Romantique Montmartre - Luxury Studio Hideaway
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This romantic and beautiful studio apartment (formerly known as 'Le Diamant') has been freshly designed and renovated with the utmost attention to detail. Located on a quiet one-way street which was made famous by the hit movie “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain” (yes that Amelie!), it promises you a stay to remember.
As a very spacious studio, the apartment is well laid-out to feel very large, but still cozy for a romantic getaway. From the high-security front door, one enters into a small foyer, which connects to both the bathroom and the bedroom area. The comfortable queen-sized bed is framed with ample storage space. High quality linens adorn the bed. The bedroom area can be separated from the living room by drawing a heavy decorative curtain, to span the width of the apartment -- great for additional family or friends using both sleeping spaces.
Beyond the main sleeping area is the living room and a luxurious sofa bed, above which is a magnificent map of ancient Paris. We don’t recommend that you use this map to plan your site-seeing route, but it is fun to try, nevertheless!
Opposite the sofa and fitting quite well into the apartment’s striking black and ivory color scheme, is a professional Yamaha black gloss piano, available for use by beginners and virtuosi alike. Above the piano is the flat screen television and DVD player to make your downtime more enjoyable with lots of fun Parisien DVDs to watch. The television comes with cable access to over 100 channels, including CNN and BBC World.
The kitchen has been created so that you can do as much or as little cooking as you would like. With a low profile four-burner stove, a full sized oven, separate microwave, and refrigerator with freezer compartment, there is little in the way of culinary creation that can’t be accomplished here. All the necessary utensils, plates, bowls and flatware are at your disposal. As with Paris itself, you are limited only by your imagination!
From the entrance foyer, on the right is a laundry closet, which houses a washer dryer combination as well as a separate drying rack, ironing board and iron.
Opposite the front door is the large bathroom, with toilet, full sized tub and shower with rainfall showerhead. A vanity and medicine cabinet provide space for your toiletries as well as the ample supply of fluffy towels that are provided for your use.
Staying connected will be easy from 'Romantique Montmartre', with free WiFi internet access and unlimited free telephone calls to over 70 countries, including the U.S., Canada and Australia.
The Area Around 'Romantique Montmartre'
This is the Montmartre we know as depicted in the movie 'Amelie Poulain.' In fact, the corner market she visited is just down the street! And even though a few cars do go down this charming street, it's just about as quiet a spot in Paris as you can find.
The imposing Sacré Coeur (La Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre) is just a short walk away, as is the artists' square, Place du Tertre, the Montmartre Cemetery (Cimetière de Montmartre), Le Moulin Rouge and the only working vineyard in Paris. In the immediate vicinity are numerous cafés, restaurants and quaint drinking spots.
Montmartre is a hill which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit order of priests was founded and the home to many famous artists who had studios there -- such as Salvador Dalí, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh. At the end of the 19th-century, the area developed into a center of free-wheeling and decadent entertainment. Here is where was (and still is) the popular cabaret, the Moulin Rouge, and at Le Chat Noir, artists, singers and performers regularly appeared including Yvette Guilbert, Marcelle Lender, Aristide Bruant, La Goulue, Georges Guibourg, Mistinguett, Fréhel, Jane Avril, Damia and others.
Montmartre is an officially designated historic district with limited development allowed in order to maintain its historic and romantic character. A funicular railway, the Funiculaire de Montmartre, operated by RATP, ascends the hill from the south while the 'Montmartrobus' circles the hill.
The Abbeses Métro is just a few minutes walk from the apartment along with several buses. There is no shortage of wonderful neighborhood bistros, markets, boutiques and amenities of all kinds.
This is a very special corner of Paris with a special ambiance all its own that will seduce you, no doubt!

If you are looking for a place to stay that will capture the feel and culture of Paris, then staying at Romantique Montmartre is a perfect destination. Our trip started on such a positive note when we met our contact person waiting for us as we got out of the taxis. It was not long before the apartment felt like home. The bed was comfortable and the heated towel rack was a pleasant surprise. Having the use of a full kitchen was so convenient and practical for having some appetizers with our glass of wine. The location of the apartment was perfect for getting around Paris. The Metro was two blocks away taking you to any destination in Paris with such ease and efficiency. In the apartment, there were numerous books and maps of the city, such a benefit when planning out our next day adventure. We absolutely loved the location. It was so much fun to walk around the neighbourhood and pick out a restaurant that appealed to our craving at the moment or purchase food from any of the numerous vendors to take home to the apartment. Walking up to the top of the hill behind the apartment takes you to shops filled with the paintings and crafts of the local artists. Continuing on with your walk takes you to the Basilica where you can experience the influence and historical beauty of the Catholic Church. Going through the countless boutiques in the area will satisfy those who enjoy the experience of shopping. We stayed ten days and found this a perfect length of time to get all of our site seeing done. It was a wonderful and Romantique holiday in the middle of February.Did you find this review helpful? We had an excellent experience at Romantique Montmartre and do plan to return. The property was as described and left nothing to want, perfect for two people. The location is excellent and the neighborhood outstanding. Easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and public transportation. The "area guide" prepared by Helen was very useful and shortened the learning curve for settling in.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This apartment was decorated beautifully. It was clean and well-equipped for visitors. The Abbesses neighbourhood was safe and interesting with restaurants, shops, cleaners, hairdressers etc. Transportation (bus and metro) are nearby. Books and instructions about touring in Paris were helpful. Cleaning and a change of linens every week were included in the rent. The greeter was at the door when I arrived so everything went off flawlessly. I enjoyed the Café Bruant on Des Abbesses. We also went to the Moulin Rouge which was walkable.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Paris has so much to offer, and we continuously ran ourselves ragged trying to make sure we didn't miss anything. Having such a nice apartment to retreat to in the evening helped make our trip so much easier. Helen was great during our booking and was available to answer all of our questions. Our greeter was also excellent and helped ensure we felt at home and gave us some fantastic tips for nearby restaurants and sites. The apartment had everything that we needed and is clearly very well taken care of. The metro is very close, as well as some excellent restaurants and bakeries. If you're not up for eating out every evening there's a grocer right down the street. We would highly recommend this apartment and will certainly look to stay here again on our next trip!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Romantique Montmartre is an elgant studio apartment. We, my wife and I and our daughter, found it ideal for our stay in Paris. The service was good, we were met by an efficent and well informed 'greeter' who gave us sound advice about getting around Paris. The apartment was spotless and well maintained. It is secure and convenient to the metro, a variety of local restaurants and the tourist sites of Montmatre. It is very comfortable and well equiped. By Metro, it doesn't take long to get the central parts of the city.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed at Romantique Montmartre for two weeks and enjoyed a tastefully decorated apartment in a great location. The owner provides excellent service both during the rental process and once you are there. Upon arrival, you will see that Helen advertises the apartment exactly as it is, which is not always the case with rentals. We hope to stay there again the next time we're in Paris.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Rue des Abbesses View on map
Just out of the metro Abbesses, is this great street that runs parallel to where the apartment is. The unusual rust red church on the left with the turquoise mosaics is the neo-Gothic St-Jean-de-Montmartre. The rest of the street has plenty of great shops for fresh produce, cafes, restaurants, florists, dress shops etc.
