THE HISTORIC PALISADES SKI CABIN LOCATION:
Our Tahoe Vacation Rental is located in walking distance to the Squaw Valley Ski Lifts, the Squaw Valley Village and various hiking and biking trails in the valley. Our sunny Tahoe Vacation Rental has beautiful mountain and valley views and is nestled within a quiet residential neighborhood. The historic Palisades Ski Cabin was one of the first vacation homes built by Wayne Poulsen, the visionary, who recognized Squaw Valley's potential as a Ski Resort in the early 1930's and who was the original founder of the Squaw Valley Ski Resort. The Palisades Ski Cabin was built in 1952 and was completely remodeled in 2008.
The recent renovation reserved the character of the 1952 cabin while creating a sustainable luxury vacation rental. Complying with LEED building principles, the original building was restored to prevent unnecessary material waste and destruction of the environment. Today, the Palisades Ski Cabin is restored beyond its original beauty, with energy efficient floor heating, luxurious bathrooms and sun flooded living areas.
Master Bedroom Suite:
Our mountain cabin features a spacious and stylish master bedroom suite. The master bedroom has vaulted ceilings, big sun exposed windows and French doors leading to a secluded garden patio. A comfortable king size four poster bed assures restful sleep and relaxation after a full day in the outdoors. Our elegant master bathroom has an over-sized whirlpool soaking tub, a beautiful spa shower and a European style bidet.
Mountain View Bedroom:
The cozy mountain-view bedroom has a queen size bed, vaulted ceilings and French doors leading to a private and sunny deck with mountain and valley views.
The Sleeping Loft:
The sleeping loft has two alcove twin beds in true cabin style. Over-sized French doors open to a European style balcony with full views of the Squaw Valley Mountains and the Mountain-Run ski slope.
Living Spaces:
The gourmet kitchen has granite counter tops and state of the art cooking utensils. French doors open to a beautiful outside deck and the garden. The dining room features an authentic Tahoe dining table and mountain style chandeliers for gourmet dining and family bonding. The sun flooded living room invites our guests to linger at any time of the day. Open and spacious, it is the perfect place to relax and socialize. A custom made Chandelier illuminates the cabin, providing elegance and style. Entering the cabin, our guests will be welcomed into our cozy mud-room with heated floors where all shoes, coats and outdoors attire can be kept.
The Palisades Ski Cabin features a two car garage with a covered access to the cabin.
Winter Activities - Ski like a local – Squaw Valley USA:
The Squaw Valley Ski Resort is the second largest ski area in Lake Tahoe. The Squaw Valley base is at 6,200 feet and the highest peak is 9,050 feet above sea level. During the winter months, Squaw Valley offers the most challenging and exciting skiing in the Tahoe Area, with a 2,850 ft vertical rise and 4000 acres of terrain, this mountain is a playground for skiers and snow boarders alike. Due to the size of the mountain, the Squaw Valley Ski Corporation maintains advanced technology to decrease lift line waits, mainly by implementing high speed and high volume chairlifts, a European style Funitel and a tram to High camp for Skiers as well as non-skiers. Ice-Skating is offered at High Camp as well as at the skating rink at the Resort at Squaw Creek. Cross Country skiing is offered through The Squaw Creek Resort in the Squaw Valley meadows.

I stayed for one week with my girlfriend at the palisades cabin and it was hard to leave again! Everything was well maintained and perfectly clean in the house. The interior is of highest standard and the furniture seems new. However you can still feel the history of this ancient house which makes a wonderful synergie. When we arrived we found a pretty set up in the bathrooms with all the towls in a precise fold and it seemd so tidy that we could have been the first visitors ever! Please forward our congratulations to your cleaning staff... Thanks for many great little details. The phenomenal kitchen utilities and the well maintained bbq on the deck tempted us to stay in for most dinners and cook ourselves, although it is only a very short walk to the restaurants of Squaw Valley. We loved the ambience, the fresh air, but above all the house itself! We used the daytime to go canoeing and wakeboarding on the lake, swimming in the river and hiking on the mountain. The nearby shops in Tahoe city allowed us to get everything we needed for fantastic dinners at the cabin. We are allready planning our next visit and can fully recomend this property to anyone that loves high standards and beautiful ambience.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children.

At the End of July 2010, my husband and I spent some days at the Historic Palisades Cabin. When we entered the lodge, we were overwhelmed by the architecture and interior of this perfect cabin. We fell immediately in love with the combination of the old and modern style and enjoyed our stay there every moment. For us, the summer at Lake Tahoe was outstanding and even worth the trip (we flew in from Germany!) We swam, hiked, canoed and sailed! In the evenings, we sat outside on the deck, having a good glass of wine and found rest after the days sportive activities. We will come back!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing.
