Located at MP 6 3/4, A Parrot's Perch is "between the highways" this SAT-SAT cottage is great for a couple, small family, or groups wanting to keep additional family & friends close by. Our home, although in the tradition of the Old Nags Head style, is totally remodeled & up to date. This property is fresh, clean & modern on the inside. . Parrot's Perch sits on a quiet pond. It's a great place to sit & relax on the Deck to watch the geese, ducks & turtles.
The kitchen is fully equipped, right down to plenty of coffee mugs & wine glasses. Also available is an iron/board, hair dryer & towels are provided at no charge, basic amenities such as soap, paper products & trash bags supplied. Bring your own sheets.
Comfortable seating in Living area for a family of 6.
The deck overlooking the pond is a great place to get a tan mid-day with 3 loungers & cookout in the evening. Enjoy the front porch for coffee & breakfast in the morning & is a great place to sit & chat in the evenings. We will be providing a New Grill & adding a clothes line for our guest's convenience Spring 2012.
The house is located on the ground level so it has easy access for those who need fewer steps.
Restaurants, shopping & movie theaters are all within walking distance. It's a quick drive to the historic Wright Brothers Memorial, golf, putt-putt, sound access for water sports, Avalon Pier, Dare County Parks & Rec for basketball courts, tennis & playground. The YMCA for an ADDITIONAL FEE, offers a weekly membership at their facilities including an outdoor pool & more (contact the Y for details).
You can walk to the boarded beach access in 2 1/2 minutes approximately 650'. Beaches in KDH have Life Guards Memorial day-Labor Day. The Beach Access at the end of 3rd St has a paved drop off area, should you choose to unload the kids, coolers & beach equipment by vehicle, however, it is a No Parking Zone.
Dogs are allowed w/prior permission of the owner. The pet fee is $30 + tax. Multiple dogs & animals 50#+ may require an additional pet fee. PLEASE, clean up the yard after your pet(s). Animals should not be left alone in the house unless crated or otherwise approved prior to lease. Pets should be on a leash outside & on beaches. Pets are allowed on the beach mid May - mid Sept after 6pm & before 9am & any time the rest of the year.
We DO WELCOME SMOKERS who will use the "sand buttkets", located on the deck & porch & not smoke inside the house.
We are family operated. Family or I prepare & maintain our rental home before your arrival personally to make sure it is clean, comfortable, maintained & ready for you to enjoy. There is NO Additional Cleaning Fee, however, the house will be clean, fresh & ready for your stay.
NO SECURITY DEPOSIT, we just ask that you treat our home "better than you would your own", so it is nice for the next guests!
CHECK-IN is generally 2pm, owners will make every effort to accommodate your specific arrival time; however, Keep in mind there may be times when we need extra time to prepare the house for your stay!
CHECK-OUT is 10 A.M. or Earlier; Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS unless agreed upon in advance in writing on the lease!
PAYMENT INFO
We ACCEPT PAYPAL for the initial payment as well as personal checks. We do not take credit cards in order to keep our rental rates affordable. Personal Checks are accepted 3 weeks prior to check in. Any rents paid within 3 weeks of arrival must be Certified funds. Cash & Paypal for "last minute" reservations are also accepted. A signed lease is required prior to check in. Once a reservation is made, the initial payment is due within 5 mailing days of 1/2 the rent. Advanced reservation balances are due in-hand 3 weeks prior to check-in.

The Unique Benefits at this House
Towels are provided at no charge. Bring your own sheets. Basic paper products, trash bags provided upon your arrival, along with hand soap (you may need to supplement additional supplies midweek).
All mattress pads, spreads/comforters, rugs, shower curtains are cleaned behind each tenancy.
Owner &/or family handles each reservation & preparation for your stay personally.
You are our guest, all we ask is that you leave no dirty dishes, leave the frig empty, put your trash in the exterior trash can provided, start the towels in the washer & clean up after your pet outdoors. If you smoke clean the butts out of the sand buckets on porch & deck, please.

I managed properties for one of the largest management firms on the Outer Banks for 16 years. Now I only handle & take care of my own. My family cleans &/or inspects every week. Every effort is made to insure your stay is comfortable, easy & fun! Should a problem arise I have access to general maintenance people & specialist, problems can almost always be taken care of within 24 hrs. If my guests need anything, all they have to do is call me.

