Our old Railroad Bunkhouse (circa 1870s) in historic downtown Truckee is still a work in progress.
Downstairs is the Huddle-Up/sleeper studio; quaint and cozy. There are two double beds; a Murphy bed and the 'Huddle up' (named by our granddaughter), both with fresh linens, and down comforters. The full bathroom has an antique footed tub with shower.
The kitchenette is perfect for simple fare. A coffee pot, microwave, toaster oven and refrigerator (no stove) complete this galley-type kitchen. TV, DVD/VCR, WiFi. Parking and snow removal provided.
The location is excellent for those who are looking to enjoy the shops, art studios, wine tasting and restaurants in historic downtown Truckee. We are located in the old Brickelltown neighborhood, across from the railroad, just a 3-minute walk to Commercial Row and the AMTRAK station. Nordic and downhill ski resorts including Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar and Sugar Bowl are a short drive. Donner Lake, the Truckee River, Lake Tahoe and the Tahoe National Forest offer abundant recreation alternatives in close proximity.
We have lived here for over 25 years, on site, upstairs. If you have any questions please ask us. We look forward to your inquiries. Val and Buff/ Railroad Bunkhouse/The Huddle Up

My friend and I had only 1.5 days to explore Lake Tahoe. We wanted to do some hiking and kayaking, but also have a fun night in town. This unit is in a good location to easily check out the beaches and slopes in North Lake or Tahoe City, while offering the more cozy feeling of the town of Truckee. The car traffic on the road immediately in front of the unit can help lull you to sleep, while the trains on the tracks just a lane over provide the soundtrack for a stay in a mountainside town. The unit is well represented in the pictures, clean and comfortable, though a little dimmer without the camera flash. The owners are incredibly flexible and kind, and helpful with their knowledge of the area.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thank you Trang, hope we will see you again. BTW you write beautifully. Val and Buff

We stayed here in March of 2009 and again in March of 2010; two weeks each time. The unit is small, but is very nice, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location is fabulous - a few minutes walk to all the restaurants and stores in downtown Truckee; a short drive to Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, North Star, and several cross country ski areas. Easy parking, and when it snowed at night the car was cleaned off and ready to go in the morning. But the best thing about this property is the wonderful owners, who live above the unit. They are very helpful, hospitable and generous. They have become our good friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

The description was accurate regarding the location , photos , cleaniness etc. We were very comfortable there.. I would recommend this place to family and friends.. We walked to downtown Truckee for breakfast lunch and dinner. We also did a lot of window shopping and buying a few thngs. We had a very nice size fridge so we were able to buy what we needed to have snacks or light meals.. Thanks Buffalo & Val.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.
Owner response: Dear Ellen and Larry, Thank you for your positive review. Hope you'll stay with us on your next visit to Truckee. Val and Buff
