Location: Dahlonega, Northeast Mountains, Georgia, USA (50 Miles North of Atlanta & 5 Min. from Downtown Dahlonega)
Accommodations: House, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.5 Baths (Sleeps 12)
Keywords: Luxury Mountain Home
Located in the private, gated community of Wildwood, this exquisite home has 200 acres of backyard that features miles of walking trails along Cavender Creek, the Chestatee River & the foundations of gold mines that operated 180 years ago. The site of the old ore stamping mill & its original mill pond have been restored and now feature a waterwheel, rest area & picnic pavilion. The Chestatee River is stocked with trout & is a favorite of local anglers.
This home features 5 bedrooms (master on main w/ garden tub)on 3 levels (2 king, 1 queen, 1 double , 4 singles, & covertible sofa) & 3.5 baths. The house is great for two or three couples with children. Or up to 5 couples can have their own bedrooms. The larger, main level kitchen has dual sinks & dishwashers; breakfast bar & separate table. The lower level kitchen is galley style complete with range-top, oven & dishwasher. The dining room has a table that easily seats 8. The centerpiece of the living room is a wood burning, rock fireplace. The french doors open onto a wrap around porch.
The lower level porch is covered. Also, the lower level is very kid friendly with its large bedrooms and separate entertainment and recreation areas. It provides the parents some privacy as well.
While this house is delightful, the best part of Wildwood is what's outside. Look out; it is beautiful in every direction. From the deck you can enjoy the breathtaking view across the acres of green pasture as the sun sets behind the Appalachian peaks miles in the distance. You are in your own private nature preserve. The hiking trails are through some of the most extensive Eastern Hemlock forest in the state. Much of the main trail was first developed by the gold miners in the late 1820's! The trails converge at the Chestatee River. Overlooking the river is a rock outcropping that sheltered the Cherokee Indians years before the colonists arrived in north Georgia. Their carvings in the rocks still remain as a reminder. When you see the place you will know why so many have been drawn to it over the years.
Wildwood has some of the best wildlife habitat around; and it is very accessible. You will see deer and wild turkey on almost any venture outside. If you are quiet and lucky you may glimpse one of the more shy residents like a black bear or a bobcat. In any case and in any weather it is stunningly beautiful.
Done with walking? Enjoy the North Georgia mountains while you visit one of the six wineries that are within a few miles of Dahlonega. They have tastings and tours daily and special brunches on the weekends. The town itself is nestled in the mountains and has charm and a rich history. The buildings in and around the college and downtown area are from the 1800's. The huge amounts of gold that came from the surrounding hills prompted the United States to locate a mint in Dahlonega. The mint was closed at the start of the War Between the States. The main building of North Georgia College is built on the foundation of the old mint.
Wildwood is a perfect spot from which to enjoy a vacation in the mountains of North Georgia. Last minute travelers are welcome. Please call or email for the Spring special rates!!!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2000
The owners are a family from Atlanta. Since buying the property in the 1960's, we have enjoyed getting away from the city to the Dahlonega area to fish, hunt, camp, hike and float down the Chestatee River. We built this house in 2000 and when it is not in use by lucky non-family visitors we absolutely enjoy it ourselves.

We rented this house as family lodging for my daughter and son-in-law's wedding at a local winery in August 2011, and we had the best time! The house sits perched on top of a hill overlooking beautiful meadows, and talk about peace and quiet! My daughter has already suggested we have a girl's weekend here one weekend. Thank you for offering such a wonderful home for us. It was clean, cool, and easy to find.

We certainly enjoyed our weekend getaway to Wildwood. We were visiting to attend our nephew's wedding and all was perfect. Plenty of space and lots of sleeping accomodations to make everyone comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and there was lots of great gathering space. The owners provided us with directions to our destinations to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend the home.

We brought our little family and several couples up to Wildwood for a little weekend getaway in the mountains - we will be back for sure! The place was perfect for us. It was clean and had everything we were looking for, including enough beds for several couples, a great kitchen, expansive outside areas, pool table, and hiking trails to a wild river out the back door. Thanks!!

I cannot say enough about our stay at Wildwood. Our Son was married at Wolf Mountain Winery in Dahlonega October 29th. We rented the home October 27th-October 31. Our family came in from various parts of the country and we were intent on finding a place where everyone would feel comfortable and where we could all be together. Wildwood exceeded our expectations! The home is beautiful yet comfortable. Everyone had privacy when needed and plenty of "gathering space" when desired. The home is well equiped and fabulous! Todd, the caretaker, is a treasure, making sure we had everything we needed. Wildwood will be our destination for future events in Dahlonega...it was and is truly perfect. (pics do not do the property justice)

This home was exactly what our family wanted and needed. The real estate rep was extremly polite and helpful...Couldn't have done it with out you Paige!..Thanks! The fact that this is the only home (aside from a care taker home) in this beautiful new subdivision with a one mile paved street just perfect for my morning run. I even saw a flock of wild turkey's one morning. The house had everything we needed and was large enough for all 14 of us!. Well worth the money. Photo's don't do it justice. Much more beautiful than they show. Thanks again Paige you made the experience from really good to great.

We found the property, care taker and experience very delightful. The house is spacious, set on a wonderful lot with many acres to roam enjoying the local wildlife and mountains. The many walking trails are well kept and enjoyable especially with the changing of colors during out late October visit. The location was great for visiting the local winery’s and festivals. I recommend this property for your North Georgia vacations.

What a gem we found in the tiny town of Dahlonega! Our host and contact person were marvelous in every way imaginable! From the time our reservation was confirmed until day of departure all our needs were met in true southern hospitality manner. Our only regret was we didn't stay long enough! We did get to tour the town, pan for gold and explore waterfalls, but there's so much more to this charming area. We had a soggy ride this year, but didn't have to get up with the roosters as we were just a few minutes from the start. We'd love to stay here again! Thank you so much Paige and Todd!

We had a wonderful time at your mountain home! Todd met us in the driveway, and offered to help with anything we needed. Our daughter's graduation was a tear jerker, and a memory never forgotten. The weather was beautiful though hot. I haven't checked your weekly rates, but will online. A great place for all seasons. Tell Push we said thanks (I love that name).
