This was a wonderful weekend getaway! We loved the cabin, the hot tub, everything! It was a perfect place to get away and relax. Saw a mother moose and her two babies on the way in and a few mule deer thoughout the weekend. Plus heard the coyotes howling at night! We will definitely be back!

This was our first trip to this area of Colorado and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. The area is beautiful, the property was secluded and the home was clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. The hot tub was wonderful! We brought our two dogs and they absolutely loved roaming the area. A big plus is that a fishing lake is within view and the property backs to the National Forest. This is an exceptional property if you have dogs/horses. Basecamp was a wonderful place to eat breakfast and lunch. However, we were disappointed in Beaver Meadows. Twice they did not have what we wanted to order so we ended up leaving. Most meals were cooked at the house as the kitchen was well stocked with utencils (would recommend going through some of the outdated staples that are in the cabinets). The town of Red Feather Lakes is quite charming and has a couple small grocery stores which for the size have a good selection. One even has a small ice cream shop and all have souveniers to purchase. My husband only fished the lakes within Crystal Lakes once as the daily fee is quite high. I would recommend Creedmore Lakes and Bellaire Lake for fishing. Both are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for a property in which to rejuvenate and relax! It was well worth the trip and I would recommend this property to anyone. PS...if you are ever looking for ways to enchance this wonderful home, wireless access and a washer and dryer would be great! When you stay for a week it's a nice touch to stay in contact with the outside world and not have to pack so much.
Owner response:Hi Margaret, Thank you for the nice review and we are pleased that you enjoyed our property and the surroundings which we too think are incredible. Yes, the lakes in the area are great for fishing, regardless if you fish in Crystal Lakes for the daily charge which is on the low end for private lakes in Colorado, or choose the many other public lakes in the area. Bellaire Lake and Creedmore Lake are beautiful. We had hoped that wireless would be available in our area by now but that is still not the case --hopefully by next year according to Satellite. However, the dial up is much faster than most would think! Most of the restaurants in town and the library all have wireless. Because we are on a septic system, a washer/dryer is not available for our guests however, Basecamp at Crystal Lakes does have a small laundromat for those that choose to do laundry. We will check out the renters staples cabinet per your heads up! Again, we are so very happy that you enjoyed our home and encourage you to return to Colorado and to Creekside. Kind regards and thank you for staying at Creekside Corral. Mary and Bill Cook

The house was as lovely as advertised and humans and horses were very comfortable! The hot tub sure felt good after a day of riding. Such a pretty setting -- we were disappointed that we did not spot any moose, but we're not giving up!!! Thank you for making your home available!

We had such a fun time in the wonderful home! My family had lots of reasons to be happy. Our trip here was a celebration of my husband's 59th birthday, our oldest daughter & son in law's 5 month old baby and our youngest daughter's engagement! Your lovely home provided such a comfortable setting for us all to be together. Thank you for making it available to those of us that dream of a getaway like this.

Wat a wonderlike park!!! As visitors from South Africa, a vacation with my brother and his family, we've really been amazed by the beauty that is Colorado. The bluest at the skies, bushy pines, clear mountain lakes and streams....wonderful!!! We also learned about the history of Colorado and the many hardy men and women who helped make this the great place it is today. We definitely hope to visit Colorado again and thank you for making us welcome in your comfortable home.

This is such a beautiful place you have here! It's very spacious and comfortable, especially the hot tub! Our family really enjoyed Colorado and all th sites to see. On our way home from fishing we saw six moose. We never knew ho much beauty these mountains had. The only negative thing about these mountains is no signal! But that's us teenagers for you lol. Thank you for letting us spend the week here, it was an absolutely amazing getaway.

