We stayed at the Villa St. Tropez over Memorial Day weekend and the first week of June. Our group included my parents (who stayed in the guesthouse), my husband and my two 3 year olds. The house was the perfect set up for our group. The pool was a great size and the perfect temperature. The house is just as pictured in the photos and its only a quick, shady 2 block walk to the beach. There is a beach access pathway just at the end of that two block walk. Everything in Seaside is a 3 minute bike ride away. Perfect location because you get the relaxing more remote feeling of being away from it all because you are "outside" of Seaside proper but you have Seaside amenities right outside your door. I would like to commend Cole, the house manager, who rescued my bag which my husband left behind and was kind enough to federal express it to me!!! Thank goodness for Cole! He was helpful throughout our stay and quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Only downsides of the house: two of the bedrooms (the master and another bedroom) have little to no window shades. This made it difficult to get one of our 3 year olds to sleep in in the mornings or nap in. Also, I'd note the bedroom that did have window shades had a very very high bed (adult waist level) which made it not user friendly for small children. Luckily my kiddos are happy on the floor too. I would recommend this house to a friend and am looking forward to planning our next vacation there.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much Heather for your comments. We had shades last Spring and they were removed. I will arrange to have them put back up and I appreciate your comments regarding the Villa. I will also address the bed height with housekeeping and arrange to correct this as well. We only get better when we hear from our vacationer's. Thank you and please come back and enjoy another week with your family at Villa ST. Tropez. Have a wonderful summer! Victoria & Morten Hvitved

You aren't exactly on the brick laid streets of Seaside, but you are still close enough to enjoy all Seaside has to offer. You are just a couple of blocks away from the beach and 5 to 6 blocks away from the main square in Seaside. Our family rented a golf cart and had no problem getting around during our entire vacation. Villa Saint Tropez is exactly as the pictures portray it to be. It is gorgeous and sleek. The property is more modern and upscale than the bungalows that line the streets in Seaside. The small pool is a plus! Our family enjoyed hanging out under the porch enjoying the cool nights. The property was clean and inviting when we got there. I would recommend Villa Saint Tropez. We will stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

I can not say enough wonderful things about our trip to Villa St. Tropez. This was our third trip to this wonderful location and each visit makes it harder to leave coming back to Colorado. The enchantment of the home and its location gives you that warm nestled in privacy from sun bleached walls and surrounding trees. Topped off with the beautiful white sugar sand beaches a short walk down the canopy tree dirt road It our very own paradise for the week. Watching the sunsets from the gazebo's and nearby restaurants was a fantastic treat and the local flavor friendly. Even with the stormy weather our vacation was superb and our hosts Victoria and Morten are such an elegant couple making sure our trip was carefree. Thank you so much for sharing your home with my family, we look forward to seeing you again next year. All the best EdwardRecommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

