Owner's Map of Big Bear City
We love this little cabin- A great city-gal (or boy) get-a-way!
Here we are Suzanne (left) Paula (right) visiting our cabin for a change!
We are both professional designers, so we really had a blast decorating and upgrading this vintage "Maltby" cabin. We bought this cabin with another couple of gal-pal ``````friends with great taste!
("Maltby" is the most well-known mid-century architect of Big Bear; during the heyday of the 1940's. In addition to small utterly charming custom residential log cabins, Maltby did many vintage hotels etc. during that period. Just pick-up any of the historical books on Big Bear and you'll be likely see some of his more "monumental" architecture!).
We chose to maintain many original vintage elements, as it really adds to the charm while maintaining the authenticity of this very "real" log-cabin.
We also really wanted a place that had plenty of room for pets, as we are BIG animal lovers, small & large, and we think they are definitely members of the family too!

Paula, Thank you for a wonderful weekend get away. Your beautiful cabin allowed me, my husband, my two kids, niece and a friend of my kids to enjoy beautiful Big Bear in extreme comfort. The cabin was nicer and better than pictures and description on the web site, exceeded my expectations: clean, spacious, and beautifully furnished with anything you could possibly need and lots more that you can even imagine that you will find at a rental vacation. For us the area was the perfect location. The surroundings were very private and quiet. There are so many things to do and see, grocery stores were very close, loved eating at Jacalitos. We had lots of adventures including a snow storm, first time we see snowing and with 24' of snow to enjoy, but it was so nice to just sit in front of the fireplace and relax. A great place for a family. Thank you again for your hospitality and letting us use and enjoy your beautiful cabin home. The only thing missing were our dogs, with your secured fence and large back yard they also could spend a very good time. We will highly recommend it to friends and family! We'll be back.
Owner response:Thank you! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in our sweet little cabin. Hope to see you again! Best wishes, Sweet Pine owners Paula & Suzanne

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin is named aptly--a sweet pine cabin. We fell in love with the cabin and the whole neighborhood. We walked our dog every night on the tree lined street. The inside of the cabin was absolutely darling and cozy, and clean and comfortable with great amenities.
Owner response:Thank you so much for the kind words, we too feel the name truly fits this little cabin, and as designers who love the vintage aspect of this 1940's log cabin, we are always so thrilled when our guests "get-it", and appreciate a welcoming place that takes you back to a simpler time. We will definitely try to get a better reading light for the bedroom and living room, thanks for the constructive feedback! Good luck on your offer, & we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes, Sweet Pine owners: Paula & Suzanne :)

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at Sweet Pine. Our family enjoyed ourselves so much. It was in a friendly and quiet residential neighborhood, and still close to town. We (and both the dogs) loved the large fenced yard. We spent a lot of time in that wonderful glider on the front porch (if you ever want to sell it, please give us a call!) The cabin itself is cozy, comfortable and cute, and worked very well for us. The only improvement I might suggest was that with my aging eyes, I had difficulty reading at night. A brighter lamp would help greatly. We loved the retro kitchen and breakfast nook and enjoyed the whole experience very much. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we made an offer on a house, which is not something we had planned to do during our vacation! Thanks again, and my offer stands on that glider!
