Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2005

We are the second owners of this beautiful mountain home and we've had it now for fiveyears. We love living in metro Denver but also appreciate having a place in the mountains to getaway with our kids. We have had wonderful times here with friends and have started renting it out recently. We have had many return guests.

Why the Owner Chose Alma

We lived in the foothills of Denver for 8 years before buying this property. We finally had kids and wanted to be close to everything in Denver, but also loved wanted to enjoy the mountains. Alma is a cute little town and the locals are wonderfully friendly. We love being so close to Breckenridge and the magnificant 14,000 foot mountains. There's skiing, sledding, snowshoeing as well as lots of summer activities like hiking, biking, fishing, boating (on Lake Dillon) and canoeing. Its also a convenient distance from Denver - about a 2 hour drive so it appeals to local and out of town visitors alike - and you can avoid the I-70 traffic by taking US285.

The Unique Benefits of this House

The ride to the house is glorious - what a treat to drive over Kenosha pass to the house on US285 and hit South Park. The views are to die for. Once you arrive at the house its like getting away from it all but with all the convenience of home. Its great to hang out on the decks and read, make s'mores with the kids at night and watch the stars. The South Platte river and reservoir make it fun to fish with the kids. Alma is a groovy little town with some good coffee shops and restaurants and there's a few great parks for the kids (including 2 skateboard parks). Breckenridge always has something going on during the weekends all year long.

We loved staying at this house. It is incredibly comfortable and a great place to get away from it all! We spent several lovely nights cooking and relaxing in front of the fire. And it is a great distance to the slopes. We highly recommend this house.
