A wonderful family thanksgiving

My family stayed at the Bucks County estate for Thanksgiving. As a couple with young kids, this property provided us with a wide range of activities, indoor and out. We spend afternoons exploring the property - we mostly played in the creek, went for walks in the forest, and explored a big field at the top of the hill. The kids were in heaven, and we were able to let them explore while still being able to see them from the kitchen. As promised it was private, quiet, and expansive. We felt like country gentry! The house itself managed to retain its farmhouse charm, but it is well outfitted with all mod cons - it was warm, the showers were hot, and the kitchen was very well appointed. And it was clear that it had been recently renovated and was extremely well maintained. The beds were really deliightful - thick down comforters, high threadcount sheets, and good mattresses. Like many old country homes, there were some quirky features (like low ceilings in the third floor rooms, or the half door entrance to one of the secondary bedrooms) but on the whole they added to the charm. The house is decorated well, and between the art on the walls and the many fireplaces, we felt right at home. The house is about 15 minutes from Frenchtown, NJ - which was a charming town with some nice stores, a great wine store (the wine hut), and a decent market. We didn't get to explore much, but the landscape was lovely. We flew into Newark, and it was pretty easy to get to with about an hours drive. We had drove to Philadelphia a few times during our stay, and we had hoped that the property was closer to Philly. If you are looking for a country getaway in bucks county, I can recommend this house wholeheartedly.

We really LOVED the house. It was gorgeous and the weather was amazing. Bucks County was really beautiful. We couldn't have picked a better weekend. I was able to relax, but really ate (and drank) far too much. We were even able to eat brunch outside on Saturday. It was exactly the retreat I needed.. After a weekend alone with the kids my husband is asking for the address ;-)). We will be back in touch next year. We were talking about making it an annual girls' trip

We had a tremendous time and the house was absolutely perfect! One of the guests put it better than I could...we were sitting around with the fire and a late evening cordial when he said that "it felt like no one else should even live in the house...it's as if we have owned it forever."
