  April 5-8, 2013 We have been going to the New Braunfels area for many years and have stayed in a number of rentals from hotel rooms to condos and B & B's in the Gruene area but wanted to stay somewhere quieter. Walhiefer Haus turned out to be perfect. There were two adult couples so the size of the home offered more space than necessary, which was nice. Lots of parking. The location gives the opportunity to stay in the country and still be only six miles from all of the activities in the Gruene and New Braunfels area. Riley's Bar is right next door while The Happy Cow bar is a short quiet walk down the road. The "Cow" has excellent food that is served late. The trains coming by are something to be aware of but they caused us no problems at all. The property and the area are both fun to explore. Bettie is very flexible, professional and easy to contact. It's our new "home away from home" for future trips. The Martins Dallas, Texas

  We had a great time! The place was PERFECT! We had 13 people in our party, all adults and there was plenty of room to hang out and sleep. The BBQ patio area is nice, and the picnic table is convenient. It could use a little more light out there, but it was sufficient and not a big deal. Lots of BBQ Pits and all the supplies needed for BBQing. Very big yard! And even a spot for a Bonfire. The inside was cozy and had many rooms and many, many, many beds. Lots of full size beds and a couple twin size beds. It is a little older home, but clean and very comfortable. Bring extra towels. There's only a couple in the room. We could have used some trash bags too at clean up time. We made a trip to the local bar down the street - walking distance. It was fun and a very easy walk back. There is a train that goes by every so often, but they'e fast and it didn't bother us at all. We definitely will come again! Next time, we plan to make it a family outing for all of us and there will STILL be plenty of room. Thanks Wahlhiefer Haus! We will be back again soon!!

  I wanted to thank Bettie for the use of the farmhouse. It was an amazing trip for all of us. There were 12 of us that visited the Wahlhiefer Haus for the weekend. We all had wonderful time.The location was perfect. The 2 bars nearby worked well for us after a long day on the river. The house was clean and comfortable. We did not realize there was a train that was so close by and honked its horn everytime it came by, but I think after a couple times, we got use to the noise. Just be aware.   This was the second time we rented this house & once again, it was perfect! We love the location & the boys love the bunkhouse! The realtor is so easy to work with, very cordial, informative, reachable & does followups. Since we have lots of grandsons, we would like to see a basketball goal installed on the driveway if possible. We would definitely rent it again!!

  Bettie is very sweet and so easy to work with! We made a last minute reservation for a family and friends trip to New Braunfels, and everyone LOVED the place! I made the booking and got so many compliments on the choice from our guest. The price was reasonable and the place was AWESOME! There is some fun history about this place, it is very clean, close to many of the attractions, and we were all very comfortable! I would book this place again!

  We had a wonderful time at the Wahlhiefer Haus. We had a group of 19 guys and gals and the house fit us perfectly. We rented out both the main house and the bunk house. The house is right behind a Tavern which at night did not bother us at all. It was actually great to have it in walking distance. They had great food and a great atmosphere. Horse shoes and washers made hanging outside a blast and of course all the girls loved the tree swing!! The house is so beautiful and very spacious!

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  Our extended family rented Wahlhiefer Haus for the Memorial weekend and it was the best time we've had in a while. There was more than enough space for everyone and we enjoyed each others company just hanging out, watching the deer, armadillos, birds, etc. The house is very well taken care of, charming, and very clean. The owner, Betties was a joy to work with, she went way beyond the call of duty to make sure we enjoyed our stay, extremely east to work with and respected our privacy as well. We look forward to renting again next year, thanks for everything Bettie. I'd recommend Wahlhiefer Haus 100% to anyone looking to get away to just enjoy getting out of the city and enjoying quality family time. See you next year Bettie.

  Our group has come down to the Wahlhiefer Haus every year for at least the last five years, and we absolutely love it. There aren't many places that can sleep and feed 22 people comfortably, but the Wahlhiefer Haus manages it. It has everything you need to stay there for weeks at a time. I guess the main downside is that there isn't much to do in Hunter, TX, where it's located (except for Riley's Tavern, which is great), but it's close to New Braunfels and to the Tanger Outlet Mall. The other thing I have to say is that Bettie, the owner, is absolutely great. During our stay this year, the kitchen light wasn't working. She had called us the evening after we arrived to make sure everything was going well, so we told her about the light. The next morning, she had a handyman over to look at the light. When he couldn't fix it, she had an electrician come out the next day. I thought it was remarkable how promptly she addressed our concerns, and how she stayed in touch with us throughout the whole process to make sure everything was taken care of.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

  We had a wonderful time at the Wahlheifer Haus! This was conveniently located to all of our planned outings and was able to accomodate all of our group. The price was better than any we could have gotten at a hotel/motel and a much better atmosphere than the usual hotel room. We will recommend this quaint house to all of our friends and will definitely stay again the next time we are in the San Antonio area.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
