This two story, 12 year old Victorian farmhouse combines the charm of a B&B with the practicality of a modern home. Enjoy the attention to detail inside and out! Multiple spacious rooms are great for larger gatherings. Something for all ages... the baby grand piano in the formal living room, a pool table, TV, games, and toys in the family room, and outside the badminton, decks and patios.
Downstairs, prepare meals in the large country kitchen with all the convenient amenities. Choose where you want to eat... at the large kitchen table, the adjacent formal dining room, the spacious front porch with gorgeous sunset views, or the sheltered back patio with casual seating and a fountain. Relax before the fire in the living room where there is a baby grand piano and spectacular view from the large bay window. Two downstairs bedrooms are perfect for a family unit... one room with a queen bed and the other with two singles.
Walk upstairs and the large, high ceiling family room has a pool table, satellite TV, books for young and old, games and even toys for the little ones. One of the couches is a day bed that sleeps two. Throw sleeping bags on the couch or blow up an air bed for extra sleeping. Or for the adventurous, sleep out under the stars on the upper deck! In the master bedroom suite, enjoy the spectacular view as you lay in the king size bed. The large lilac bedroom has a queen bed, a daybed, and room for a crib or single air bed... perfect for just a couple or a small family. The final, smallest upstairs bedroom is great for the kids... a bunk bed with a double futon beneath a single bed. On the loft above the staircase, you can relax and enjoy the panoramic view while you catch up on email or browse the web at the large oak desk.
This house is perfect for a staff retreat or a multiple family get-together (like reunions, out-of-town wedding guests), a "girls get-away," or an intimate wedding. - A 20 minute drive to visit the Gold Country towns of Grass Valley, Nevada City and Auburn. A ten minute drive gets you to the Bear River for a jump off the rocks into the water. There are variety of small independent wineries and local growers in the area. The private community of Lake of the Pines is a short 3 minutes away and has an 18 hole golf course, beaches, tennis and a pool. A 1 hour drive to the ski areas of Lake Tahoe or 2 hours to San Francisco or the Napa Valley. 45 minutes get you to Old Town Sacramento where there is a fantastic train museum and wonderful shops. Coloma where gold was first discovered... the gardens and mansion of the Empire Mine... and so much more to do in this beautiful and historic area! Ask us!
Rate Details (In US Dollars)
Spring/ Fall Rates .. $300/night. $1800/week.
Summer/Holiday Rates .. $350/night (June thru August). $2100/week.
Three night minimum during holidays- Memor/Labor Day, T-Giving, Christmas, N-Years
Rates are for 14 people. Each additional person: $20/stay.
Cleaning fee: $150/stay. Up to $100 is refundable if conditions met.
Deposit: $500. Also, 10% local tax will be added.
Payments by check or through Pay Pal. (Which allows you to use a credit card).

Why the Owner Chose Grass Valley
When we lived in the home, we often had people say how much they enjoyed it. We often would think what a great B&B it would make... except that I doubt people would pay for my cooking! However I do love decorating! And people seem to enjoy the result! So we have the "Bed" without the "Breakfast"... preparing the meals... that's your task! And the beautiful kitchen is functional and friendly for large family style dining. Hey, there is always Round Table Pizza, Hunan's Chinese, Quizno's or The Northridge (sit down varied menu) within a 5 minute drive.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love the fabulous sunsets, the grazing deer (when not eating the roses), the tinkling fountain, the panorama views in the morning light, the proximity to so many recreational and historic places... including Lake of the Pines and all the amenities there (which we are happy to share with you). We love that we are above the valley fog and below the snow line most days in winter. We feel blessed to live in such a fabulous area!
The local market has great fresh produce and saves a trip to town.
Large swimming pool, children's playground, tennis courts,and sandy beach is great for swimming. Site for 4th of July festivities and Triathlon on Labor Day weekend.
Boats must be owned by residents only. Great swim beach and playground. BBQ and picnic benches.
Magnolia Middle School and Cottage Hill Elementary are all clustered near the high school.
Drive south on Hwy 49 to Auburn... Target, Hospital, chain restaurants and markets.

We built the home in 1996 when our youngest daughter was an infant. We raised our five kids in the home and have loved making it a welcoming and hospitable home! We have totally enjoyed living in this beautiful foothill community for the past 22 years, and would love to share its beauty and recreational resources with you! We now have only one child at home and have moved to a smaller home in the nearby Lake of the Pines. We continue to use the house as our own "vacation retreat" when our other children and their spouses come to visit.
