An extremely peaceful and private getaway with no close neighbors, located away from any traffic noise or roosters!
We are also the home of The Maui Butterfly Farm. We have the only walk in butterfly flight house in the entire State of Hawaii.
We are not open to the public, but only to guests of our vacation rental.
If you are planning to visit with children, please let us know and we will give you your own chrysalis gift or live butterfly to release during your stay.

Our rental is a newly remodeled country house on a private country estate just two miles from the center of Makawao Town and less than 4 miles from the center of Haiku.
Located on the Western drier side of Upcountry Maui- in beautiful Lower Olinda.

We are located the same distance from the beach as Haiku- Haiku you must drive 20/25 minutes West along the highway to access the closest public beach. From Makawao you drive straight down Baldwin Avenue to the closest beach.
Our cottage has a newly remodeled kitchen with waterfall granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, laminate floors. 2 full baths with marble/granite vanities, a Jacuzzi tub in master suite with rainfall shower head and oversized shower in second bathroom. 14 foot vaulted ceilings with redwood trim throughout.
Indoor dining area as well as large covered deck with another dining area for six guests. Plus an outside seating area for your morning breakfast or evening BBQ.
The master suite features a large walk-in closet and brand new California King sized sleigh bed. It also has a single four poster bed tucked away in the loft- perfect for the kids/extra guests.
The whole cottage is fully furnished with brand new hand painted dishes, linens and all new kitchen utensils.
Satellite TV, phone and Wifi internet also featured.
Brand new 40" Sony Bravia (Nov '11) wall mounted flat screen TV with HDTV.
DVD player included with rental.
Large stainless steel gas BBQ for those evening gatherings, large lawn for the kids to play, lawn chairs for sunbathing and relaxing.

If you are looking for somewhere that's a bit quieter and cooler away from the beach then this is a great place to stay. Makawao is located 'upcountry' which basically means farmland but is beautiful and green, very relaxing and away from the crowds. We found the property well kept, the owners Siobhan and Geoff very helpful and nice to get away to somewhere different after a day at the beach. Would highly recommend this property and would have no hesitation in staying again.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We recently spent over 2 weeks at this property and couldn't have chosen a better location. The days were warm and bright, the nights were the perfect temperature- not too warm and a perfect breeze came through the windows. We saw deer in the front yard and heard owls in the neighboring eucalyptus forest. The kids loved it- they provided every beach toy imaginable and there was tons of room for them to run around. The interior of the house was beautifully appointed and we had everything we needed and more. Our last night we had a fabulous barbeque and we can't wait to come back!

We've had a great time! Loved the easy access to Paia and Haleakala. Wonderful snorkel trip with so many whales year around. Enjoyed the fruit from your neighbor's stand, especially the tastiest limes ever. Thanks for providing a great base for our trip. Used the boogie boards nearly every day!

We were very glad that we could stay one night longer than planned so Johan had one more day to recover from back pain. He could not sit for a long time, so we stayed here most of the days. Very relaxing! The bed in the master room is very comfortable and this helps a lot. We loved the shower, the quietness and comfort of the house. This is the sixth house we rented in Hawaii and one of the best! Thanks.

Thank you or rather MAHALO for sharing your cottage with us. It was a great base for our outings to Hana and Maui Ocean Center and Iao Park. You have some great places to eat especially Casanovas and Mamas Fish House. It was a short stay in Maui but having your cottage to come home to each night was special. It's on for a 2 day taste of Kauai before returning to the snows of winter in Alberta, Canada. Mahalo!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We loved the comfy beds and interior of the home. We had everything we needed (and more). We loved the location- easy access to Haleakala and road to Hana. And Makawao- enjoyed Casanova's deli and pizzas. The trees and weather were a nice break from the rest of Maui.