We just got home from our stay at this home and had an amazing time! There were 3 adults and 2 children (4 and 13) and there was plenty of room for us. Very close walk to the beach and right across the street from a Belk, Food Lion, and a Kangaroo gas station. Within walking distance of Kmart and the movie theater and the house had any and everything you could imagine. I was amazed at how clean the house was and our family was very comfortable there! The turtles came right up to the edge of the water and the kids loved it. Thank you Suzan for being so great to work with and we look forward to our trip there next year!

This house was perfect for my husband and I as well as our dog. It is centrally located to all of the great restaurants and shops yet a quiet neighborhood. It was great to have everything on one level because my husband is disabled and finds climbing stairs difficult. I will definitely keep this house on our list for the next visit to the OBX.

Great house and wonderful location. It is wonderful to rent a home that is clean and well kept. I had rented from Suzan prior to my last visit 9/10 and the cleanliness of her rentals is one of the reasons I chose to rent from her again. The walk to the beach is a very short walk which is another plus. Being able to bring my dogs who love the beach is yet another plus with this rental. :) I would recommend this home to anyone. I wish the second bedroom had a double bed but I know the bunk beds are a plus for families with children. Feeding the turtles and watching the wildlife is fun even for adults.

Parrot's Perch is the best beach house anyone could ever stay. The first thing we noticed when we opened the doors was how clean it smelled, the carpets had just been cleaned and you could tell!!! This was my first trip to OBX and i'm very glad I found this house to stay at. I will definately be returning again, hoping to even make a trip in the Fall. Thanks so much Suzann for renting your house, as my family and I enjoyed it tremendously.

A couple of friends & I decided to get away for a few days, & we picked the most perfect place to do so...."Parrots Perch" This cottage is for every age! And so clean with all the comforts of home...I will be a regular renter!!!

My husband, my dog and I stayed there in Oct - Nov 2010 and we were delighted with the house. It was just enough room for us to be very comfortable. It had all the comforts of home away from home. It was a short walk to the beach and we especially enjoyed the deck over looking the water. We fed the turtles and the fish. The owner was very friendly and accommondating. We look forward to our next opportunity to stay.

My family and I stayed a A Parrot's Perch this past summer. The cottage was in immaculate condition, and was clean and tidy. This is now one of our favorite places to vacation and we will be back. Early mornings and evenings on the deck are a real pleasure watching the cranes roost and the turtles come begging for handouts. Our dog loved walking to and along the beach, this cottage is in an ideal position, within walking distance to grocery stores, the movies and a department store. Minutes to the beach and eateries.

My wife and I spent 10 days here at Parrots Perch in October. Waht pleasent time we had. The owner was very easy to work wit and to our suprise when we walked through the door to fine a very clean and orderly cottage. I would recommend this cottage to and couple or a couple with small children. Teenagers would feel cramped here. The ownwe had supplied the cottage with towels, sheets beach towels and we found paper towels toliet paper soap and frabic softner for the washer and drier. When we walked out the kitchen door to the deck over the pond we were welcome by the welcoming committee we were greeted by 9 turtles all looking for something to eat. If you take small children stop at walmart and buy some turtle food they will have fun feeding them. Our only drawback was the high pedstel table for dinning. Other than that we would again rent this cottage for a stay.
Owner response:The table & stools the guest mentioned is a bar table & stools that work with the table. It is not a kitchen table. However, there are 4 nice sturdy TV tables that can be used right in the living area for children or adults that want to sit at a lower height. The table is shown in the pictures, (check them out). So folks know what they are getting before they rent. We have had many teens stay with their parents over the last 2 summers...but I do agree, the cottage is best suited for couples and parents with children 13 & under due to the bedding arrangements, also listed in the description. The turtles in the pond are great fun. They are always there in the evening under the deck waiting for a handout, they eat small portions of leftovers as well. Turtle food all though a good idea is not required. We do try keep some everyday household things at the house for convenience. Before you shop-check out what is already at the cottage, it may save you some money at the store.
