I'm biased as this was my childhood home (before current owners) and it was a dream come true (of 33 years) to be able to stay here again. With that said, I'd also think I'd be more picky than anyone else staying here and we found our experience to be incredibly perfect. I had been worried about the heat and the lack of windows that open, but as it turned out, there was never a time anyone in our family was too hot. This home has always had a piece of my heart and now after this amazing opportunity to be in the home again, I can see why my siblings and I always loved it and missed it. Anyone who rents this home will leave relaxed and with piece and joy in their heart.:)

Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Good time in Charlevoix

The house was beautiful, and we absolutely loved the porch. Everything was clean and nice, and great to be able to bring the dog. My only issue was the fact that most of the first floor windows did not open, and without air conditioning, this was a problem. Also only 1 fan in the house, we had to buy a second for the 2nd bedroom. Otherwise, everything was as advertised. Kitchen, bedrooms, all were very nice.

Recommended for:Pet owners, families with teenagers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful Northern Michigan home. The location was perfect as we could walk to restaurants, shops and Lake Michigan. Enjoying coffee on the front porch is the best way to start your day. We can't wait to come back!

This is our second summer staying at the house... both visits were a complete joy! The kitchen is very well equipped (better than our kitchen at home) and a pleasure to cook in. The house is clean, charming, & comfortable. Our friends' young son loved playing with the collection of musical instruments. The porch is amazing! It's wonderful to sit on one of the porch swings and just enjoy the evening. We also spent many of our nights here barbecuing and eating on the porch's dining table. Another favorite activity for us is to pop over to the beach (1 block away... there's a public access stairway on Michigan Avenue just past Petoskey Avenue) for walks and petoskey stone (fossil) hunting. About a mile north on Hwy 31 is Esperance... It's an amazing gourmet store (and I say that as a NYC resident). Be sure to stop by for wine, cheese, & chocolate. This summer (2009) they just started serving lunch and dinner--which rival anything we've had in Manhattan. Our favorites in downtown Charlevoix (a 2 block walk from the house) include the burgers and fried white fish at the Villager Pub, Kilwin's Fudge, and the saltwater taffy.

What an absolutely beautiful home! My family always enjoys visiting Charlevoix and we think that downtown living is the way to go. We've done lake homes, beach homes and this beautiful HOME. Its a home that makes you feel at home. STUNNING front porch and lots of character. Its got all of the conveniences of being downtown, plus walking distance to the marina on Lake Charlevoix, bars, restaurants and the big pond (Lake MI). We'll definitely be staying here for years to come!
