Enjoy your relaxing vacation in the gated community of Mahogany Run. This 3 bedroom oceanview villa provides beautiful down island views of the British Virgin Islands, Jost Van Dyke and Tortola as well as the U.S. Virgins', St John. While pelicans cruise by, watch for whales and cruise ships from your covered veranda with a cool breeze and your favorite beverage.
This villa is well equipped for the gourmet cook but there are also many nearby restaurants. The Old Stone Farm House, one of the best restaurants on the island is located in Mahogany Run along with the Grille Room in the Golf Clubhouse for more casual dining available to all guests.
Ideally situated on the north side of the island, Carefree is within short driving distance of shopping in Charlotte Amalie, Yacht Haven Grand and Havensight Malls. Magens Bay the closest beach and one of the best in the world is 10 minutes away just past the St Thomas Dairy's Ice Cream Stand, the "Udder Delight". Red Hook (catch the ferry to St. John) and the East End restaurants and shopping are just 20 minutes by car.
The driveway is on the entrance level so there is no lugging of suitcases and groceries up or down flights of stairs.
A rental car is recommended. In St Thomas you drive on the left. Its easier than you think.

- We have good ocean breezes for cooling but there are bedroom window air conditioners for summer months if needed. The kitchen usually has a full stock of spices, salt and pepper etc. There is a coffee bean grinder, breadmaker, floats and beach chairs, beach towels, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, suntan lotion, bug spray, trash bags, flashlights and battery lanterns, foil and wrap, cleaning supplies. There is an honor wine refrigerator stocked. The hot water is solar heated. Linens are 400 thread count.

Why the Owner Chose Mahogany Run
This northeast side of St Thomas has one of the most beautiful ocean views we have ever seen with the sound of waves in the background. It looks out at Hans Lolick island (no buildings) as well as a down island view of the British Virgins, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, and St John and some uninhabited Cays of both the U.S. and British Virgins. Being in a gated community, Mahogany Run with a golf course and two very good restaurants was a plus. Convenience to Magen's Bay and Charlotte Amalie for shopping helped too.
When building the home, we made sure you could enter the main living room/kitchen/master bedroom area from the same level as you park your car. That way you do not have to negotiate up or down stairs to carry groceries and supplies into the house as you do in most St Thomas villas.

We recently spent 10 days @Carefree Villa and it was awesome! I have rented houses in different locations, and this one toped the list. The views off the deck of the villa were just beautiful and so relaxing and very spacious for several people. The deck was great for laying out to read or laying in the sun. The villa has everything and anything you would need, espically in the kitchen. Rick was very helpful in sending information on places to go in St Thomas and answered any question I had. He even sent a driver to meet us at the airport and take us to follow to the villa. We came in after dark in the rain, so the driver was a life saver and also helpful with information. It was a wonderful week and I would recommend this georgous villa for anyone. While you're here, check out Maegan's Beach, Udder Delight rum shakes and Coki Beach! It was a fun week at Carefree!!

My family and I stayed at Rick's villa 4/18/-4/25/11. It is nestled into the hillside at Mahagony Run, it takes a few minutes from when you leave the main road to reaching the villa but it is worth the view you come home to. The villa is quite beautiful and squeaky clean. All the comforts of home are there and the beds were extremely comfortable. We loved coming "home" after a busy day, we would go out on the verandah and were simply amazed at the views, it sure did not get old. The week passed much to quickly and we hope to return "Carefree" soon, do not hesitate to book with Rick directly, he is very knowledgeable and will answer any question you have in a timely manner. Thanks Rick for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Just returned from Carefree on St. Thomas. I'm often skeptical of the write-ups of rental properties, however, this one is spot on. It has everything you could possibly need, a great location (IMHO), and we could not have had a nicer place to stay. The pictures are exactly what we had at our disposal, the owner very responsive prior to and during our visit. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to visit St. Thomas. It is not near the major "cities" on the Island, but anywhere you go is a short trip. Red Hook was 15 minutes, Charlotte Amalie less than 15, and the several beaches we visited were no longer of a drive. And returning to the house, pool and accommodations made it difficult to leave.

We just returned from a week at Carefree with our daughters and four grandchildren, ages 14-11-11-9, and we can't say enough about this house. It is clean and incredibly well equipped. We cooked nearly every meal at home and there wasn't anything lacking in the kitchen. There were beach towels and beach hats and lovely white eyelet robes in each bath. We enjoyed every moment. We had internet access so were able to stay in touch. Perfect is the word for our visit!

We have been visiting Carefree for many years and always look forward to returning. Carefree is a quiet, private retreat with lush landscaping and spectacular views from every room. The owners have thought of every detail, including a well-stocked kitchen and wireless internet service. Another bonus is that the villa is easily accessible - no stairs from the driveway. We would highly recommend Carefree for a relaxing stay on St. Thomas.

We have stayed at Carefree several times and have LOVED each and every visit. This is one of the BEST villas on St. Thomas. The kitchen is fully stocked, the floats are great for use at the beach and the deck/pool area is PERFECT! If you get a chance, you should plan on making a trip to Carefree. It is definitely a "bucket list" item you won't want to miss!!! You just can't beat those Down Island views!!!!!

Within the past 12 months, I have vacationed in the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Paradise Island, Bahamas and now St. Thomas. We had an excellent vacation in USVI; one of, if not the best vacation ever!! After visiting St. Thomas on a Royal Caribbean cruise last summer, I knew St. Thomas was a place that I wanted to return to for an extended stay. I had no idea how much I would love it. Prior to this trip, Kauai, Hawaii was by far my favorite vacation desination but I would now have to say that the Virgin Islands seriously rival a Hawaiian vacation and are a step ahead given the travel time from the east coast. Overall, we were very pleased with the accomodations. While it is not the 5-star hotel with the updated decor (such as cabinets and kitchen and bath fixtures) that we are used to, everything else about Carefree enhanced our vacation: the view was absolutely breathtaking; the private sun deck and pool allowed me to relax and sunbathe in the mornings without having to feel rushed to get to the beach; the kitchen was equipped with every imaginable accoutrement making meals easy and we truly enjoyed the use of the outdoor grill. Needless to say, we made ourselves right at home and it was very hard to leave. One of the only drawbacks of the mountainside location are the steep and winding roads. We were so afraid of driving the roads to the villa at night that every plan we made was around getting back to the villa before dark. This made eating out at night during the winter month (sun goes down at 5:30) impossible but the fully equipped kitchen allowed us to feed ourselves while saving money.
Owner response:I feel bad that the roads limited someone's vacation. It is true that the house is located about 5 blocks off the paved blacktop road Mahogany Run North. Those 5 blocks are cement paved, slightly steep single lane roads that are roughly textured so you can drive up them when it is raining. These types of roads are typical into private villas but if they are too daunting, one should stay at a hotel or condo on the main roads. You do not need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get in or out of Carefree as you may need to other island villas.