What a lovely mountain getaway you have here! It is so beautiflly decoraged and is stocked with everything we could ever need and then some. We put see in the feeders as well as hanging out the hummingbird feeder. What a pleasure it has been wtching the two varities of humingbirds (Rufous & Broad-tailed) feed. The Stellar Jays and Mountain Chickadees also graced us with their visits. You now have the best fed ground squirrels and chipmunks too: On day trips to various places we got to see our moose (6 in total). We saw deer coming in off the main road. We were hoping to see a black bear somewhere in our travels but didn't. It doesn't matter, we just enjoyed all of the beauty of nature this area and state holds. Thank you again for having this wonderful relaxing (can't forget the hot tub) retreat!

Thank you for the beautiful accommodations! We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the area. The hot tub was great after a day of hiking and horseback riding! We saw two moose in the area while driving and another while horseback riding at Beaver Meadows. The house was awesome, very clean and well stocked. The house is very remote and private for those looking for a quiet getaway. I would highly recommend Creedmore Lakes for fishing and hiking. It is a short drive from the property. We hope to visit again soon.
Owner response:Thank you Marcia and Laura and family. It was a pleasure sharing Creekside Corral with you. We are glad you were able to experience all the things we cherish about our house. Yes, that hot tub does feel pretty darn good after a ride or hike and the views are pretty spectacular, especially at night under the stars. We try to think of little things you might need which is why we provide a nice spice cabinet, good cooking utensils and lots of glass and dinnerware to make it easy if you want to cook. The special soaps that our property manager has handmade also make a nice touch. We look forward to a return hopefully in Fall, which is just as nice as summer. Thanks again for staying with us. My husband and I have just got back from Creekside. This was our third visit there. We just love it! This time was so special. I had been sick for almost 2 months and coming here this time was a blessing! We plan on going back again. And this time with our daughter and her husband. Our Golden, Duke just loves it there! He knows where the lake is and just cannot wait to get in! Next time, it will be Duke and his little sister who is also a Golden, Daisy! We both love going to creekside! Everything there was great! We went to Beaver Meadows Resort on our last night there and had prime rib. The drive ther took a few short minutes. We went to town also to rent dvd's,and had peaches and cream ice cream which is Dukes favorite! If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing place to just kick back, this is the place! Thank you Mary& Bill for sharing your paradise!!!! Jay& Michele Herbert and Duke!
Owner response:Michele and Jay and of course Duke, thank you for spending time at Creekside again. We are delighted that you continue to return and can't wait to hear how Daisy enjoys the mountains with her older brother, Duke after your next visit. It is so wonderful to be so secluded at Creekside, yet to be able to have a short drive to restaurants and Red Feather Village. We understand from the note you left in our Guest Book, you had some wonderful fishing too! My guess is that Duke helped Jay out in this endeavor. We are so glad to be able to share our home with you and look forward to your next visit with your daughter and her husband. Kind regards and we hope to see you again soon. Mary and Bill Cook

