This is our family. We love our Lake Ann Cottage and Esch Beach in Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore 20 minutes from our Cottage. We always have a picnic there and grill brats over an open fire, then watch the sun set over Lake Michigan.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Ann
This Lake Ann Cottage is not a rental Property, rather it is a Family Cottage that we choose to rent out a few weeks a year to help pay the taxes and Insurance!

Listening to the Loons

We have stayed at this cottage a few times over the last several years. It is wonderful for big families with great living spaces for everyone together or individually. My favorite thing is that it sits on a part of the lake that overlooks state forest. The birds and wildlife are incredible. I love waking up to the sound of the loons. The pontoon is a definite plus, and the lake is gentle and warm for small children. It is one of the warmest lakes that I have ever been in, in Northern MI. There were Kayaks and a fishing boat and a nice dock to sun on. It is also in great proximity to shopping and golf. Beautiful hiking across the street at Ransom Lake and nice for cycling as well. We always choose to use it for our big family reunions when it is available.

We have stayed at this property several times during all four Michigan seasons. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone with a singular family, an extended family, or to many adults looking for a great time. The house is in excellent condition and has always been very clean and provides everything needed to make it an easy, relaxed and enjoyable vacation. Not only does the house have a great layout to enjoy one another, the large yard provides an area for many fun activities. We have also taken pleasure in all the amenities that this place has to offer. Our favorites are waking up in the morning and enjoying the hot tub with the mist hanging over the lake, the wildlife, the kayaking into a small neighboring lake, hiking in the state forests, enjoying a great round of golf at Mistwood and of course enjoying a glass of wine on a nightly pontoon ride on Lake Ann. Our day trips usually end up with us touring the wineries of Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas. We will continue to recommend this property to our friends not only because of it’s proximity to Interlochen, Traverse City and Lake Michigan but also it’s charming characteristics.

We had a great time at this house this summer, the location is perfect & the view of the lake is wonderful! There was lots of room for the 12 of us! The yard was huge with lots of shade - so it was great for lawn games. All the boats & kayaks were great to have access to because it was a really beautiful area to kayak through - lots of little channels to check out. The pontoon boat was a great asset to have too. The area is so quiet & beautiful - very relaxing! The hot tub was really nice too & it has a great deck out back with lots of room for seating. However, it would have been very helpful to have the washer & dryer available to use. It was very frustrating not having access to one since this is a very common amenity when staying for a week. The house could also stand for some serious organizing & cleaning since there was lots of the owners stuff in the way & not much place for us to unpack our items for the week. About half of the lightbulbs were either burned out or completely missing & there were spiderwebs in every corner of the house. And there was nothing in the house to clean with - such as a mop for the kitchen floor or anything. We also were under the assumption that the 4th bedroom was an actual bedroom, but it is definitely only a loft with a couple bunk beds that you have to walk through to get to the main bedroom upstairs. We did not like that fact since we specifically wanted 4 bedrooms for our 4 couples. Overall our stay was nice. Would most likely recommend to someone else.
Owner response:Glad you had a great time . . .but so sorry to hear about your difficulty with the light bulbs and spider webs? I did check the bulb situation and found three out of 27 that needed changing. the lamps in the living room work on the wall switch and when a lamp is turned off. . you know the drill. Sorry for not explaining. As to the cobwebs. . .I do agree they were more than usual. you caught the place on the end of four week rental period and our cleaning crew didn't do enough to conquer the little pesty multilegged workaholics. My wife and sister were mortified to read that our family cottage was dirty. Your comments were a wakeup call to us Thank You. . .please remember the great family time you had there and not the dust.
