Once you're settled in the 3500 square-foot house, you might not want to use your car again, as it's easier to boat over to the village and explore the charms of this private mountain lake. The house is set up with a master bedroom on the main level, and 4 bedrooms upstairs, with 2 bathrooms.

The lower 'rec-room' level has a sleeper sofa, and an additional bathroom with shower. 2 large decks provide lots of opportunities for sunning, eating, or just watching the boats go by. There are 3 king beds, 1 queen, 5 singles, a sleeper sofa, and a crib. In addition, two rollaway beds are available, as is a twin mattress.

The Lake Arrowhead area is a somewhat undiscovered area, as the lake is completely private. This means that there is no access for day boaters to get out on the lake. There is a charming village a short boat ride away, with restaurants, groceries and shops.

The summertime has the feel of a summer camp, with the boat traffic starting at 7am sharp (wakeboarding, water skiing, and air chairs - no inflatable's or jet skis allowed.) The village does a summer concert series, and the weekends are lively.

Fall remains warm and beautiful usually, and the winters are quiet and serene, with fun sledding runs to be found and much reduced noise and traffic on the lake (most boats are hauled out into storage during the winter, including ours - a 21' Four Winns).

There is an ALA (Arrowhead Lake Association) path that winds around the lake and can be accessed right below our home. It provides a nice opportunity for small hikes down to 'Bruin Woods' (the UCLA Conference Center) or the other way to a lovely swing hung between two big trees.

Please be advised that this home, although lovely, is not the easiest to access. There is parking for approximately 6 cars, 2 in the garage. However, there are 79 steps from the driveway down to the house. The tram on the property has been disabled for insurance reasons, due to lack of safety features. It is probably not the ideal location for an older renter, or for someone with bad knees!

  • This house is amazing! The view of the lake takes your breath away the moment you walk in the house, and once you're there, you won't want to leave! Quiet and serene in the winter, fun and full of activity in the summer, there's something for everyone at Lake Arrowhead. A great family getaway. I have stayed there numerous times and highly recommend it! Have fun.