The description on the property was somewhat accurate. Not secluded though. 4 different cabins can watch you while in the hot tub and on the deck. Cozy...which means somewhat small. Horse stables were nice, if you had horses. Othwerwise, all sorts of rats and other insects not normally foud in the forest were running around. I was scared to let the kids play outside. Kinda remodeled. Granite countertops are tiled, not solid piece, so you have to clean grout. Carpet was an eye sore. Loft has rails spaced so far apart that 5 years and younger could fall between rails. Also, a big gap at second half of stairs was a danger and our kid hit his head during the fall. Just not safe for kids. The two bedrooms do not have window treatments to block out sun well enough. The morning sun shines right in and heats up the room. If you plan on sleeping past 8 am...good luck..and that was on the day the high was 55 degrees! There was stuff in every drawer and cupboard so we had to leave our food on the counter. The rental lady was rude and attempted to charge us a fee after we checked out. When I initially discussed it with the owner, it was my fault I did not announce I was bringing a well behaved dog. They didn't announce my bedroom would be 95 degrees at 7 am either. The owner was not easy to deal with and I would not recommend this property. There are better deals out there if you are willing to look around.
Owner response:We are disappointed that this individual felt he had to put this negative review of our wonderful property due to our charging him a fee for their two dogs. He did not indicate pets while booking his reservation and it is very clear on our website. We are happy to accommodate dogs as we are dog owners and do so for a $10/day charge, which covers all dogs. Creekside resides on 5 private acres, has very adequate space (over 2,000 sq. ft) and as other reviews indicate is immaculate. The nearest home is over 10 acres away and you have to look through quite a few trees to get a glimpse of it. Hunter Douglas wood blinds cover the windows. There is electric baseboard heat in every room that can be adjusted to the renters prference or turned off if not needed and usually in summer, the need for heat is minimal. There is ample cupboard space with a renter’s supply cupboard and a spice cupboard for those who like to cook, as well as ample empty cupboard space. If you don't like green carpet and can't live with it for a weekend, this could be a problem. Chipmunks and squirrels frequent the property as do humingbirds, and an occasional moose will come to say hi.-- not rats! It is quite surprising to read this as this renter left this message in our guest comment book "What a great place! We had a nice relaxing weekend hiking, sitting by the fireplace, having conversation on the deck and relaxing in the hot tub. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to get away for the weekend. We hope to come again!" We follow up with guests by email after their stay and this was his quote “Good afternoon, Mary…Despite the horrific weather, we had a great time. I think because of the weather, we did not see much wildlife but the rest was great. Thank you.” Creekside Corral is booked approximately 120 nights per year and we are happy to provide anyone with a referral base of previous renters. Please see our other reviews. We love our home, have worked very hard to make it a great vacation get away for folks who would like a peaceful stay in the mountains. We provide many extra ammenities that other rentals don't. and are pleased to say that we have many return customers. Our home is very safe for children and we have hosted many families throughout the years. Our hot tub is maintained regularly with crystal clear inviting water. Please keep in mind this review was provided by a customer who was charged a daily pet rate for undisclosed pets. Thank you.

This has been the thrill of a lifetime! My daughter, her two sons and wives surprised me with this beautiful escape to God's Country for my Mother's Day gift. I will never forget your lovely mountain "get away". Thank you for shaing it with us. Yesterday we saw a moose standing in a pond. It posed for all the cameras. I will be 87 in July so this was the thrill of a lifetime.

This was our fourth trip to the Red Feather area. This is our favorite cabin and location to date. The owner was very helpful and responsive to all of our questions. The pictures do not do it justice. The layout is fantastic for entertaining and enjoying time with your friends and loved ones. There is even a mud room for unpacking and storing supplies. Although we had wonderful weather, the extensive large windows are great for enjoying views in any weather. We spent a lot of time lounging in the sun on the spacious porch. The kitchen was well equipped and we made several meals with ease. The grill was fantastic for steaks and pork chops. We also really enjoyed the luxurious hot tub each evening under the stars. The property was immaculate. We were bummed that we did not bring our fishing poles, because there are several great fishing spots right off the property. Another thing that this cabin has more seclusion and privacy than those that we have stayed in in the Crystal Lakes area. We did not see another person on the property after the manager checked us in. However, it is only a short drive to Red Feather village in case you have forgotten something. We would HIGHLY recommend this cabin. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer to enjoy this wonderful mountain home.
Owner response:Jenny, we are so happy that your stay was so wonderful and hope that you come back soon to visit Creekside Corral. It is such a special house and we feel very privledged to be able to share it with others. I agree, those windows bring in the outside and no matter what the weather, the views are incredible. And yes, it is so very secluded, yet a short distance from amenities you may require. The wildflowers should be blooming now throughout most of the summer and with the moisture we have -- it will be a beautiful summer at Creekside. Come back soon. Mary

