providing such a nice home away from home!

  Coming from California to a family reunion in Black Mountain, I had thought it might be a charming but rustic "rough-it" place, but instead walked in to a gorgeous, comfortable house full of modern conveniences like wifi, streaming videos, a backyard grill, central heating and A/C, and full laundry facilities. There were wool tapestries and original watercolor paintings on the walls, and nice accent pieces everywhere. Throughout our stay, I marveled at how clean and well kept everything was, and how tasteful yet cozy the furnishings were in every room of the house. There were eight adults, but it didn't seem crowded. The kitchen was great - the owners had stocked the cupboards with everything from nice wine glasses to great cookware, the pantry with staples, and the frig with basics and condiments like mayo and mustard. Everything seemed thoughtfully planned to maximize their guests' enjoyment. Definitely the perfect place to kick back with friends and loved ones around the great fireplace and stay awhile. If it was this nice in the winter, I hope I get a chance to come back again later in the year when the trees in the surrounding woods are all leafed out - it would be even more spectacular. I give this rental an A-plus!

  We are still reminisicing over our 10 wonderful, fun-filled days in Black Mountain. The Sweet Cottage was our home away from home. It is nicely maintained, very clean and everthing we needed was at our fingertips. The house is in town so that each day we strolled into Black Mountain and in the evenings we walked around Lake Tomahawk and then enjoyed sitting on the back deck of the house surrounded by trees. Tennis courts are nearby with rackets provided by the owner. Hiking is available in Montreat, and paved biking trails are in the Pisgah National Forest to Point Lookout. The NC National Aboretum near Asheville is a "must see" and if you like ballroom dancing, check-out the Solace's restaurant lower level for a casual evening of dancing (cover fee only $5) Some great restaurants in both towns, including the Grove Park Inn - a must see! There are so many activities between Black Mountain and Asheville, that we will be back to continue where we left off. Highly recommend this vacation home and location.

  Our family met in Black Mountain for my daughter's wedding at Lake Tomahawk. Some of us stayed at this very cozy home which was perfect for us. We had a 3 year old with us who loved the toys downstairs. The owners were very helpful and easy to communicate with before our stay. The home is decorated with style and has a "homey" feel. Besides the wedding activities, we had time to: eat at My Father's Pizza and Ole' Guacamole in Black Mountain and 12 Bones and the Lucky Otter in Asheville, and have coffee at the Dripolator. We hiked up in Montreat and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We took the little ones to the local elementary school to play on the two playgrounds and discovered a nice little walking path behind the school with a little stream that we enjoyed tossing acorns in. We had a great long weekend and highly recommend this Sweet Cottage in the town of Black Mountain, NC!

  My husband and I had a very lovely stay at this home the first week of August. The house is extremely nice, meticulously maintained, and well-equipped with all the modern amenities. It was only the two of us, but I would think it would be a great place to stay for families with children. There is a lot of space, including a play area with an additional television on the bottom floor and a fenced-in yard. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings with our coffee, and also took walks with our dogs at nearby Lake Tomahawk. The house is also located within a close distance of the shops in Black Mountain, and nearby mountain hiking trails are a short drive. The homeowners were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay, and would definitely rent this home again the next time we are in the area.

You are correct about it being perfect for families. We have many families that use Black Mountain as "middle ground" to re-unite as they travel accross the country. We are proud to host so many multi generational family groups, and make every effort provide an envronment to satify all ages, and their dogs as well. I certainly hope we see you back real soon, we'll be watching for you!

  My family joined together to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Staying at the Post's home made the trip a real joy.The house was just as nice as it was pictured. My son and his wife came over from Durham and his brother and 2 children were to come also. Testing in the Florida school prevented them coming but we made the best of it. I know they would have enjoyed the games and movies that were there. The driveway was tricky so I left my car at my dad's house. The discount cards for the local store was a nice touch. I hope to stay here again. Ellen is a good hostess.

  Our friend, Dorothy, rented this wonderful cottage for an extended family vacation. We felt at home as soon as we walked into the living room from the rocking chair lined porch. The kitchen was amazing and since we have a very tiny kitchen, it was almost a dream come true! Lots of fun to cook in. All the rooms were beautifully decorated. We were so comfortable in the Master Bedroom and were surprised that you really couldn't hear anything with the door closed if someone was in the livingroom watching tv. Everything in the house was spotless and well maintained. During out stay we visited the shops and galleries in town, Old Fort, Asheville, Brevard, Montreat and Charlotte. We also drove part of the Parkway to Little Switzerland and Linville Falls (be sure and find Louise's for lunch) to see the turning leaves and natures wonder. Rocking on the front porch in the evening and sitting on the back deck listening to the Blue Jays in the morning. What a great week. Thank you for putting your lovely 'cottage' on Home Away. What a find. We also want to thank our friend, Dorothy for our home away from home. She's the best. Gene and Linda

  This place was great! We were there with our 2 boys and they loved playing ping pong and the game room. Also was large enough for everyone to have their space but still allowed us to be together for the vacation. We had 10 days with the boys and then 12 days alone while the boys were at camp. The house is very comfortable, clean, and well supplied. Cannot wait to be able to come back and sit on the front porch with my morning coffee. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for a place to stay...the owners were responsive and friendly.
