What a great home!!

This was a great rental! It was perfect for our extended family, which included our grown children and our granddaughter. There was plenty of room for us to stretch out, so that even on our one rainy day, we never felt crowded. This home is comfortable yet classy, and the pictures did not do justice to the style nor the size of the property. The location just inside the Sea Pines gate was perfect for us, and the beach (just a few minutes walk) was terrific. Plus, the owner gave us a great tip on a new place to eat that we loved! All in all, a super time!!

After a very busy summer that involved considerable work-related travel, we needed to unwind and relax. This house did the trick. Hilton Head after Labor Day is a treat. The weather and the ocean is still warm but there are no crowds to make you grumpy. Our biggest complaint was that we could have used another week here. The house was spacious and allowed us to spread out; I read 2 books. Without a care in the world, this house fit the bill. It was very clean and it looked to us that the owner's had paid attention to details; even leaving chairs in the carport that we could take to the beach. We did have one minor problem when one of the bathroom faucets would not stop dripping, but a phone call to the local property manager had that problem resolved in short order. Even our basset hound (Baxter) gave this house TWO PAWS UP!!
Owner response:We often suggest that prospective renters consider a stay after Labor Day when the crowds have gone for the busy season. We appreciated your comments and we try hard to make this an enjoyable, carefree destination for all of our guests; regardless of the number of legs they may have.

We heard about this house from friends who have stayed here a few times. We had plenty of room for 6 adults, 4 kids and our dog. The house was clean, comfortable, well-equipped and close to just about everything we love about Hilton Head. My 2 high-school aged kids loved the WI-FI system where they could email their friends without having us looking over their shoulders. Even on a rainy day there were things to do without crowding other people. Finding a pet-friendly house so close to the beach was a great find; we used to hate having to put our dog into a kennel so we could go on vacation; now she gets to join us. We'll be back. Highly recommended.

SUPER FAMILY VACATION HOUSE

This is a great house for extended family vacations. We have previously rented this house 3 times and always thoroughly enjoy ourselves every time we are here. My husband and I rented the house this time to get away for a week with our son, his wife, our grandson and our golden retriever. The house was clean, comfortable and, with its open floor-plan offered plenty of room for everyone. And, since I enjoy cooking, I appreciated that the kitchen was equipped with everything I needed for those times we decided to eat at home. When we were not relaxing on the deck or cooling off in the pool, the beach was only a short 5 minute walk from the house and the restaurants and activities we love on the island we also just minutes away. BE CAREFUL THOUGH, DON’T LET YOUR DOG RUN FREE; MUST BE ON A LEASH. OURS ALMOST GOT BUSTED. We are already thinking about our 2012 visit.

My husband I rented the house for his family reunion; we were able to very comfortably sleep 6 adults and 4 children, plus 2 babies. The house was perfect for our needs; we wanted to be close to the beach (less than 3 minute walk to the beach) but also enjoy easy access to the golf courses, tennis courts, bike rentals and Harbor town. The children loved sleeping in the upstairs loft space. We spent our mornings at the beach and our afternoons enjoying the pool and deck, both a great space for entertaining and lounging. The kitchen was filled with all of the essentials we needed to cook each night. Over the course of the week we stayed at the house, we enjoyed 3 movies in the great room on the extremely comfortable couches. The house was stocked with games and movies, each bedroom featuring a VCR for our enjoyment. The house was impeccably clean and had lovely linens in each bedroom. With 11 people, we were worried that the house would feel crowded, but the gracious space each level and room offered, we have plenty of space and cannot wait to come back. We would highly recommend this house for the price, location, and interiors.

We spent a very enjoyable week (end of September) at the house with our dogs + 3 other couples. We would definitely recommend the house and plan to return next year. The house is perfect for entertaining -- almost the entire first floor is open plan making for a great beach house experience. The house is bigger than we expected from looking at the pictures. The very large kitchen fridge was especially nice. The beach is a short (about 5 minute) walk and is extremely dog friendly. Note that the rules for dogs vary based on time of year (and are more liberal before Memorial Day and after Labor Day).. Given the rental price and location in Sea Pines, this is has to be one of the best rental deals on the island. Yes the house is an older contemporary and a little dated, and some of the furniture and carpet have seen better days, but it is, after all, a pet friendly beach house -- one of the few we found in Sea Pines.

