This truly charming shingled "cottage" on Little Peconic Bay, built in 1900, is a perfect place for privacy for your family and friends. The screened-in, comfortable front porch overlooks the water. Great sunsets. Large, country kitchen, pantry, large dining room with breakfast nook, den with TV and stereo and large living room with fireplace. Private road yet close to town and all amenities. The 600+ foot private beach is huge, great for a day of reading under an umbrella, or swimming in the calm waters.
Built by our grandfather, the house reflects a laid-back style and we leave the house "as is" for your enjoyment, and ask that you treat it as your own. Read our books, but leave them there.
2 week minimum; now available for July,2009 for $12,500; July 2010 for $12,500 and August 2010 for $20,000 (through Labor Day); other months not available. Please don't ask for weekends or one-week stays.
We value peace and quiet and discourage parties and loud music. We will not rent to vacationing students or singles under 25. SMOKING is NOT allowed. We will consider well-behaved, friendly pets.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1898
My maternal grandfather purchased the land in 1898 and built the house shortly thereafter. It has been added onto over the years, most recently in the 1940s. My family has spent summers and other vacations here for years.
Why the Owner Chose Southold
We didn't buy it for a rental. It's our family home. We rent it to help pay for the taxes, insurance and upkeep.
