Wind Rider Lodge is a large 5-bedroom handcrafted mountain cabin sitting on the point of a private mountain ridge. This gives you a panoramic mountain view from every room. Wind Rider is filled with log furniture and antiques. The large wrap around porch has a hot tub to enjoy while watching the fireflies play among the many trees. Includes: Washer/Dryer, 26' x 30' open area, all log furniture & antiques, DVD - DISH network, phone, log staircase.
Townsend is the Peaceful Side of the Smokies and has a lot to offer. There is The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Tuckaleechee Caverns, Little River, Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center Museum, Little River Railroad Museum and Music Festivals. Townsend is a small mountain town with a lot of history and activities to explore. There is hiking, fishing, swimming, tubing, biking, horseback riding and yet it is close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. So you are close to all the activities or you can relax in a seclude mountain cabin and just enjoy the mountain views. We have it all.
Cabin history: Blue Smoke Mountain Cabins are located 3.4 miles from Townsend and 5 miles from The Great Smoky Mountain Park and 17 miles from Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. There are only four cabins and our home on the mountain so each cabin is secluded with its own private mountain view. Our cabins are handcrafted and equipped with everything you will need to feel at home. We like to call it roughing it easy. We are family owned and operated. We are open year round.
The wildlife: We have done our best to preserve the wild beauty we found here. We have all manner of wildlife that roam our mountain and call Blue Smoke Mountain their home. The birds will sing to you all day and the crickets will lull you to sleep at night. You really don't want to miss the firefly show each night. These mountains surely have it all.

Runaway was the perfect cabin for our weekend getaway. We loved the cabin with all the bedrooms and the decks. We especially liked sitting out in the chairs on the deck in the mornings taking in the view of the mountains. Very quiet area with nice shopping and restaurants close by. We would love to go back to runaway again.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We stayed here for three nights of our 10 day motorcycle trip. The view is unbelievable. The cabin clean and new looking. Well stocked kitchen and grill. The owners live right there and were very friendly. The only negative is that it is really a 2 bedroom cabin. It has 5 beds but 2 are in common areas and the third is in a room that is just larger than the bed. Only kids would fit in this room. We had four couples so it worked fine, just no privacy for the two couples in the common areas. The other watch out is the drive up to the cabin. We are experienced motorcycle riders but it scared us. Very steep gravel road. However, the bottom line is that the stay here was the highlight of our trip. We would do it again, but stay here longer.
