Our large group of family & friends experienced a wonderful Christmas week at Merry Canyon Lodge. The outstanding accommodations and plentiful snow helped make it a trip our family will always remember. The property came "as advertised" here on the HomeAway page. Some highlights: - The big, very nice kitchen and amazing large dining table were just so fun and wonderful. Easily accommodated all the adults and kids who were busy in that area all week long. The windows that surround this area looking into the front yard area gave us a lovely perpetual view of the snow on the ground and the snow that fell from time to time. Such nice scenery to be surrounded by. - The large fireplace made for a very nice wintery atmosphere. Loved it. - Sitting around the outdoor fire pit with the bonfire leaping into the crystal-clear frozen air, in two feet + of snow, with the full moon rising above the trees . . . are we in a movie? ;) - All beds were reported to be comfortable and the rooms in general were very clean. - So nice to have so many snow play options for the kids on the property; by the end of the week we had developed several sled runs of varying degrees of difficulty! Julie was good to work with and even took time out of her own Christmas week to work through a few things with us. On behalf of all the 34 guests who were present at one time or another over the course of the week, thanks for a really nice experience.

This lodge a big, beautiful and well located. About a 15-20 min. drive into town, you are tucked back away from everyone and we felt very secluded. We had 4 adults and 5 kids and we never ran into each other. Plenty of beds, a huge kitchen/eating area, big front yard great for sledding, hot tub on the deck. However, we a cleaning fee was included in the charges and were told we had to clean the kitchen, the cleaning crew would not clean it. Not knowing who had stayed there before us, we did some preliminary cleaning before we even got started. We've stayed in a lot of places and have never had to do more than run the dishwasher and take all of our food. The towels in the kitchen are old and stained and the cupboards all need a good washing out. There is lots of spilled dry goods, spices, etc. We were able to run the dishwasher once before we ran out of detergent and there was no back up. We bought more at the store and Julie, the owner, told us we would be reimbursed. The hot tub was not working when we got there. But Julie called us upon our arrival to let us know a repairman was on his way. He could not get it fixed until end of day the next day so we lost 24 hours of tubbing. Our master bedroom hamper was full to the brim with the previous renters towels. The upstairs master bedroom heat did not work. We were also asked to strip all of our beds before we left. There is a small flat screen TV in the living room but having one more in one of the bedrooms would be nice to provide options. The attached DVD player did not work, however, the TV had a built-in DVD player that did. There are lots of great things about this lodge and I would definitely come back if all of these things were changed.

A group of 17 adults rented this lodge for the weekend for my Fiances 27th birthday; everyone fell in love once they walked through the door. From Friday-Sunday there was still stuff to do; hot tubbing, sledding, poker, relaxing, cooking in the amazing kitchen, the list goes on. Once we sang happy birthday, people were saying same time; same place next year :) we will definitely be back sooner than next year! I have been doing this every year, different locations for the past 4 years and by far Julie was the easiest to work with. Thanks again for making everything so easy, I look forward to working with you again in the near future.

Our family stayed at this lodge for Thanksgiving and it was incredible. The lodge is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. And the location of the home just put the icing on the cake. It's very private and surrounded by hills and beautiful pine trees. Furthermore, it was nicely located to the Leavenworth village, just about 20 minutes away. The only caution I would have for people, especially families with kids, is that there is no cable for television, so bring a ton of movies! Last, but certainly not least, I have to say it was a pleasure dealing with the owner, Julie. She was very nice and I found her to be very responsive. In summary, we had a fantastic time and hope to go there again next year!

This was a week away for our whole family....kids and grandkids. My adult son said "Mom...I have to give you props.... this is a wonderful place for the whole family...something for everyone!" The lodge was fantastic and from the moment we walked in the door we knew we had made a good choice. Everything is well maintained, clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning, but even though we were there on warm days, it stayed very comfortable inside. The hot tub was a hit and our family photos in front of the giant fireplace are a treasure to us. Julie, the lodge owner was very helpful and encouraged us to contact her if we had questions or concerns. I am quite sure we will be returning to Merry Canyon Lodge in the future.

We found the house clean and ready to move right in - and being welcomed by the fresh-cut wildflowers on the table was a nice touch. It was an excellent place to house our 16-person, week-long family gathering. It isn't located too far from Leavenworth (12 miles), and not too close either. It is situated near the end of a dirt road which gets very little traffic. A neighbor did pass by, though, and stopped to instruct us to put out the fire we had started in the outdoor fire pit.. he was afraid of a stray spark lighting the forests, so we complied. The bunk house was great for the boys, and they had their own bathroom. Another bathroom is located on the side deck next to the hot tub, but I don't think it got used - there are 3 more bathrooms inside the main house. The living room is huge, and great for playing family games - the closet near the front door is stocked with games. There is also a large bookcase of books that came in handy. The round kitchen table with the lazy susan was perfect for our family meals and readings. We all found the hot tub great to soak in every night. There were plenty of towels available, and spares for those trips to the lakes. There is a laundry room was useful for drying wet articles of clothing, and cleaning the dirty ones. We did discover that the satellite internet has a tiny 250Mb/day download limit - keep that in mind if you are unable to connect to do some work because someone else has already exhausted the daily limit by streaming video. The library in Leavenworth has free, fast (4.5Mb/s) internet for such moments of need. The owner responded very helpfully and promptly to all queries. Thanks Julie, it was a fantastic week!

