When you open the door you can see right through the house to the bay. We never shut the blinds. Even though our stay included several days of thunderstorms and rain, it was still beautiful to see the waves lap upon the dock, and even the rain sprinkle the water like diamonds. The lightning strikes were breathtaking. We lost power twice, but just wanted to make clear that this place is fabulous even in stormy weather. We have a teenager, and even though he was not-entertained-every-single-minute of the trip with friends and other distractions, he enjoyed just hanging out on the porch. (We were a house divided on who liked the porch better and who preferred the dock with feet dangling over the edge in the brisk breeze). We entertained in a very well stocked kitchen. We went out only twice. (We especially enjoyed the Market Bay cafe on Highway 98). Jesse's was a nice close to our week on Saturday night, with moist fish and wonderful fried green tomatoes with crab meat. Though it has white tablecloths, they welcome your shorts, t-shirts, and burnt noses. The very old and very famous Grand Hotel, (run by Marriott), is only about 3 miles away. We spent part of a day there with friends who were guests there. You do not have to be a guest at the hotel to eat at their poolside cafe/bar or other more formal dining areas. Ruth was so gracious to provide us with a list of entertainment options. We did go to the water park, but my children did not prefer that over the home. (Um, yes, that is a first). The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. The house is more immaculate than mine, I am afraid to say, and I have a housekeeper, too! I especially loved the city of Fairhope, and most certainly helped the US economy with my purchases. There are lovely oil paintings,(one came home with us), and other fine art work, and I loved the fact that many of the artisans are local. (We bought several pieces of jewelry made locally). Thought we did go into Foley on a rainy day to the outlet mall, we had no desire to go down to the public beaches=or private beaches for that matter. We just had no need for any better view than we had in our own backyard. God created the heavens and the earth in 6 days, and rested on the 7th. We have taught our children to enjoy the beauty of a flower or a striped fish in an aquarium and know that God made it all for us to enjoy. Happy Anniversary is another fine example of God's perfect handiwork. Thank you Ruth.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I and three grown children spent a very enjoyable week in the Happy Anniversary House. The setting is prefect with the huge old live oak trees and the wonderful view of Mobile Bay. The house is as advertised and was in perfect condition for us. We have rented houses on the bay for a number of years and this was by far the best and we couldn't have been more pleased. Ruth is easy to work with and very accomodating.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This home was beautifully maintained and clean. It is a wonderful spot on Mobile Bay and a great house for two families or a big family. We had our whole family there: parents, adult children, and grandchildren, and it was very comfortable. Since I grew up in Mobile, I was very familiar with the area. Since there are few sandy beaches left on the bay, we went to the Fairhope Beach and Gulf Shores several times for the grandchilren to play in the sand. They loved it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family enjoyed staying at "Happy Anniversary" for the long Thanksgiving weekend, 2011. Our party consisted of six adults and no children. This cottage was just perfect for us. It is clean, peaceful, well-appointed, and conveniently located. We would happily return for another vacation there, and we are happy to recommend it to others.Did you find this review helpful? The minute I walked into the house I knew that my time spent would be so worth the trip.....serene, so clean, comfortable, the house is exactly like it shows in the pictures. From the front door you can see the water of the bay. The sunsets were magnificent - coffee in the morning on the pier or on the porch- blue heron, dolphins, fishing off the pier, great restaurants - a vacation of great fun and relaxation! Loved it and will return next year! Fall in Fairhope is beautiful! Thank you Ruth for being the BEST vacation by owner EVER!