After 15 great VRBO stays we were due for a bad one, just didn't expect it this bad. First, we show up to find that the property mngr was fired that very day with no contact person left for us. The house was in disrepair and dirty (to quote my wife: gross), the front door handle fell off when we first opened it and the master bathroom door had been completely torn off. After getting in touch with the owner she sent the new manager over. His reply was that work needed to be done and that the place wasn't worth the money. Some consolation. We then go into the guest house and hear the fire alarm beeping constantly. He changes the battery which doesn't stop the beeping. He apologizes and says that the alarm must be faulty and tears it out. BTW, the guest house and the main house bedrooms have limited curtains. Fine if you are a couple but not if you are traveling with your 2 small children, MIL and nanny and want some privacy. Remember there is no bathroom door either (it was like a 1970's hippie commune). The next morning I realize that the wifi doesn't work. I call the new manager who tells me he no longer works for the property (he quit after 1 day he said due to issues with the owner). I finally reach the owner who tells me she doesn't know the wifi code but asked if could I stay around the house for the day because workers were coming by to fix some of the house issues. That night my wife and I stayed up late and realized one of the entertainment apects of the house...watching cockroaches. They were everywhere inside and out. We started timing how fast it would take for a cockroach to come out if you put a cracker on the floor and stepped away. 2 days later, the owner calls with the wifi code but asks if I can stay by the house again for some more repair work. All this time we have not been using the guest house (even though we paid extra for it) in part b/c the smoke detector was removed and in part b/c the lack of curtains. The next day I walk into the guest house and see that the mattress is soaked and water is dripping from the ceiling. The a/c pan overflowed (glad I hadn't been sleeping there). I call the owner, she apologizes and asks me to wait for the a/c repair guy. She paid for a family dinner. She was always very nice, but I had enough. My vacation was ruined. I asked for a refund on the guest house. 3 months later, no refund, no return call (5 attempts) & insult to injury no security deposit refund. If it was worth the effort, I'd sue.Owner response: This review comes nearly four months after your stay at Villa St. Tropez. It seems unreasonable to us that you would not have written us during your stay or directly after. Reading this email it appears you have another agenda asking for several reimbursements, comp's during your stay. etc. When you arrived we did have a problem with the guest house smoke alarm. We are a Sat-Sat rental and we have only five hours between renter's to repair and correct items on property so not to bother guest's during their vacation. The smoke alarm batteries needed to be replaced. When pulling out a smoke detector from the ceiling it will keep beeping. Promptly our onsite Maintenance (Sheila) came to the Villa with our Property Manager to fix this. We offered you and your family and Nanny free beach chairs and umbrella set up for the week for your inconvenience. The problem was corrected within the hour and you were happy. No word of any problems with pests or door handle missing. Since Villa St. Tropez has it's own maintenance repair person we would want all guests to contact us ASAP to correct anything during their stay. In fact you and your family were very happy all week long except that you arrived to a week of rain and this is truly what upset you. Your last night stay we had received word from housekeeping that the water heater pan had began to drip from the ceiling in the guest house. Again two maintenance companies including our own were on property within the hour. We even purchased all new mattresses for the guest house which arrived within the hour as well. We fixed the situation and offered your family and nanny a $250 dinner voucher to enjoy George's on 30A. You graciously excepted and seemed to be very happy again with our promptness. Villa St. Tropez is not the Four Season's but a Paradise Estate on the beach that prides itself on being one of the most beautiful homes in the area...not a Hippie Commune that you have chosen to call the Villa. Your expectations I believe were very unreasonable and I would suggest you might want to stay at a full service hotel with your Nanny and wife on your next holiday. Your review is malicious in content and truly not suitable for public forum in our opinion.

It has been my absolute pleasure to stay at this amazing Villa several times! I wouldn't even consider going to the Emerald Beaches of the Florida Panhandle and stay anywhere else!!! Idyllic doesn't even begin to describe the privacy and European atmosphere of Villa St. Tropez! Upon my arrival not only was the property pristine, but so welcoming! I came alone this time and was concerned that I might be jittery being so...I could not have been more wrong! I not only felt safe and secure but very peaceful! I walked in to a great bicycle that the owner had a company leave for me with a hand written note from the owner of that company and his cell number in case I didn't care for that particular model and wanted something different! There were fresh, fluffy white towels and 5 star restaurant quality accoutrements in the kitchen! There was even a wonderful kitty cat, who by the note left for me was named Bob! I have kitties and this was so very welcome! Bob even came in and slept with me...but only because I tempted him with treats! He's a real sweetie! I would definitely recommend Villa St. Tropez to ANYONE!!! I would also recommend the following: Riding your bike(s) down 30A through Alyse and Rosemary Beaches! Great ride, great restaurants, great shopping! Also, on bicycle, ride around Watercolor and to the Starbucks in Grayton Beach! I also REALLY LOVE the breakfast at Great Southern in Seaside! Their Smoked Gouda cheese grits are off the charts!!! Of course a local "can't miss" is the sunset at Bud and Ally's, where every night there is a pool on the exact time of the sunset! My personal favorite is to grab your favorite person, in my case my hubby, a great bottle of wine and walk the couple of short blocks through tree lined gravel streets to the beach for the sunset...perfection!!! I was proposed to by my hubby on one of our trips there, at sunset, in one of the many beautiful beachside pavilions! As Mrs. Nevada International I am on the road often. In fact this particular trip I was to be in Alabama...but I just had to drop in to Villa St. Tropez for a couple of day of perfect R&R! I have absolutely NO complaints!!! Do yourself a huge favor and don't miss this!!! It is truly Heaven on Earth!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Thank you for the privilege of staying in Villa St Tropez! We have traveled many places, but absolutely fell in love with Seaside. This property has it all! A beautiful wooded lot, spa like feel, great layout, high end kitchen and baths, and luxurious furnishings. Exit through the grand gate and you are within minutes of walking distance to the beach and middle of Seaside. The owner was professional, extremely helpful, and a delight. An absolute perfect vacation for our family. We will recommend Villa St Tropez to all our friends!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Our entire family (2 grandchildren), 2 adult children and us (Grandparents) enjoyed a wonderful week at Villa Saint Tropez. The owners were the most informative, friendly people. The site doesn't do the house justice, it was everything and more that is featured. We enjoyed the beautiful stroll down tree covered lanes to the Beach and to Town. With the lovely, open, modern kitchen, we ate most of our meals at the house. Although many fine restaurants are just a golf cart ride away. My husband is ready to return today, despite the 100 degree weather at this time. Thank you Victoria for a memorable stay at your lovely home. Your prompt attention to any questions we had made this an easy choice of us.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My family and I had a wonderful June week this year. We would definitely go back and have in fact planned a spring vacation there. The owner was most responsive to our needs and concerns and made us feel like we were special guests. The home is beautiful and the pool house was just what we needed for our rather large family. We found the location quite central and enjoyed riding the golf cart to most places in the area. We bought seafood from a local store and grilled most nights. Truly delicious. Thanks again Victoria, and we look forward to seeing you in the near future. MargaretRecommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My family and our best friends had a wonderful vacation and enjoyed staying at Villa St. Tropez. The property is pretty and relaxing at the same time. After busy days we enjoyed quite evenings floating in the large spa and grilling on the deck. I highly recommend purchasing fresh fish down the street from Goatfeathers and grilling it up at the Villa. I personally enjoyed early morning walks to the beach down the quiet roads. We loved how secluded the property is even though the beach and all activities are just a few blocks away. As first time visitors we enjoyed the areas Victoria recommended for meals and also enjoyed exploring the beautiful coast and participating in many activities. We will definetely be back. Thank you for sharing your home.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

