The Timber's Villa 1 is a striking, contemporary three bedroom house in the ski paradise of Teton Village, a clean composition of stone, wood and glass. Fir trees and aspens, grasses and wildflowers pepper the hillside behind the house, while to the front is the great valley, with its scalloped border of snowy mountains. There is a palpable accord between the house and its setting – the interiors embrace the outdoors with high windows, natural materials and balconies open to the wide blue sky. Moose, bear, deer, fox and coyote occasionally visit the little village, and a quiet observer can sit on the decks of the Timbers and watch them wander by.
A split foyer entrance of stacked stone and glass houses the tall front door. Inside, a feeling of elegance and peace reigns. Arched wood ceilings are supported by thick burnished beams that angle up like cathedral trusses. Robust fireplaces, set inside raised hearths of stacked fieldstone, echo the exterior walls. A spacious, airy main room houses the living, dining and cooking areas; while fifteen-foot windows flood the space with clear mountain light and a grand view of the Tetons. Everything about the Timbers seems written in the language of order, harmony and tranquility: polished wood floors reflect the light; simple cream-colored walls are bracketed by warm wood trim, a stone-topped breakfast bar faces the neat, contemporary kitchen with its Viking cooktop. Outside the living room is a deck with a gas grill.
The entire top floor is devoted to a wonderful master suite, which has the same spare, simple décor as the rest of the house. The big bedroom has a king bed and a gas fireplace, a flat-screen tv and glass doors that open to a balcony. A private bath suite with two sinks, a soaking tub, and a separate steam shower is just off the bedroom. The two other bedrooms are set on the bottom floor, private and lovely, each with their own bath and queen bed. They share a sitting room with an entertainment system between them, where a comfortable sofa can be converted to a queen bed to accommodate all the children in the family. Outside, on the stone patio, is a roomy hot tub with a view across the valley to the and to the mountains beyond. A well-equipped laundry room is also on this level.
Teton Village is one of Jackson Hole’s best locations – so many pleasures are within walking distance that you need never get in the car. You can stroll to fine restaurants and shops, symphonies and outdoor concerts, festivals and art shows. Hiking, bike and ski trails, hot air ballooning, paragliding, and horseback riding are only minutes away. The fluttering of the aspen leaves of Teton Village sounds like water running over stones; a constant and serene music in the warm months. And The Timber's Villa 1 – handsome, spacious and welcoming – does justice to its wonderful village setting.