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This house exceeded our expectations. Perfect accommodations in Point Clear. We've stayed at a lot of houses in the area over the years and this one has the perfect combination of location and comfort. The kitchen is well-stocked, the wharf is in perfect condition, and everything is as advertised. We had a very lovely time and the owner is particularly attentive and easy to work with. Would definitely stay again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our Saturday Morning Golf Gang went down and spent 4 nights and 3 days playing golf and staying in this wonderful house. Everything was even better than we expected for our group of 8. The house is immaculate and roomy, the pier and dock out on the Bay was very nice and ALL the beds were comfortable. It was all absolutley perfect for our group or any group for that matter. On a last note.....Ruth was the greatest to work with. She made everything easy and did everything she said she would in order for us to have the best time ever. The entire experience was wonderful. Don't miss out on the house if you are looking for something special.....We will be back...Thanks Ruth. My husband and I came to "Happy Anniversary" on the bay seeking rest, relaxation, and recreation and got all of that and more. Two weeks before our arrival I had cancer surgery and I needed time and rest to heal physically as well as emotionally. We each read ten books, my husband bicycled, we took walks, we watched the beautiful sunsets, we antiqued, we shopped, we visited the art fair in Fairhope, we dined out, we had visitors including our dear grandson, we visited Mobile, we took a day-trip to Dauphin Island and Belingrath Gardens and Home, and most of all we enjoyed this lovely home and its surroundings. It was comfortable and great for just the two of us and also when we had visitors. We didn't want to go home. Oh, and by the way, the owners go out of their way to help, if needed.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family needed a good, relaxing break after a tough year of medical emergencies, the BP oil spill, the 5-year Katrina anniversary...trust me, it was a year of stress. So we wanted a relaxing getaway for our family Thanksgiving dinner. This home was perfect. We loved the pier, which we played on all week, fishing and watching the sunsets, stargazing and sleeping. The interior of the home is just fabulous. All the amenities for cooking, and the rooms are wonderfully decorated. However, the family/kitchen area was clearly our favorite and just perfect for sharing. There is also a screened deck with swings and rockers that became my mom's favorite. We loved this setting. Point Clear is just lovely. We biked and shopped in the area also. But we really didn't leave the property much. It has it all! We will be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

If a group of friends or family want to visit Point Clear or Fairhope, this is THE place to stay. My girlfriends and I found this property and, after an easy process of renting, arrived to find the pictures do NOT do it justice. The home is even MORE cozy than the pictures indicate and the entire lay-out of the place is perfect for a small group. There are 6 twin beds, one king, and one queen! The living room extends out onto the screened porch, allowing for a perfect mix of outdoor and indoor relaxing. The kitchen is very open, allowing for several people to contribute to cooking tasks or drink mixing! We were lucky to visit during a cool spell and the breeze from the front door through to the back porch allowed for us to soak up the fresh air without using the air conditioner. The indoors, which were extremely well maintained, gave us a great place to unwind, however, our favorite spot is the deck at the end of the pier! Every morning we walked out onto the deck and sipped our coffee, while the pelicans and the "pet" egret sat around to watch us! The egret made a visit every day! This trip far surpassed the one we had while staying at The Grand. I do encourage making a visit to The Grand to sample their restaurant foods, which are excellent, and their spa! However, if you want to spend time with your group, staying in this house will definitely add to your memories of Point Clear. The owner was also extremely helpful and made the process of renting a pleasure! You will not be disappointed with this property! We will eagerly return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Since we lost our vacation home in Bay St. Louis in Katrina, Fairhope has become one of our favorite towns on the coast. Our recent vacation was such a great pleasure in large part because of the wonderful house in which we stayed. It was comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The owners were great and contributed to our pleasant experience. Sunsets from the back porch and pier are glorious. Wonderful home on the bay. The rooms were very nicely furnished and very clean. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed eating on the screen porch viewing the sunrises and sunsets. It even had a flat screen TV with cable although our kids didn't want to watch it very often because they were enjoying playing outside and fishing fron the pier. I relaxed by laying out on the end of the pier, enjoying the afternoon breezes. The location was ideal, close to shopping and restaurants if we didn't want to cook in the well equipped kitchen. And the jogging/bike path was just across the street. We can't wait to go back later this summer, so we can go swimming and boating also.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
