This cabin was beautiful, inside and out! Very true to pictures, very clean and excellent location. This was close to downtown Estes as well as close to Rocky Mountain National Park. This felt like a home away from home with a great kitchen, grill, washer and dryer and hot tub was awesome at night to look at the stars in a clear sky. Owners were easy to work with and very kind and accommodating.

What a fantastic cabin. Everything that has been said in the reviews is spot on. My daughter and I stayed at Lumpy Ridge for our annual mother daughter get away to Colorado and had a perfect stay. The cabin is light and airy with a spot to sit outside for anytime of day. Spectacular views and peaceful setting a true retreat. The owners are helpful and professional. So much to do from hiking to shopping and dinning. We cannot wait to return.

Lumpy Ridge Retreat is the perfect home-away-from-home! It is perfectly positioned in the rocks and has stunning views of the mountains. The amount of indoor and outdoor living space was perfect for a family of 5. It's biggest asset is its location--close to everything yet peaceful and private. We saw elk several times on the property. The owners were easy to work with. Their attention to detail is evident in their home, their furnishings, their "instructions" booklet, and in their communication. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin! We have stayed in 4 other VRBO properties ranging from Florida to Wisconsin and this experience was our best so far!

My wife and I stayed in the cabin for a week with our daughter and infant granddaughter. We have vacationed in Estes Park since childhood, and know the area well. Lumpy Ridge Retreat was the very rare example of a property that not only meets but exceeds its website depiction in every way. The location was ideal - quiet and private without being remote, and still literally a 5 minute scenic drive from the heart of town and ten minutes from the entrances to RMNP. The cabin was newly rebuilt, impeccably clean, roomy (for five or six), comfortable and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well-stocked, and even had a gas range for those (like us) who enjoy cooking. There are outdoor sitting areas (covered and open) with wonderful views. Wildlife abounds. The owners were thoughtful and attentive. We hope they will welcome us back.

My husband, mother and I stayed at this wonderful cabin in mid-Sept.2011. We have been visiting Estes Park for 30yrs and have stayed many places during that time, but we have finally found the place we hope to come back to for as long as we can. "Lumpy Ridge Retreat" is just beautiful. The cabin has been redone with every convenience in mind and the view the cabin affords is the best we've experienced. Couldn't be quieter and the natural rock formations that surround the cabin make it very private. I'm normally a "river" girl, but you've won me over with the stunning rock outcroppings and equally stunning views. The owners have made sure there are several outdoor areas on the property to just sit and take in the beauty of the surroundings, in addition to the wonderful views from inside the large cabin windows. Guess I'm giving away what should be "classified info" for our family as I know when visitors take my advice and stay at this lovely place......it will be harder for us to find an opening for our vacation next year. But, the owners have been too attentive to every need and have such a special place to stay......I can't help but want others to experience what we did in Sept. Therefore, in honor of the upcoming election year.......Texans for "Lumpy Ridge Retreat"! Thanks again for your hospitality, Janeen.

This beautiful cabin was the perfect place to spend our 40th wedding anniversary. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly want or need - every detail only added to our enjoyment of this property. It is perfectly situated with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains and close enough that you can be hiking within 30 min. The hot tub was very appreciated after a long day in Rocky Mountain National Park. We can't wait to return!

Lumpy Ridge Retreat (LRR) was perfect for family of six adults . We have absolutely no complaints. LRR is accurately represented in both pictures and description, except for the location which I believe is understated. The location is superb! Easy access to where ever you want to go, and the high traffic areas can be avoided when desired. Grocery store, Stanley Hotel, the RMNP are all easily accessed. The owners are delightful and made the rental process easy. Our deposit was promptly returned. We came to explore the Rockies and to relax. LRR provided the perfect base camp for our daily ventures and it was a welcoming retreat in the evenings. The young adults were pleased to find two major trailheads located literally a couple of minutes from the cabin. They enjoyed the private hot tub a couple of times and found it was thoughtfully set up providing lighting choices. We ate nearly all our meals prepared in the fully equipped kitchen and outside on the grill. We enjoyed the outside areas and decks at LRR. We saw the friendly resident bunnies and the pica or little chipmunks. We saw many unique and beautiful birds. One morning, my daughter pointed out a ruby throated humming bird just outside the cabin window. I visited Mrs. Walsh’s Garden, a public wildflower garden in Estes Park, and I believe that all species in the public garden were represented on the grounds at LRR and were beginning to bloom. The roses along the front steps were opening their buds. Gorgeous! I would like to add that for those who care to recycle there is a city recycling center west of downtown at 680 Elm Rd just off Moraine Ave. (Hwy 36) on the way to the RMNP. Elm Rd. is on the north side (right) of Moraine Ave. across from Trout Haven Ranch and Smokin’ Daves BBQ. We recycled all the items that we normally recycle when at home, and we were in and out very quickly. Decor is excellent with attention to detail in every room and outside the cabin, too. It is a quiet and very peaceful location. After exploring the region, we decided that the views from LRR are among the very best in the area. The cabin is very comfortable and the space was ample for our party of six adults. LRR may be used year-round and I would be confident that our needs would be met when visiting any season. We all agreed when we return to visit the RMNP, we will look no further for accommodations than Lumpy Ridge Retreat where we had one of our very best family vacations!

