Location: Paris Arrondissement 18, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe
Accommodations: Apartment, Studio + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 3)
Keywords: Apartment,flat, studio
This bright and beautiful studio apartment has been freshly redesigned and renovated with the utmost attention to detail. Located on a quiet one-way street which was made famous by the hit movie “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain” (yes that Amelie!), it promises you a stay to remember.
As a very spacious studio, the apartment is well laid-out to feel very large. From the high-security front door one enters into a small foyer, which connects to both the bathroom and the bedroom area. The comfortable Queen-sized bed (which can become 2 single beds), is framed with ample storage space. High quality linens adorn the bed. This bedroom area can be separated from the living room by drawing a heavy decorative curtain, to span the width of the apartment -- great for groups using both sleeping spaces.
Beyond the main sleeping area is the living room and a luxurious sofa bed, above which is a magnificent map of ancient Paris. We don’t recommend that you use this map to plan your site-seeing route, but it is fun to try, nevertheless!
Opposite the sofa and fitting quite well into the apartment’s striking black and ivory color scheme, is a gleaming piano, available for use by beginners and virtuosi alike. Above the piano is the flat screen television and DVD player to make your downtime more enjoyable. The television comes with cable access to over 100 channels, including CNN and BBC World.
The kitchen has been created so that you can do as much or as little cooking as you would like. With a low profile four-burner stove, a full sized oven, separate microwave, and refrigerator with freezer compartment, there is little in the way of culinary creation that can’t be accomplished here. All the necessary utensils, plates, bowls and flatware are at your disposal. As with Paris itself, you are limited only by your imagination!
From the entrance foyer, on the right is a laundry closet, which houses a washer dryer combination as well as a separate drying rack, ironing board and iron.
Opposite the front door is the large bathroom, with toilet, full sized tub and shower with rainfall showerhead. A vanity and medicine cabinet provide space for your toiletries as well as the ample supply of fluffy towels that are provided for your use.
Staying connected will be easy from "Le Diamant", with free WiFi internet access and unlimited free telephone calls to over 70 countries, including the U.S., Canada and Australia.
The Area Around "Le Diamant"
This is the Montmartre we know as depicted in the movie "Amelie Poulain." In fact, the corner market she visited is just down the street! And even though a few cars do go down this charming street, it's just about as quiet a spot in Paris as you can find.
The imposing Sacré Coeur (La Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre) is just a short walk away, as is the artists' square, Place du Tertre, the Montmartre Cemetery (Cimetière de Montmartre), Le Moulin Rouge and the only working vineyard in Paris. In the immediate vicinity are numerous cafés, restaurants and quaint drinking spots.
Montmartre is a hill which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit order of priests was founded and the home to many famous artists who had studios there -- such as Salvador Dalí, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh. At the end of the 19th-century, the area developed into a center of free-wheeling and decadent entertainment. Here is where was (and still is) the popular cabaret, the Moulin Rouge, and at Le Chat Noir, artists, singers and performers regularly appeared including Yvette Guilbert, Marcelle Lender, Aristide Bruant, La Goulue, Georges Guibourg, Mistinguett, Fréhel, Jane Avril, Damia and others.
Montmartre is an officially designated historic district with limited development allowed in order to maintain its historic character. A funicular railway, the Funiculaire de Montmartre, operated by RATP, ascends the hill from the south while the "Montmartrobus" circles the hill.
The Abbeses Métro is just a few minutes walk from the apartment along with several buses. There is no shortage of wonderful neighborhood bistros, markets, boutiques and amenities of all kinds.
This is a very special corner of Paris with an ambiance all its own that will seduce you, no doubt!

I spent a lovely couple of days in this gorgeous studio. The location is fantastic and it feels like you've escaped into "Amelie"! It's also very easy to get out to explore the rest of the city because the metro is so close by and convenient. The apartment itself was very clean, beautifully decorated and quite large by Paris standards - a great spot to return to after a long day enjoying the city. I will definitely look to stay here again on my next trip to Paris!

Thanks again for letting us stay in your place in Paris. My mom and I had a lovely time and it was great to have a nice place to stay. We loved the neighborhood and I especially enjoyed my hill workouts every morning when I went out to get bread.

The two us stayed for a week earlier this month. We have stayed in over 20 flats in Europe and the Sates and this one of the most richly decorated units. Many units have cheap dishes, dull knives, worn off Teflon pans, no microwave oven and poor lighting. I have come to expect that and work around it due to the cost savings and extra space of staying in a flat. Helen’s unit was the opposite, very bright and with a well equipped kitchen. It was also very clean, in both the common areas and the studio. It is very quiet inside with this windows closed. The location is just outside the tourist throngs of the center of the Montmartre area and several blocks to butcher, cheese, veg. shops and the G20 supermarket. This is my second time staying in this area of Paris (last was one street north). Others included St Germaine, Latin Quarter near the Sorbonne and Montparnasse. The few blocks around Helen's are my favorite location.
Owner response:We’re very pleased that Le Diamant exceeded your expectations Walt. It is a luxury apartment and therefore we try to maintain high standards throughout the apartment for the enjoyment of our guests and at an affordable rate. We also find it a fun and vibrant neighborhood which guests like to return to many times as their base for exploring other parts of Paris. (Helen Craig, owner)

We really enjoyed staying here in this charming Montmartre apartment. It is so well apppointed and beautifully decorated - very french. Location is excellent - so close to Le Metro and so many places to eat just down the road. The weather has been wonderful and so I guess we have been very lucky. We will be recommending this little place to all our friends and family who are planning a trip to Paris in the future...

We were really looking forward to our stay in Paris and were not at all disappointed. Loved the apartment and the neighborhood. There was everything that we needed to make our stay memorable. We had a good sleep every night, ready for an adventure the following day. Really enjoyed the Sacre Coeur and the Notre Dame. We would certainly return here and stay at Le Diamant.
