  We arrived at the Bird House the second week in August and stayed for 9 days. Having grown up on Long Island and summering on Fire Island as a young child, it was a vacation that we had hoped would become a tradition for our family and young children. The bird house was in a perfect location - a stone's throw from the ocean as well as the bay. We spend most days at the ocean and our evenings bayside as we enjoyed watching the breathtaking sunsets. Davis does have a small surf shop where we rented a paddle board for several days - our boys ages 5 and 6 had a ball! The children are so safe at Davis and everyone who rents is extremely friendly. The house was impeccable and everything you need is there. So remember when packing - PACK VERY LITTLE :) The laundry area is perfect and outdoor shower was key with the little ones. We never even used the indoor shower! We were very sad to see our vacation end but we so look forward to continuing our Fire Island Tradition at Davis and plan to rent the bird house again next summer. Thanks Elisa for making our summer one that we will never forget!

  This was our 6th summer at the Birdhouse! That speakes for itself. The owner is personally involved and makes sure the house is immaculate and everything is in working order. The cottage has its own whimsical character that, from our experience, is unique. The house is well equipped with all the appliances and utensils needed to prepare meals. Everything is organized and easy to find. The house is well located within steps of the bay and the ocean. It is far enough away form the ferry dock to enjoy a quiet location, yet close enough so moving in and out is less of a chore. The owner takes much pride in her home and it shows in every way!

  Our stay at the Birdhouse was great! The house was bright, airy, and very clean. Our group of 6 had plenty of space throughout the house, and the three bedrooms were comfortable. The deck was perfect and offered a blend of sun and shade. The house was well equipped with cooking and dining supplies, fun things to do inside the house, and beach stuff. We loved setting our things out by the beach in the morning and going back and forth between the house and the beach throughout the day. Davis Park has a nice little village and is adjacent to National Seashore land. You can walk for miles and miles to the east and not see anyone once you pass Watch Hill. We loved those morning walks. The owner, Elissa, was a pleasure to work with. She is friendly and professional and did a great job readying us for our vacation.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

  Davis park is a relaxed Fire Island Community. Best place to go to escape the summer heat. The Bird House is a bright, clean, cheerful house only a minute walk to the beach. The ferry dock, general store and Casino restaurant (very good food with great ocean view) are less than a 10 minute stroll. The Bird House has three comfortable bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen including a new electric range, plus a fine Weber gas BBQ on the large deck. There are good beach chairs and an umbrella in the shed which also includes a washer and dryer. Both are new and high quality. The living room has satellite TV and a DVD player. After a day at the never crowded beach, one can wash off sand and sunscreen in the outdoor shower. Highly recommended.

  Listing description and pictures are accurate -- this house is tastefully/artfully decorated and well-designed in a way that makes it easy to keep clean and to live comfortably at the beach (e.g., outdoor shower leads to clothesline and bathroom -- perfect for privacy and getting a towel, deck is roomy and easy to use for relaxing and dining). Kitchen is well-inventoried and clean. Ammenities are just right -- not cluttered but everything a family needs (well-maintained set of beach equipment -- chairs, toys, a clam rake for the bay). Owner was very helpful about ferry schedules and grocery planning and events/activities on the island. Definitely, I would recommend the Birdhouse to a friend -- it's a great place to enjoy a lovely island and community.

  We stayed at the Birdhouse in mid June 2012 and the weather was fantastic. We were able to watch the beach change from north easterly winds to south westerly winds in one week. The cottage was clean and perfect for a small family with a guest or two. The ocean was refreshing and the beach isolated from the normal traffic in most beaches along the East coast. We saw Deer, Fox, Starfish and Strolled by hundreds of shells along the beach. Outdoor showers and good old Weber BBQ was entertainment for the night. Our 4 year old had the time of her life and felt right at home with her room and all the kids toys strategically placed throughout the cottage. The cottage was well equipped and taken care of. Fire Island is a great location to get away from it all. Our food deliveries were easy with no hassles. The sunsets were special every night. I highly recommend the BIRDHOUSE if you just want to leave it all behind. Elissa is fair and upfront about her property and was helpful and caring about our stay. Thank you! We hope to return next summer for more peace and relaxation even with our growing family.

  We just got back from a fantastic week in Fire Island at a great house which had more than enough room for our family of 4 (house sleeps 6). It had a modern, decent kitchen, lots of indoor and outdoor dining space, laundry, outdoor shower, and all the amenities we needed for the week. The owner could not be any nicer or more helpful in getting us set up for the week - and she even got us an internet connection set up which was so nice of her to do. Everything was very clean and all was exactly as advertised. We will definitely consider renting here again!

  This is the third year my family stayed at the Birdhouse in Davis Park and we had another amazing vacation. The house is cozy, comfy and CLEAN!!!! It's also steps from the beach and bay. The owner is attentive, organized and a pleasure to deal with. I would definitely recommend staying at the Birdhouse if you are looking for a relaxing vacation.

  House is clean and well-appointed -- had everything we needed -- just right inventory of ammenities. Also, very practical lay out for beach living -- outdoor shower, doors, deck are all well-placed. Owner manages the property meticulously -- every little detail (e.g., wobbly bench -- no problem -- replaced instantly). Also, owner was very helpful about ferry schedule, how to plan groceries, events on the island. Definitely would recommend this house and this beach. We love Davis Park and this house.

  We loved our stay at this Davis Park beach house - it is just as charming and clean (VERY clean) as the other reviews have mentioned. The house looks exactly as in the photos. From our first correspondence with the owner through our departure, it was a wonderful beach experience. The house is bright and has a lot of light, and the location near the ocean cant be beat -- its far enough away from the noisy marina area but not too far to pick up the NYTimes every day at the local store. The house has very comfortable beds, and the kitchen is supplied with everything any family could need. All of the appliances are new - nothing rusty or crusty about this house. The owner is very hands on and provided maps of the community, a calendar of events while we were there, and instructions about how everything worked. The kids loved the sand toys and child-sized chairs and the games and puzzles in the house (we all played Twister). All of the adult beach chairs included were clean and in working order, and my husband successfully used the clam rake to find clams in the bay a few houses away. We cant wait to return to this lovely vacation house.