The cabin exceeded our expectations. The views were fabulous. It was very clean and well-maintained. We cooked frequently at the cabin and enjoyed the outdoor grill, the nice kitchen, and good selection of basic ingredients. The location was great - so close to the Lumpy Ridge trailhead and convenient to town. We saw tons of bunnies and chipmunks at the cabin, a couple of deer at the end of the road, and elk around the corner. Our 2 1/2 and 5 year-old girls enjoyed climbing on the rocks around the cabin, sitting under the gazebo, swinging on the log swing, bathing in the big tub, and eating outside. The cabin was so well equipped. We played games, watched movies and used the wi-fi. It was a perfect place to stay with young kids. They even had a few books and toys there. We were already talking about coming back before our vacation was over. It was our first trip to Estes Park, so I don't know how the cabin compares to other accomodations. But we would definitely stay there again. I can't think of anything I didn't like about the place. The McGinns were helpful and very accessible when we had questions. I recommend going the Lumpy Ridge trailhead - it's so close and it's not a hard hike (our 2 1/2 year old hiked a good bit of the trail to Gem Lake). Definitely drive along Trail Ridge Road. Our kids tired out before we could make the whole thing, but they enjoyed the views and liked having hot chocolate at the Trail Ridge Store (Alpine Visitor Center). The hike to Alberta Falls was a good one to do with young kids (our 2 1/2 year-old walked one way herself). We enjoyed taking the aerial tramway up to Prospect Mt. and feedng the chipmunks. Our kids loved the big slide in town - our 5 year-old would have spent every day there if we had let her. Walk around town in Estes Park (go along the street and the river side). Poppy's has some decent pizza and a nice outdoor patio. If you want some really good BBQ, go to Smokin' Daves. I'm a BBQ-loving Texan, and let me tell you, it was good stuff...generous portions, tender meat, and a good beer selection. The waitress even brought me and my father-in-law two generous beer samples each to help us in our selection.

The online description is accurate. The views and as good as advertised. Everything is very clean and well-maintained. The cabin is tastefully decorated in earth tones with a cabin/nature theme. The furniture is clean and comfortable. The kitchen appliances are all modern, full-size and very clean. Everything you could possible need is provided. The cabin is far enough from town to be very quiet. There are lots of elk in the area. The owners are very responsive and a pleasure to work with. The rental agreement is straight-forward. The security deposit was returned promptly. No surprises. The cabin was our home base for day hikes in RMNP. Our favorite hikes included: The Loch, Dream and Emerald Lakes, Mills Lake and the Ute Trail. Don't miss Gem lake up on Lumpy Ridge behind the cabin. The hiker shuttle to the Bear Lake and Glacier Gorge trail heads is very convenient. After a long day of hiking, we enjoyed soaking in the outdoor hot tub while supper cooked on the gas grill. Sunset and moonrise on the bench swing were very relaxing. Expect to see lots of bunnies in the yard. We enjoyed a very pleasant, relaxing vacation at this wonderful property.

My wife and I are avid hikers but since we have little Nate (2) our time actually doing real hikes has decreased. So when we came back to Estes Park this year we were ready for some relaxing times, shorter hikes and more low key moments. Wow, not hard to do in this house! As soon as we drove up our mouths dropped and we were blown away to find out that the McGinn's backyard was basically a serious of boulders and rock formations. As soon as we got in the house and unpacked we went to the side deck where we were stunned, views of the RMNP peaks loomed and then we noticed the other thing, nothing, no noise, no cars, no buses, trains, no city noise, just quiet. We spent as many hours on the decks (yes several) as we did on the trail. This was one vacation that I felt rested after it was done. The house had several great rooms, the master bedroom is amazing as well as the great bathroom. The kitchen is perfect and the breakfast area out back with grill? Well, it was nestled inbetween boulders....wow again. This place was great, worth the trip, worth the $. The McGinn's met us there when we got there and were wonderful people. If you stay all I ask is that you TAKE CARE OF THIS AMAZING HOUSE, it was the prefect combination between "cabin" and "nice house"....if we can get in next year we will be returning to this place!

We had an excellent time. This place was everything we had hoped for. The views were spectacular! The cabin was furnished with everything you need for the perfect vacation. The rooms were comfortable with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. We even saw our share of wildlife right in the front yard!!! Thank you for a nice place to stay. Our BEST stay in Estes Park yet!

Beautiful mountain decor cabin with everything that you would need to enjoy a vacation week in Estes. Listing was accurate and photos accurately reflect the cabin. Property was super clean and very well maintained. Would definately recommend to anybody looking for that special mountain-feel place. Excellent location close to town on a hard surface road. Owners are great to work with. We have rented through Vrbo for many years and this one was one of the best.