We are 15 people altogether. We found Merry Canyon Lodge to be a great summer gathering spot for our family. We did different things during the day, then gathered to talk about our day, working together to prepare our meals. During the days, we hiked, went river rafting, horesback riding, shopping. One day we went to Chelan to the waterpark; the children barely stayed awake through dinner. Some went for a solitary hike, some stayed at the lodge with a good book. The kitchen is great. The Viking stove is fun to cook on Two full-size fridges. The knives were even sharp. The hot tub was a big hit. Our stay at the lodge gave us time to catch up with each other and spend some valuable down time together.

This was my second time staying at this property, and I cannot say enough good things about it. The place is huge with more than adequate room to house and entertain a full house. The kitchen, dining room table, and hot tub are all huge. I will definitely stay there again!

We stayed over the New Years at the Merry Canyon Lodge. It was a group of 18 of us ranging from 22 to 32 years old. The overall feedback I received from the group was that it was an awesome experience and everyone had a great time. The Good: - Dining table - Size of kitchen and cooking utensils available - The fireplace - The firepit outside - The little sledding hill on the side of the house (that produced a lot of fun/laughs/memories just by itself) - The snow - The super comfy couch - The hot tub - The Things That Could have been Better: - The bbq grill...most of the knobs were broken off and it took a small army to figure out how to get it working - The small TV ..yes we shouldn't be watching tv in a lodge like this but we like our group video games. Fortunately we read about this in another review and brought our own projector and speakers and just used a spare bed sheet as the screen (good enough). - The toilets were troublesome - The internet access is okay if you have maybe only 1 or 2 people on it at a time... you get a group like ours (I think we had maybe 8 laptops) all trying to use the satellite internet at the same time...it wouldn't work too well. Our first impression of the lodge was WHOAH! ...this is gonna be AN AWESOME time. And we left with pretty much the same impression. The running toilet was probably the only really annoying thing... we had some trouble with the thermostat but I think the people in those rooms eventually figured it out. The couch was one of the most comfortable couches any of us have experienced. People who had beds to sleep in opted to sleep on the couch by the fire. We didn't use the wood stove ever so don't know if that leaves a smokey smell, but that would have been cool if it did. Overall we all really had a great time. The owners are very easy to work with. We were able to order firewood ahead of time and that was one of the best ideas! The lit tree in front was an awesome touch. Oh...someone even plowed the driveway one morning! To the owners ... perhaps fix/update the manual that was at the lodge..the binder was falling apart and did finally compltely fall apart. Some info seemed to be out dated in there as well....it talked about snowmobiles ...??? Bottom line ...all 18 of us had an awesome vacation that we still are all talking about a month later.

We had booked this property (bunkhouse included) for a family reunion. There were 24 of us ranging in age from 7 to 80. From first entering the main house, it stunk of smoked meat. And was freezing cold. We knew we were going to have to turn on the thermastat, but upon arrival, the house's inside temperature was a mere 45 degrees. Still doable...but the heating system was either blazing hot, or freezing cold throughout the entire stay. We also had 1 of the 3 toilets(inside the home) that didn't work. It ran, and ran, and flowed over several times. A major drawback when you have this number of people. The towels provided were tattered and many were bleach stained, again, not that expensive to replace. The place was filthy. The couches were covered in the animal hair from the skins that hang from the rails above the living room. We couldn't believe the filth under the couch cushions and were embarrassed when we slid the couches back to retrieve a kid's toy, and we swept up a pile of filth the size of a pie plate. There was a flip flop there, several toys and lego type things. Are you kidding me? I even took a picture in case someone needed proof. The non refundable cleaning fee, and the crew (which we saw consisted of 1 lady & a couple of elementry aged kids) can't even slide the couches back to vacumn. The washer and dryer were filthy as well. They were caked with laundry soap powder & grit. Tops weren't even wiped off. Kitchen: Bring your own dishes. The majority of the plates were chipped. Not just small dings, but BIG chips. Dishes are not that expensive, and they would have been easy to replace. LOVED the dual refrigerators though, but disappointed in the single oven. Cheap cheap vinyl floors. Had such a bad feel to it for what it could have been given spending a couple of extra bucks. LOVED the big beautiful fire place. LOVED the big beautiful custom table. Upstairs, all the beds had filthy carpets under them. Doubt they EVER get cleaned. Hard to stay when one of the guests has asthma and allergies. This is a great location, and would benefit greatly with some maintenance & deep knee cleaning. Bunk house: Again the place was either burning hot, or freezing cold. Air circulation was poor and hard for the college age kids to even get a good night's sleep. Hate to leave such a bad review. The owners are nice people, but this is a lot of money to spend and to get what we got. I would even offer to clean it for what that cleaning fee was.

Owner response: We learned several good lessons from this - one and only - negative review. First and foremost, our lodge is setup to accomodate 17 people. While 2-3 kids can be squeezed in, a group of 24 simply overtaxed our facilities. Whether it be places to sleep, towels, dishes, chairs or our septic system, that was just too many. Add to the mix, solid bookings throughout our first holiday season, we must admit that our deep cleaning suffered. That has been completely corrected. We also replaced the dishes that were chipped and replenished our towels. However, we like the smell of our woodstove and fireplace. It's a mountain lodge! Further, we found the thermostats in every room to work perfectly for anyone familiar with electric heat or who takes time to read the instructions.
