Our entire San Diego County family came up to the Upper Meadow Lodge for Thanksgiving weekend. There were 24 of us (including babies) and we were all very comfortable in the house - each family had our own bedroom suite. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner in the massive kitchen - never getting in the way of one another and had a sit down dinner for all of us in the huge dining area. It was terrific! We played ping pong in the garage, cards and chess in the living room; unforgettable holiday and the hot tub on a cold night was enjoyed by all. Stars are unreal in the sky and the afternoon sun on the extended porch was spectacular. Friends came by during the day to visit and awe the surroundings. Was just perfect! When you have a big family and you want to all be together for Thanksgiving - Upper Meadow Lodge is the best. Can't wait to rebook for next year.

If seclusion is what your group wants, with great views, cool weather compared to the the base of the mountain, this is your place. We gathered from FL, IN, NV and SoCal in July of 2011 and everyone loved it. Large, spacious house and what we called the doll house made a convienent, quiet couple retreat from the late night poker sessions. Very confortable a probably equal distance from Temecula and San Diego. John Wayne airport was convienent for us. We had 19 folks and one mom and son slept on air mattresses the rest of us in bedding! GopherIt......djb, Naples, FL

We had visitors from all over…Portland, Oakland, Phoenix, Santa Cruz and San Diego. We all had a great time in the Upper Meadow Lodge during a winter blizzard. It ended with a sunny day and lots of good memories. Jesse C. San Diego, CA February 2011

WOW! We had a great time with our entire family. The facility was absolutely perfect for our 3 day event. Each family had their own bedroom when quiet time was needed. But most of our time was spent in the kitchen, family and dining areas just having fun. We also spent hours on the front and back patios visiting and watching the kids play on the swings, chase bugs and lizards and throw frisbees through the meadow. At night we looked at the moon and even saw the rings of Saturn through the telescope. We walked through the woods, visited the Observatory and went to Julian to buy pies and ride the Pioneer railways and pan for gold. An absolutely wonderful family reunion I am sure we will all be talking about this for years to come. Thanks for providing such an ideal location.

Our family came to stay in this awesome Lodge from all over the US. We could not have found a more perfect gathering place. We played, laughed, cried and found so much peace and solace. The caretakers, Alan and Diana, were so helpful and pleasant. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your pristine mountain get-away.

We had the most amazing weekend here. The property is absolutely gorgeous, and has every amenity you can imagine. The lodge is beautifuly maintained and immaculate. The beds were so comfortable, and each room has it's own charm. There is a little store not too far away, just in case you forget something. It is so lovely and I highly recommend it! We didn't want to leave. Try not to drive up at night because the road is pretty curvy, but well worth the trip.

First of all, the photos do not justify the spectacular views and the grandiose house once you walk in. The drive through all the winding roads was all worth it. The location was perfect—you really don't have to travel far! Once we got there, we all forgot the hustle and bustle of the city life. It was a wonderful and ideal retreat house. It’s as if we didn't leave home...we all felt very comfortable...home away from home. It was like camping extravagantly inside a huge mansion. We all stayed up late telling stories and cooking (the highlight of my trip) tons of food until dawn. The large gourmet kitchen left me speechless…it’s truly the dream kitchen of every COOK! This trip was truly memorable for all of us not to mention the surprise 50th birthday celebration for our friend Necy. The weather was perfect! Our kids had the most fun. We had the chance to visit the Palomar Observatory and Lake Henshaw—took lots of pictures. We ended our trip with an Easter Mass while looking out on a massive formation of clouds floating on the Palomar - Cuyamaca Peak and the stunning view of the sky gave a feeling of calmness watching everybody in the room—what a surreal moment. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your home.

We just had our 5th annual Mom's Retreat at Upper Meadow Lodge. 14 of us never felt a bit crowded. It was truly amazing. Such a comfortable, cozy home,we hardly went outside....but when we did, it is nothing short of spectacular. Stars. Fresh air. You've never heard anything so quiet! The property managers were warm and helpful. Everything we needed was there. A great location for a retreat or just a get away for a couple of families.
