Everyone falls in love with this house when they see it. It was built in 1969 by an artist, and is full of floor to ceiling windows that stream with natural light. The house is built as a square, with the fourth side of the square being a huge and beautiful turquoise swimming pool. The property is surrounded by mature woods, and a stream runs across it down to the Ashokan Reservoir.
When you sleep at night, the only sound you hear is the water running over the rocks. It is utterly serene. Furnishings are simple, Asian-inspired and natural. There is a spectacular master bedroom suite with private bathroom and jacuzzi. A second double bedroom has a bay window out on to the woods. A third bedroom has twin beds that can be combined into one king-sized bed.
There is also a sleeper sofa, a hidden secret balcony room for kids and an air bed. And for the truly decadent is a granite double shower in the second bathroom. Dishwasher, laundry, heated pool. This is a place to have a lot of fun.
This house has something for everyone. If you wish to relax by the pool and sunbathe. the summers are hot, long and stunning. Alternatively, you can walk off the deck and access a hiking trail direct from the property. It is completely secluded, yet only 2 hours from New York City. The town of Woodstock, with shopping, cafes and restaurants is 4 miles away.
Music, theater and live events happen all summer long. Skiing in the winter is 20 minutes away at Hunter and Belleayre mountain. We welcome families, we have children of our own. Please contact Natalie Clark Barratt if you would like to discuss details or see more photos.
Ski Details: House is situated a half hour drive from two major ski resorts, Belleayre Mountain and Hunter Mountain. Both offer beautiful skiing for all ages and skill levels. If you would like to rent the house for alternate weekends over the ski season, please contact the owner to make special arrangements for long term rentals with storage space. Lower rates will apply than taking the house for the entire month.