SAVE YOURSELF ~ DO NOT RENT

We are frequent travelers and we rent luxury properties through VBRO often. Villa St. Tropez should not be described, as “luxurious”, “majestic” or “romantic” and the photos online are very deceiving. The home is un-kept, smells like smoke and is lived in full time when not being rented. The décor in the home is not what is shown in the photos. The walls need painting, the linens should be updated and the landscaping needs to be tended to. The master bathroom door is missing, the outdoor sun umbrella has been jimmied with duck tape, the sink in one of the guest bathrooms has a slow drain, the cooking utensils are poor and the cabinets are very disorganized. The outdoor shower area looks like it is being used as a storage shed and the “pool” is the size of a large Jacuzzi. A short four days before our arrival, we were told that we could not use the guesthouse due to a “fire from a previous renter’s cigarette”. While we tried to be sympathetic to the situation, we needed the extra space for sleeping adults and had hoped for a partial refund in rent for the trouble. The use of the guesthouse was the sole reason why we chose to rent the property in the first place. A refund was denied as well as the option to be released from our contract without penalty to find a more suitable home. The owners “solution” was to place a cot in the main house for the extra adult we had in our party (this was our annual family vacation, NOT a camping trip)! The homeowners treated us poorly and I would not recommend this rental to anyone. Save yourself and your vacation by renting a different home!Recommended for: Tourists without a car.
Owner response: This is one of those rare situations where VRBO homeowners should be aware of who you rent your valuable homes to. This renter is close to what I will call a con-artist! When we sent the contract to the renter he kept changing his mind and held us up for such a long time that we had to agree to a major discount which is very unusual for a Villa in this standard and location. It was to late to find other vacation renter's and he kept telling us that now because of the economy he could not afford the property. He only had so much money that he got from his father for a Christmas gift etc. etc. We felt sorry for the family and agreed to this last minute major discount. His deposit as well as his final payment came in to late and when he arrived he was suppose to bring final payment which our staff was collecting before he was given the keys. This is not normal since he was suppose to pay final payment 14 days prior to arrival! He took the keys from our staff and would not give her the final payment. We had to call the sheriffs department to have him pay his final or leave the property. When the sherif came he kept saying that he was suppose to have the guest house meanwhile he never had a contract that said the guest house was included, just that we promised him there was nobody staying in the guest house while he occupied the property. At this time we also gave him the keys to the golf cart and did not charge a fee. ($ 450/week) This is what you get for being to nice and loose on your terms. Unfortunately these type of renter's are the ones that take advantage of you being gracious , maybe we should have some type of credit check or screening process for the future or maybe an idea for VRBO that we also can make reviews on renter's!! Unfortunately these type of renters are why there is no more room to be large and understanding.......very very sad. A sad and hurt homeowner :(