Dirty and in disrepair

The last couple days of our vacation had a lot of roaches in the house. Made it very stressful after paying several thousand dollars, not to mention the lack of sleep from worrying about them crawling up the beds. I had my kids sleep on the couch because a lot of them were on the third floor Although your home has potential we will never come back to rent yours, even though we loved Hilton Head. We never heard from Island Getaways about re-cleaning the house either. The second to last night the propane ran out. Combine all of that with the several hours it took for us to be on the phone with the cable company, and I'm supremely disappointed. If you haven't been to the house recently, I suggest you go check out the shape it's in. There are ledges so dusty they literally have hair on them. The walls in the master bedroom are coated in dust that hangs off the wallpaper. I took 5 children and the house was in better shape when we left because I cleaned so much -- not part of my vacation plan. We drove 13 hours to a dirty house in disrepair. Part of the deck railing is broken, there were dead roaches behind the couch cushions on the porch, the trash bin fell out every time we threw something away, the laundry room was atrocious, when someone took a shower it poured in the garage (that's ridiculous) -- I could go on, but you get the idea. We're just really glad we loved the area because that kept it from being the absolute worst vacation on record. As a single mom, I saved for a year to take my kids on this vacation. We planned for months for our getaway and I don't feel as the homeowner you did your part. The damage done in this home has been more than just recent occurrences. It's neglect. I hope you have a chance to inspect the home because I don't think it would pass any sort of inspection by anyone with code authority. I hope another family doesn't have to go through this.
Owner response:Our primary priority is that all of our guests have an enjoyable, problem-free stay. It is still inevitable that occasionally some things do go amiss. These guests informed us that the house had not been thoroughly cleaned prior to their arrival, as was expected. We contacted our local property managers for them to arrange for housekeeping staff to re-clean as needed. Our property managers tried unsuccessfully numerous times to reach them by phone. They do this so that guests are not inconvenienced. Being unable to reach them, unknown to us, the re-clean never occurred. Our property managers, who typically have done a good job, have been admonished for their own lack of proper oversight in the first place, which we agree was entirely unacceptable. The guest also complained that there was a leak in the master bath shower – this turned out to be a grout repair and not an actual leaking water pipe; taken care of. A couple of the cable TV boxes in bedrooms were temporarily out of service. We fully understand the frustration that comes from these sorts of service outages; while we sympathize, those outages clearly were beyond any reasonable control of ours. Two issues only became known to us for first time in a note we received after they returned home. 1. Insects were observed during the last few days of their stay. We contacted our exterminator on the island who explained that, because of the extreme drought conditions existing this summer, insects have been coming up out of the ground in search of water. They are hearing similar complaints all over the island. They have assured us that everything that reasonably should be done to minimize this problem is being done. Nevertheless, we have increased the frequency of insect treatments as an added precaution. 2. Broken railing on deck – repaired literally the same day we first learned about it from them. We have repeat renters that come back year after year. Another recent group that stayed at the house for the first time only a short time before these guests arrived have re-booked the house for their same week in 2012. Would they have done so if their experiences were the same as described in this guest’s review? All guest comments are taken seriously. Virtually all of the other unsolicited guest reviews on our web-page have been positive and complimentary. This is a place for families. What a wonderful house it is. It is surprising when arriving and seeing the house in person how understated it is in the website pictures! The open design lends itself to gathering together. Very comfortable, lovely and enjoyable. A great pool and porch, outdoor shower and lots of parking, too. Our family had a dream vacation there and we plan to return!
Owner response:Thank you very much for your nice review of our house. We try hard to make it an enjoyable experience for our guests and are thrilled that you and your family enjoyed yourselves while there. We hope that you will consider it again in future.

Another wonderful vacation at y'alls house. Thanks very much. The weather was beautiful! The kids had a great time! (see below a pics of the castle they built that was the talk of the beach. :o) It lasted for days because they built it above the high tide line. ) Pool service was not great-- we had to call as they did not come on Wednesday as scheduled. Otherwise, everything is looking good. Just thought I would let you know that we broke a glass. :o( And that if you ever decide to change your decor in the bar area, I would love to buy your shore birds from you. Thanks again. We may not be able to rent your house next year but we hope to the year after.
