Located at MP 6 3/4, A Parrot's Perch is "between the highways" this SAT-SAT cottage is great for a couple, small family, or groups wanting to keep additional family & friends close by. Our home, although in the tradition of the Old Nags Head style, is totally remodeled & up to date. This property is fresh, clean & modern on the inside. Parrot's Perch sits on a quiet pond. It's a great place to sit & relax on the Deck to watch the geese, ducks & turtles, as well as fish.

The kitchen is fully equipped, right down to plenty of coffee mugs & wine glasses. All bedding INCLUDING SHEETS & TOWELS are provided along with iron, hair dryer, soap, paper products & some household supplies. All you need to bring is your personal items, food, spices & condiments, beach equipment & beach towels. Some beach towels & chairs will be provided for '10.

Comfortable seating in Living area for a family of 6.

The deck overlooking the pond is a great place to get a tan mid-day with 3 loungers & cookout in the evening. Enjoy the front porch for coffee & breakfast in the morning & is a great place to sit & chat in the evenings.

The house is located on the ground level so it has easy access for those who need fewer steps.

Restaurants, shopping & movie theaters are all within walking distance. It's a quick drive to the historic Wright Brothers Memorial, golf, putt-putt, sound access for water sports, Avalon Pier, Dare County Parks & Rec for basketball courts, tennis & playground. The YMCA for an ADDITIONAL FEE, offers a weekly membership at their facilities including an outdoor pool & more (contact the Y for details).

You can walk to the boarded beach access in 2 1/2 minutes. Beaches in KDH have Life Guards Memorial day-Labor Day. The Beach Access at the end of 3rd St has a paved drop off area, should you choose to unload the kids, coolers & beach equipment by vehicle, however, it is a No Parking Zone.

PETS MAY REQUIRE A $25 PET FEE. Please, clean up after your pet(s).

We DO WELCOME SMOKERS who will use the "sand buttkets", located on the deck & porch.

We are local, we prepare & maintain our rental home before your arrival personally to make sure it is clean, comfortable, maintained & ready for you to enjoy. There is NO Additional Cleaning Fee, however, the house will be clean, fresh & ready for your stay.

NO SECURITY DEPOSIT, we just ask that you treat our home "better than you would your own", so it is nice for the next guests!

CHECK-IN Owners will make every effort to accommodate your specific arrival time; however, Keep in mind there may be times when we need extra time to prepare the house for your stay!
CHECK-OUT is 10 A.M. or Earlier; Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS unless agreed in advance (noted on the lease)!

We ACCEPT PAYPAL with a nominal fee, we do not take credit cards in order to keep our rental rates affordable.

  • Enclosed Hot/Cold Outside Shower,great place for the guys & kids to shower-they love it! We will provide list of items provided 2 weeks prior to check-in. Bar table/3 chairs, plus 4 tv tables & seating on front porch for eating. Bathroom has a shower only. Book library.
• Suitability
  • Pet Friendly: Pets must be cleared with owner prior to making reservations. Pets are not allowed on the beach Mid May - Mid September from 9am-6pm. Keep pets on a leash while outdoors for their safety & it's the law in KDH. Thanks for cleaning up behind your animals!
  • Minimum Age Limit for Renters: Guest(s)signing the lease must be at least 21 years old. Families only unless otherwise approved by the owner. We do not rent to student groups.
  • Smoking Not Allowed: We welcome smokers who will smoke outside & use the "sand buttkets" located on the deck & porch

Ocracoke Island, Hatteras & Corolla Lighthouses are a great day trip from our home.

  • This was a wonderful house to stay in. We were impressed just driving up and walking around the outside. It has clearly been updated and is well taken care of. It was more than enough room for myself, my boyfriend and our 2 dogs. The walk to the beach is really quick. The house is centrally located to everything. Suzan is a pleasure to deal with. Thanks for everything!

  • This was an adorable little house. Perfect for my husband, myself, and our dogs. The beach is a only a few min walk, owner was very pleasant to deal with and answered all my questions. We will def visit again !!!
