Why the Owner Chose StoweWe didn't, it chose us.
The Unique Benefits at this ApartmentSitting in the living room hearing the church bells then gazing out the window and watching the snow swirl around the steeple. Watching a wedding party enter or leave the church. Stepping out the front door and being in the center of the village and having easy access to all Stowe has to offer. Strolling to Sunset Rock and catching the sunset. Biking the 6-mile recreation path, which is right out the front door. Having the library right out the back door. The walk to the coffee shop in the morning. Catching a Brookie in the river across the street. A fire on a cold night. Going downstairs and having a margarita and Soft Shell Crab Baja Burito at Frida's on a warm early summer evening.
Owner's Map of Stowe
When we spontaneously moved to Stowe in 1998 we weren’t quite sure what was in store for us. It didn’t take long for us to fall in love with the land and the community. We came here to live in a ski town and found that all the seasons were spectacular, especially the summers. After being here for 8 years we had the opportunity to buy an historic building right in the center of the village. During the year of renovating the building we had thought we would just rent the apartments to long term tenants, but after seeing the finished product we felt it would be great to share this beautiful building and location with as many people as we could. Never saw myself as an innkeeper but that’s what we are and loving it.

Pros: * Great location in middle of Stowe with easy walk to anything of interest in town * Good people watching from windows * Fireplace * Black Cap Coffee right across the street * Free permit parking behind building * Clean & modern * Helpful staff in store on first floor during day Our only complaint was low, angled ceilings in upstairs bedrooms (but we are tall).

Jack, 8 years old- Favorite part of the house: comfy couch in front of the fire. Dozing after a long day of skiing. Favorite part of vacation: skiing down the double black diamond, National Maya. Maya, 6 years old- Favorite part of house: brownies hot out of the oven Favorite part of vacation: ski school with -12 degree F 30 mph winds. :) Tough as nails! Frida's was outstanding. The apartment is perfect! Thanks for everything.

What a great place! The views of town are great and we love the clean apartment. A great 40th birthday surprise by my husband. Enjoyed wonderful winter weather and the winter carnival at Stowe where we had some smores by the fire! Took a gondola ride and did some ice skating. Going sledding and to Ben + Jerry's today before we head home. Thanks so much!

We had a lovely Christmas 2009 here at the Butler House. Everything we needed to cook a full Christmas dinner was readily available in the beautifully appointed and well stocked kitchen! When we weren't in the house by the fireplace we skied down Spruce, perused the village of Stowe, attended midnight service at the Community Chapel, shopped the General Store and did some sight seeing Our host, Paul, was very helpful. So if we are ever in Vermont again, we will rest our heels here gladly!

We had a wonderful fall getaway- really enjoyed the Stowe area, as well as this great "home away from home." A terrific apartment! Kept busy with the huge crafts fair, farmers market, hike to a waterfall, Rec Path, day trip to Burlington, Ben and Jerry's, and some relaxing by the fire. We enjoyed Frida's Restaurant, the Blue Moon Cafe, and the Dutch Pancake House. Hope to be back again sometime to experience Stowe during another season!