Mary we had a wonderful time. We have a 3 season home on a mountain pond in Maine and love every moment there and as soon as we pulled into your driveway we felt right at home. You are correct, the pics don't do it justice. I love how the different lighting of the day changes the vistas. The fire place added the perfect ambience. Thanks so much and hope to do it again!! First I wanted to thank the owners for allowing their wonderful cabin to be rented. This will be the second year that my husband and I and 4 other friends will be spending september and the changing of the aspens at their property. Our first year we found it to be extremely clean and well kept along with very comfortable and relaxing. All of our husbands loved it as they could sit in the hot tub and watch college football as the placement of the hottub was very stategic ( great thinking and thank you from the women of the house). We got to experience a pair of moose that stayed pretty much all weekend in the cooley below and went on long walks that were filled with wild flowers and chattering chipmunks. We would reccomend this cabin to any and all who want a wonderful mountain retreat that is clean, comfortable and private that is why we have booked for yet another year of aspen changing and fun.
Owner response:Julia, we are delighted that your group is coming back to Creekside in September. You have picked a wonderful tme to be in the mountains -- but then again -- is there a bad time? With the moisture we have had, the mountains are extra beautiful this year. We have added a piece of art or two and some new hot tub towels but other than that, everything will be as you remembered. And yes, we still have that moose who comes to visit us. Wildflowers should still be in bloom to some degree as the moisture we had will bring lots of them this summer. And rest assured, we have not moved the hot tub. Thanks so much for your kind words and we look forward to your visit. Mary and Bill Cook

Not only is the home tastefully decorated and full of pleasant amenities, but directly outside the 3 horse pastures with loafing sheds is the Roosevelt National Forest with a fantastic valley surrounded by high hills. It's like you stepped out into a Western movie. Our horses had no problems adjusting to the altitude- from 500' at home to 8,000'. Our horses approved. We'll be back!
Owner response:Thank you Diane and Peter. We loved being able to share our home with you and are so glad you enjoyed it. We enjoyed meeting you and taking you out for a trail ride. Mary and Bill 5/2011. Peter and Diane, we are so glad you are returning for another week at Creekside. We hope to ride again in July. Mary and Bill

We spent Labor Day weekend here and it was even nicer than the pictures. The views of the surrounding mountains and the lake are spectacular. Everything was clean and well maintained. This "cabin" was twice as big as our family of 4 needed. It is not mentioned, but this is actually on the edge of Red Feather and Crystal Lakes. Since it is in the Crystal Lakes HOA, you are allowed to fish Crystal Lake as well as the lake shown in the picture when you buy the $30/day pass for adults at Base Camp. My 6 year old son hauled in a 16+" rainbow trout! Our friends staying at Little Taste of Heaven fished catch and release and threw back a trout that was just shy of 20"! Their cabin was tiny, but very cute. Creekside Corral is more remote than some (about 10 mins to Crystal), but it was well stocked and tastefully decorated. There was Dish to watch football on Sunday and cartoons in the mornings. The beds were espeically comforable with big down comforters and nice pillows. We also appreciated the cut firewood for the day that we had a late afternoon rain and everything cooled down. Thank you so much for sharing your home!

Mary, We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our vacation (even with the rain on most days!) in your lovely Red Feather Lakes home! Thank you for offering such a gorgeous vacation spot. We were made to feel so welcome in your home, and we appreciated having so many amenities (hot tub, grill, fireplace, jetted tub, deck furniture, Kleenex, bathroom scent, candles, paper towels, extraordinarily comfortable furniture/beds, entertainment, reading materials, notes that explained what and how to use various items, and all the other things I cannot think of right now. We truly enjoyed our stay, the view, the peace and quiet. Probably our most favorite was the gorgeous fireplace, which we used to heat the home on several of the the rainy, chilly days/nights. The second favorite was the hot tub/view of the stars from the deck. Thank you again for offering your home to vacationers such as us. We truly appreciated it. Sincerely, Jennifer and Keith Lorensen -----

The location near the lake is great for fishing and the scenery is beautiful. Enjoyed the hot tub also!!! We would certainly recommend this property for a quiet and restful vacation spot.
