"Camp Mac" is a beautiful Adirondack house located on 51 acres next to McCauley Pond in Lake Clear.
The property is very quiet and private and a great place to escape and relax. The house is open in design with a large stone fireplace as a center piece in the living area.
There is a balcony with Adirondack chairs off of the living room which overlooks the pond. One can also venture down by the pond and enjoy the fire pit or your own dock, where you will find a canoe and row boat for your use.
Right outside the door, one can hike or cross-country ski on the many trails that crisscross the property.
It is common place to hear loons in the evening and see beavers swimming in front of the house. You are close to Lake Placid and its many Olympic venues as well as many wilderness areas that are great for hiking or canoeing.
In addition to the house we also rent a cabin on the same property, which sleeps 6 comfortably. The house and cabin make a great place for large family reunions.

We just came home from our stay at Camp Mac. We had a wonderfully peaceful time there. It was quiet & beautiful by the pond (which is like a small lake). We had fires out at the firepit near the water and in the beautiful fireplace in the living room. The kitchen had everything needed to cook a meal, and the master bedroom upstairs had a lovely view of the water. We feel the photos don't do it justice, and recommend it to anyone looking to relax & recharge. Thank you to our hosts for opening your home to us.

After an exhaustive search, my friends and I chose Camp Mac for a week-long getaway. We were a large group of eight adults and five children ranging in age from 2 to 10. It's safe to say the property was perfect for our needs. The setting was beautiful and well removed from civilization, allowing us to feel like we'd truly gotten away from it all. The pond was more of a small lake, and came well-appointed with two canoes and a rowboat, as well as appropriate life jackets, etc. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed to cook meals for our large crowd, and the grounds were beautiful, with plenty of lawn space for the kids to play on, as well as lots of untamed woods. In renting the property, the owners were very easy to deal with--responsive enough without being excessively talkative. While we were at the property, we were asked to direct any issues or questions to a local caretaker, who proved to be extremely responsive and helpful. (We had one small problem with the stereo, which was addressed within an hour of our phone call.) Finally, the property was very well maintained and clean. My one quibble was that there was a fair amount of dust, but I find that's unavoidable with vacation properties. We also took the cabin, which wasn't as luxurious as the main house, but which was certainly adequate. Let's just say it had rustic charm.

Camp Mac was amazing! The perfect place for our Thanksgiving family reunion. The kitchen was completely stocked with all the requirements for a big family meal. Beds, bedding, firewood, all inclusive, only needed our personal clothing. The property is beautiful, very private and quiet. Saranac and Lake Placid Villages close by. We highly recommend Camp Mac and hope to be able to return! Thanks to our hosts Bambi and Tom and to the attentive caretakers Paul and Vicki!
