  We had a family get together at this home over the recent Labor Day weekend. We had a great time and the house was perfect for us. After reading the review that was posted in February, by another renter, we were somewhat skeptical that the house may not meet up to our standards. I am here to assure you that the house was immaculate, inside and out. I don't understand why people would post such nonsense, other that trying to get some money back from the owner. What a shame! The house may need some minor repairs outside, but goodness, what do you expect? It's a mountain home and the winter's can be harsh ! It was no big deal to us. The owner was an absolute delight to work with and we would want to rent from him again. We have rented many places in and around the North Georgia area but this home has the most spectacular view of all. You could see mountains forever in the horizon and the night time view of the sky was breath taking. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone considering renting in the N. Georgia mountain area.

• House needs a lot of attention!!

  We stayed at this house for the week of July 4th. The house was convenient to everything and close to Helen. The house itself needs a lot of attention. It needs a good cleaning inside and out. The dust and cobwebs were pretty bad, dust was just hanging off of things everywhere. Not good for people who have allergies for sure). We took wipes and wiped down just about everything and those wipes were filthy!!! The bedding on the beds (quilt especially) was stained and we didn't even use it...looked like large yellowish stains. The towels have seen better days for sure..very dingy and worn. There were also a share amount of bugs in the house all week...wasps, lots of flies, crickets, scorpion, spiders, and did I mention flies....so treatment for bugs is a must for this house and on a regular basis. I understand that the house is in the woods, but not all of these bugs belong in the house. We tried to cover up a hole of where we thought they were coming in, but that didn't work. The door leading to the main deck was nearly unusable, handle was loose and wouldn't open. There were also pickets on the railing that were missing and needs to be fixed. We also were quite surprised with the unpaved road leading up to the house. It was challenging at times due to the many dips and holes in the road. (probably nothing owner can do about that) but still worthy of notice to others. We also emailed the owner after returning home and heard nothing in return. The location was convenient and the views were great, but generally disappointed with the condition and cleanliness of the house for us and the family who traveled far to meet us here.

  I spent a few nights here for NYE 2011/2012 and had a great time. The views from this house are spectacular. The house itself was very nice and we had no real problems. The kitchen is well stocked with just about anything you'd need to cook and eat. We found everything we used to be in working order. The house (especially the basement area) could use a little work in the painting and patching department but this isn't going to ruin your time here. The value for the price is exceptional and I'd recommend this place to just about anyone. Bottom line, if you like the mountains and relaxing, you'll enjoy this place. If you are used to white gloved service in pristine environments, find the nearest Ritz Carlton. The road to the house was bumpy but nothing out of the ordinary for a mountain road.

  WE VISITED IN MARCH OF 2011. WE HAD A GREAT TIME. OWNER WAS QUICK TO RESPOND TO ANY OF OUR NEEDS. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS, GREAT SPACIOUS ROOMS, AND KITCHEN IS EQUIPED WITH ALL UTENSILS. WOULD CONSIDER RENTING AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I READ THE PREVIOUS REVIEW AND FOUND THAT ALL OF THE NEGATIVES THEY STATED TO BE NOT TRUE, OR ATLEAST NOT WHILE WE STAYED. HAD NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER. WILL RECOMMEND PAULS STEAK HOUSE OF ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO EAT IN HELEN. I WILL RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR OUR WONDERFUL STAY.

  I can honestly say that we would have never rented the house knowing it was at the top of a steep one mile long gravel road! It was a very disappointing way to beging our stay. While the house does enjoy some beautiful views and the rooms are nice size , most of the house is simple worn-out! We shared the following with the Owner after our stay but never heard one word in reply: the dail-in internet service did not work all week, all furniture needs a deep cleaning, fake flower arrangements have seen better days, cobwebs in most rooms, "pleather" curtains need cleaning, rotten hardwood flooring in living room, kitchen cabinets were dirty & disorganized, many chipped dishes, kitchen supplies/equipment/utensils/pot & pans need replacing, ice maker on the door did not work, missing shelving in refrigerator, no DVD player hooked to main level old tv, pull & runs in basement carpet, hole in basement love seat, ant problem, killed two scorpions in basement bathroom, several light bulbs burned out/missing, several lamps were broken, many walls/moldings need cleaning/patching/painting, basement toilet paper holder broken & bad patch places on wall, basement toilet ran every few minutes wasting water, bath towels are worn out, bedding is very dated, landschaping is overgrown, poison ivy growing on deck walk-way, decking is very dirty, hot tub cover is torn & so neglected we did not want to get in, several boards have fallen off the house, there's no way to secure the trash from animals so we had to clean up each morning, we called the maintenance number to pick up the trash but they never showed up. The Grandparents did find plenty of activities to share with there 4 year old Granddaughter. The road bike riders enjoyed two long beautiful rides. The basement bedrooms are dark and cool great for sleeping. We also found St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church which was very friendly and spiritually positive. We even had lunch with the Pastor. The Owner could not have been a better "Salesman" when were considering renting the house but once we were there and after we returned we never had any resolution to our requests/problems/defects which was again very disappointing! If you are looking for an "Animal House" Movie Weekend; this is the place! I found the house on VRBO. I am the Son-in-Law and my In-Laws were the renters. They were not happy and thus I, too, am disappointed and feel somewhat responsible.

  Owner response: We biult this home 6 years ago. we do not own the road it is mainained by the Association and the U S army., which is allowed access . I spent over $200 in labor and repair costs for their internet. only to find that they had moved it around and broke it.. We responded immediately The guest was never charged for any of this.. Our furniture is always maintained there is a simple silk flower arrangement on the dining table. there were no cobwebs the maids clean very well each time. the pleather curtains are brand new. there was a 4" water mark from rain, we have since relaqured. This kitchen is constantly monitered , dishes silverware, refrigerators, ice etc..there were 2 working dvd players within the house.. the guests mentioned to maintenace about ants and this was promptly sprayed that hour. The nature of these comments is beyond belief. toilets all were operating properly. No boards were ever in need of repair. There is minimal landscaping, cared for bi-weekly by the staff. There has never been only poisin ivy. Yes the hot tub cover did have a 3" inch tear, promptly corrected. the hot tubs are cleaned each rental whether used or not. Guests are advised to use the bungee cords to secure the trash, Enough we have been members of the VRBO family for several years. wehave never had an experience like this before.This guests did call me, however I was not advised of the level of lies. my wife and I did make a 1000 mile round trip to clear the air. unaware of these complaints we spent a week just making sure all was the way we would want if we were the guests.Overall this is a bunch of bull.since there call was nothing but a plea for cash back. I find it interesting that VRBO gives credence to something after 6 months without us even knowing.Please be advised of our displeasure over this and woiuld hope none of this reaches are rental page. thank you, for the opportunity to respond.
