We wanted to miss the snow.... and we did. This is a place to consider that is within a short beach-walk west to Cabarete and a short few minutes to a great restaurant/bar just east on the beach. The second floor unit facing the ocean afforded a great view and the privacy we wanted. For more activity, just start walking. (I am 80 years old). Two bedrooms/two bath. I could snore as vibrantly as I wanted without disturbing anyone. My partner was overjoyed with that. The unit is modestly furnished with everything we needed. When the toaster quit toasting, the staff immediately brought us a new one. The owner arranged for airport pick up and drop off which made it easier for us. Hot water was always available and plentiful. There is A/C in both bedrooms but we never had a need to use it. A sea breeze keeps the interior very cool. Full sized fridge, stove with oven, just like home made meal preparations very easy although I do admit to going out quite often. My partner prefers eating to cooking. She also prefers chocolates to hamburgers. The pictures on the site are pretty much what you get so no surprises. Typically we walked to Cabarete for groceries and if we bought too much (wine is heavy) we'd catch a moto (motorcycle back). Three on a moto with two bags of groceries is quite doable and cost only 50 pesos (slightly over a dollar US). We took a cab once. Can't remember why. That's 250 pesos. The front porch is large and a great place to relax in the evening and get in sync with the waves. The swimming pool is literally a stones throw away. You'll love Cabarete if you want a little more activity but nothing overpowering. We saw a mix of people of all ages including seniors and kids and from all parts of the world. Cabarete offers about any kind of food you might want plus several grocery stores well stocked. Finally I got my fill of avocados and mangos. By the way, the beaches are very clean not like in some other south american places we've visited. There are large logs which occasionally wander in and I suggest a flashlight at night although we never used one. We had a bright moon.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
